If you're solicited by a telemarketer for a donation to a worthy charity, you and the charity would be better off making the donation directly to them and not over the phone.

Am Vets wanting donations

Amvets is a very reputable and worthy charity for american veterans.  We give regularly and have never been hassled or mistreated when we didn't have anything for a pick-up.

I don't quite know what this caller's BS is, but they're obviously involved in something shady.  Other posters have mentioned that this caller has claimed to be a debt collector as well as operating on behalf of a few different charities.  I'd bet that the truth is that it's none of the above, and even answering the phone gives information to these scammers that we'd prefer that they don't have.

Best to just keep reporting the nuissance.

Caller claimed he was looking for "Dominic" - when advised he had wrong #, he than said "We'll maybe you can help"  and started an Amvet donation read. I said "no" not interested. He said "conversation recorded" and hung up.  These guys suck. It was a random call looking for donations for a non-prof that actually gets a tiny amount of what they collect.

Receiving weekly, sometimes daily, unwanted calls from this number.  Requesting advice on how to stop these calls.  Thank you.

Not necessarily a debt collector!!  Voices in background reminded me of telemarketers or fundraiser type organization.  Besides we do not owe anything.

Said they were from the Illinois Jaycees.  Wouldn't let me take a message.

I called back, got the automated message. They're Amvets, looking to see if you have anything to donate. As a non-profit, they are exempt from the do not call list. They'll stop calling on/after the date of pickup in your area. It's cheaper gas if they pick up from a bunch of people.

Debt collectors are exempt from the Do Not Call list.  Apparently the people who had your phone number are behind on a bill and haven't given the creditor their new phone number.

Person called for people who had our number over 3 years ago. Caller was very rude when we told them we were on the no call list and not to call again. They claim to be exempt from the no call list.

keep calling my home phone and hanging up without a message really quite a nuisance number!
