Saying we owe credit card debt.  We settled and/or paid off all credit cards in 2011, 2012.  Reggie Neal wanted my social security number and I told him no.  He got huffy.  I will be sending him my lawyers info for them to provide all proof of debt.   These guys buy up old settlements and try to collect on them.  Shame shame on them.  Enough crooks in the world already.

Oh really? They just decided to 'garnesh' your wages huh? Maybe you could elaborate on that a bit. When did you receive your summons? Where did you appear in court?
To attach any income a court order must be in effect. A bottom-feeding debt collection agency does not just decide to garnish your wages. You must be legally served first and then appear in court. Failure to appear may result in a default judgement, but that's highly unlikely seeing as how 3rd rate collection agencies are far more terrified of courtrooms than any debtor is likely to be.
Shills patrol these sites hoping to drop a hint occasionally that might make there firm look legitimate. Never works. There are those of us here that, for whatever reason, have decided that B.S. artists have no place in the collection industry. Debts are a sad but real part of life. They should be paid if at all possible. To the legitimate creditor or the legitimate owner of the debt. NEVER pay a debt without first getting valid proof that said debt is owed and is valid. DEMAND a written letter of validation to be supplied to you, by mail (NOT E-mail), within 5 days of first contact with someone claiming to be collecting on a debt. Log and record all calls at home or at work if permitted in your state. Google 'Recording phone calls'. Most states use a 'One-party' rule. A few use a 'Two-party' rule.
Educate yourself on your rights as a consumer. Learn about the laws regarding the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Familiarize yourself with the frauds, scams and scare tactics that are used by bogus debt collectors.
I can assure you that 95% of the debt collectors who call you will promptly hang-up when a Letter Of Validation is demanded, especially when they are told that the call is being recorded. If you are being harassed at work explain to the boss what is going on. Have him see to it that calls are logged and, if possible, recorded. These parasites have been getting away with this sort of thing for far too long. It's time to haul them into court and shut them down.

To make a long story short these people wouldn't take a payment arrangement when I offered two years ago and only wanted "paid in full" when I was unemployed which was not possible. After waiting 2 years to take action, they decided to garnesh my paycheck this year of course over the Holidays, Now I have to explain to my family why we won't have any Christmans presents this year. I was served in 09  for a credit card... ORIGINAL DEBT 2500.00  Amount sued for almost 10,000.00  I SADLY messed up my days and missed court.  I have been paying for a frikken car!!  It seems it should be ILLEGAL to get 3+ times the amount of the original debt.  I also did NOT KNOW all of this validation info I am down to my last 2500 and they WILL NOT SETTLE (well they will but they will only take off like 500.00)  and supposedly they said they went BACK to court since i hadnt paid in a few months.  I would LOVE to know if I could go after them.  I HAVE most of the paper work with my last payment.  and they just called a couple of days ago.

I received many calls from them as well and at first they are nice. Then they told me they would see me in court. It seems I had money from an old credit card American Express I believe. I have since paid them off so we will see if they continue to call. I just hate how rude they are and threatening court and jail.

I got a call today from this number claiming to be from an IL attorney's office. The man stated that he was looking for my husbands ex brother in law and that our number had been left as a message number. Anyone else had this happen?

I received a call from this number today - caller was abusive and would not tell me what issue was about.  It was like someone trying to mug you on the telephone.  I hung up.  They immediately called back.  It is awful that verbally abusive people can call you in your home and beat you up for no reason.

I received a call yet again tonight for the same person we've been getting calls for the last 8 years.  I googled the phone # and this is the info that comes up:

They keep calling me on my phone asking for a family member saying its an important legal matter, when i ask them how they got MY number or what the legal matter is they refuse to answer my question. I will not have my family member call them till i know what it is regarding.

This company has called me several times looking for a person that does not live with me.  I have told them every time to stop calling.  They also illegally call using a machine.  If you're sick of them report them.  Just google Federal Do Not Call.  If they continue to harass you can file a law suit :)

They called from 312-920-0620. saying if your not the intended person connect and hang up..then they called right back from 815-680-5150 and hung up when they got the same answering machine message. scum bill collectors

I have paid over $3000.00 for a debt of 2 capital one credit cards at $500.00 limit since 1998 and 2002. I completed the 6 month arranged automatic monthly payment in 2004 and they told me I owed them more money. They wouldn't work with me or provide me with paperwork showing payment history or balance so I said $%&($)(. I then got a wage garnishment served against me (I am county employed.) Reluctantly I paid it off in 2008 and then some ($1400.00) more than the original debt with interest. Now in 2011, I inquire about a mortgage, got my credit score nearly perfect and wage garnishment papers get dropped off at the front desk for me in which my boss handed to me. (Humiliating). They want to garnish my wages saying I owe them $1700.00 more for an open capital one credit card. I checked my credit report again and wala capital one credit debt appears. I called the Blitte and Gaines firm and they said if I can't produce a paid in full receipt issued by them than I can appear in court. When I said I was going to show up either way, they than wanted to work things out with  me. I'm done. I'm getting an attorney and I'm suing to get all my money back and for humiliation and embarrassment at work with my new boss and to leave me the hell alone. God only knows what impression my new boss has of me now. "Oh she must be in financial trouble."

I received a call from them this morning and it was not a pleasant one. They send me a letter in September of 2010 and filed a lawsuit in October 2010 and I was served in January 2011. They never verified the debt and were calling to try to settle with me before they went to court. The male on the other end wanted me to verify the last four digits of SSN (socical security number), I told him that I did not feel comfortable with giving out this information. He said that he needed to verify that I was the correct person and he repeated the last 4 digits of my SSN. I proceeded to cuss him out and told him to stop calling me and hung up. I do not give out my SSN to anyone and wonder how they were able to find out my information. They probably looked up my credit report and got it from them. So now I guess I will be going to court since I cussed him out. The good news is that they never responed to my validation of debt and on the summons they did not attatch a complaint nor did they attached a copy of the contract. If anyone gets calls from them file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the ARDC (Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission in Illinois the website is www.iardc.org, mail them a letter to the Chicago address and also file a complaint with the Attorney General of Illinois the website is www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/ and click on the link for Protecting Consumers.

Never received any response from them, sent a validation of debt letter and no response. Next thing I knew lawsuit was filed and I had only 5 days to answer a summons. The lawsuit was filed before the 30 days that I have to dispute the debt. These people are carzy and are breaking the FDCPA laws. File a complaint with the attorney general of Illinois and with the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary commission, the web address is www.iardc.org

We can stop these people. I have already mailed my complaint and also complain to the BBB (better business bureau) and FTC (federal trade commission)

Contact a REAL attorney if they call you. Find out what your options are.

what's said is that you don't know that there IS such a thing as a body attachment do YOUR research before you go off telling people it isn't true ask a lawyer or a judge no it will not happen right away or sometimes at all but some attorneys will file for a body attachment and if the judge rules in his favor a warrant is placed against you look it up!!

again you are wrong they can hold you for that however that is a final resort. do you research you will not be released from jail until it is paid a warrant will be placed against you and if you are stopped by an officer you will be arrested read up on the law if you do not believe it

This Law Firm is Blitt & Gaines.  They keep calling my house for my brother in law.  He has NEVER lived here.  I keep telling them to stop calling.  They continue.  Looks like I may have to sue.
