Did not recognize the number.  When I answered, it turned out to be a recorded message for auto insurance. I hung up, so did not get a company name.

He says he is in Chicago.  The company who gave him the number has the 206 number.

VoIP carriers that provide CLEC services can easily assign blocks of numbers from anywhere within NANPA to any customers who want them, and regularly do. This is totally plausible. Area codes are meaningless in today's world of voice provision services.

This # called my cell phone. I answered and got a recording saying it was a public service announcement regarding lowering my car insurance rates, Press 3 to be taken off the list so I pressed 3 and called them back to ask where they got my number from and the woman hung up on me. I did this 3 times.

Was in the shower, came out to a missed call from this number. googled it, found this site. they left no message.

I received a call from this number as well. I picked up but there was no one on the other end.

This number called me yesterday, they must have gotten my information from a marketing list of people getting insurance quotes, as I just was researching new insurance and changed companies. I asked them what company they were calling from and they just said they wanted to lower my rate. What a bunch of crap.

Just got back from a meeting, & had a missed call on my cell phone.  They left no message, & came to this site to see if others had similar. Thanks for the other responses, glad to see that I'm not alone (although sad to see many others like me have our time wasted by these idiots!)

Just received a call from this number on my cell phone.  Did not answer & they left no message.  After reading other posts glad I didn't.  It's bad enough when these morons call my land line but even more annoying when they call my cell phone.  Hope they all fry in hell soon.

I have a 209 (California) area code for my phone and I live in Chicago.

I reported this number to the DNC list. It belongs to a company trying to sell insurance.

Called and started talking about reducing my car insurance rates. Would not identify themselves of the company. As my own insurance company would never call me this time of day, and has never had a reason to call me I know it wasn't them. When I said I had never done business with them and I was on the do not call registry, they hung up.

This company just calls out of the blue offering better "supposedly" rates for car insurance. Well I DO NOT EVEN HAVE A CAR!!!!!
I am not sure where they get their info, but I never even owed a car int he last 5 years. They apparentyl call all cell numbers in the area.

312 is a Chicago  area code number.  206 is from the Seattle area.. Phone companies keep area codes belonging to the area no way would they give out to someone 2000 miles away.  Come up with a more reasonable story next time.  I don't like being called at dinner time by some idiot that can't leave a voice message

Hello, I am with Mason Media Group and this number 312.854.0140 no longer belongs to our company.  Our company did not call you or anyone else. Our company released this number back to the hosting company - Flowroute - at the first of March 2013.  If you have a home number with Verizon (or any carrier) and you cancel and get service with a new company, Verizon will reassign your old number.  In our case, Flowroute reassigned our old number, which is now with a company who is doing robo calls.  We have notified Flowroute and they have confirmed that the number is with one of their clients, but they cannot legally release who has that number without a court order. You can contact Flowroute at 1.206.641.8000.  We have tried to call the old number and act like a customer, but ultimately have not been able to obtain any additional information.

The (supposed) former owner of this number is a man named Todd Mason, he owns Mason Media Group and lives in D.C. HIS phone number is 202-237-2402 and he claims his company no longer owns the number, but he can't get any information about who does or how to contact them. He also claimed he has people looking into having the number or any association with it removed, but with people in marketing you have no reason to trust them one way or the other!

I filed an DO NOT CALL list complaint with the FTC.  I would encourage all to do so.

This one just came through my cell phone today (9-5-13) also but left no message.  That "DO NO CALL LIST" absolutely does NOT work.  Never has, never will.  I'm sending this number to the reject list on my phone so it doesn't come through again.
