Scam

I got the same call from this number, last night and when i didn't answer the first time they just kept calling, what scared me was they said that i was going to jail and i could be gone for a long time.When i ask how much i owe he won't tell me. I could understand really anything he said to me. I have ever got a loan or anything like that. I don't like giving my information out to anyone. So i called are local sheriff in town and he asked for the number and was going to do some checking and take care of it. This is the first call like this i got , couple months ago they tired to pull they same thing. I did the same thing call my local sheriff and he took care of it for me. I can't believe people get off on getting people upset and worry. That's not even right. I hope they get what is coming to them.

Same thing happens to me also.  They seem to do this about this time every year for the past two years now. It is a scam and they are from some other country buying cell numbers in America. Just ignore them - there wil be nothing that happens and save yourself the trouble of talking to them. They use common names as Mark Johnson, Bill Smith, etc.  They can't even talk good English!  Just annoying but reporting doesn't seem to make them stop because I don't think anyone can ever get to the source of the calls.  Probably from some place that doesn't even exist.

I have received the same phone calls. Saying they were calling from a lawyers office. First time they told me I owed $8000. When I took the call the second time, I was told I owed some payday loan company. I hung up on them. When they called back, I told them I did not owe anything-they then threatened me saying the U.S. Marshalls would be at my door the next morning. I asked them to send me documentation and proof-they got smart with me and said they did not have to send anything. I am so tired of these people calling and threatening me

I have received the same message but was also told pay up or go to jail. I think someone needs to do something about this. It's not right for people to call you & harass you & even threaten you

they are saying I committed a crime that don't exist and wanting me to send money to them

These people have been calling my cell phone and even called me at work.  For the past week they have called my cell phone every 2 hours.  I finaly picked up the phone today and he said I had a pending law suite but would not tell me from what.  I told him to send me something in writing and he said no.  Then told me I was going to be arrested and loose my job and "be behind bars for 5 years", I said, look here, this is America, we dont do things that way.  Who do you think you are fooling??  I am very annoyed!!  Something needs to be done with this b.s.!!!

The same person keeps calling me saying if I don't call back I need a lawyer or I will suffer the consequence for what I don't know. It has been going on for a week and its getting ridiculous

Harass them back, it's what I did and they have quit calling my wife and I. Just say any random thing, I personally enjoy letting them know that I think its cool they're getting paid the U.S. equivalence of jack **** for sitting on a bucket in the desert spouting obscenities to people that either are too old or senile to know its a scam. It's all a crock folks, smoke and mirrors. Just remember you can ruin their day as they have yours. Oh and contacting the proper authorities is as always advised... But not as fun to me personally.

I received several phone calls from this number on my cell and at work. First they told me charges had been put on me for a pay day loan i had not paid back. And that i would be arrested at 11 am tomorrow. Then after contacting different people over this including the police i called them back at let them know. They ssid i had been approved for a loan n it would be deposited in my acct in 40min. I said i dont ever loan and nevet asked for a loan from you. Then they tried saying i would have to pay a cancellation fee.

you can also add numbers to a blacklist or just tell it to only take calls of those in your contact list.

If they are calling you a cell phone, download the app called CALL BLOCKER, then you only have to pick up and hang up and the # is automatically blocked. FREE too.

Alex Mann (very heavy "Indian" sounding accent") supposedly from Sheffield Law firm called and left me the same bizarre message ppl are saying above. I put a complaint into FTC, but cannot find any information on a Sheffield Law Firm in Chicago, IL where reverse phone says this # is from. Thanks to your comments, I know now it's a scammer and I'm going to have my computer buddy have some fun w them.

I recieved a call from this number for my daughter asking me to verify the last 4 of her ssn. I told them that I will not be doing anything of the sort and don't call me again.  Just today I have recieved 6 calls from this same number now I a pissed and will get these calls stopped

This number called my house and told me basically the same thing everyone else wrote about here. This person knew a whole lot of information about me where i work, my address, my email, my bank name and so firth!! I can barely understand them :(! This is not ok telling people their going to jail!! Now i tried calling the number back n its not in service!!! I was really nervous and in tears only because he knew so much about me ad he threating me but i hope this b*****d gets what he deserves!! His going to jail!!

This company called my house and told my six year old son that i was going to be arrested. I asked them what i owed for and they wouldnt tell me. Said they were in a chicago law firm. Considering he couldnt pronounce it I doubt he is from chicago. If he is in chicago he probably is their illegally. I am reporting this to my local police.

Report them to the FTC and your state's Attorney General.  Other than that, you will just have to ignore them - they will probably keep calling, but don't let their threats worry you - legitimate debt collectors must send you a debt validation letter and these scammers won't.

I just want to say i had about a month ago a diffrent number call an it is a scam we played phone tag with these jerks from 7 different phone numbers an they said all the numbers were in a law suite an now today there calling from this same number an sayin the same threat what do we do

this is the same thing that happen to  me  the exact things word for word. But three different people call me from the same number 312-985-5645 first one was Bryan Black saying i owe a payloan for 651.51 the second one was Calvin Johnson saing i owe for payloan 689.51 and the last one couldnt answer what his name was but he said i owe for payloan for 8, thousands and i said what i in turn dont them to get their stuff together and make up their minds how much i owe. They really had me scare till lmy daughter look up their numbers and they were all there scaming people not just me . So i am calling the police and report them so this dont kept happening

They keep calling me telling me that I owe money from a payday loan but wont tell me any information nor give me any info in writing. They keep telling me I am going to go to jail if I don't send them money. They said they would send me something in writing once I send them the money

Thank you for posting these comments because this same thing is happening to me. Don't be afriad when they call they are trying to scam you. The same thing that ive read has happened to me. At first you might be tempted to believe their story but if they dont send you a legal documant that you owe money its a scam.The best thing to do is to go to your police station and report the number and have them take care of it. thank you and becareful

Over this! Got a new phone number!  Yeah, PIA, but they CAN'T CALL ME NOW!!

Got a voicemail on my WORK line from some guy named Michael Matthew, I saved the voicemail!  Forwarded to my Director of Security, and given it's rather threatening tone, will NOW have the ability to report this to the local authorities.....

So I called the guy back from a different number, and got some guy named "Eric Smith", who said he worked for a private law firm, thus did not have to provide a IL Bar Number... except he kept saying barcode back to me... (oy vey)...

Claiming to be from the Law Firm of Shepard, out of the Chicago, IL area.

NOW... when you finally puzzle through the incoherency of the moronic indivdiual on the line whose inablity to spell LaSalle Street or Suite (always gets me!), then you find out that the number belongs to  REPUTABLE law firm by the name:

Be prepared to give your full name and contact number to whomever you speak.  This is the SECOND law firm in this area that has been receiving complaints from people. Law firm of Shepard is the FIRST law firm being used as the front for this latest scam...

What gets me is why these people think its okay to USE an actual Law Firm, or Government State Agency address to attempt to scam people of out of money... so apparently, it's US Cash... no such debt exists with this company, because I CALLED THEM too!

Unreal... these people are unreal!

Just recvd a call from this number stating they were a law firm and asked who I was. I could hardly understand the guy for his heavy accent. I just rudely said excuse me but who are you?  He claimed he again he wad from a law firm calling for a Linda. I told him I never heard of her. It sounded fishy so I was very rude to him. He Hung up. Glad I looked this number up!

Yeah they began their tirade by calling my wife and sexually harassing her, so in retaliation I've started giving their numbers out to my vulgar friends so they can call and harass them in return, also started writing the numbers down as a 'looking for a good time?' in out local Walmart bathroom stalls as well as a few other places I have recently visited. They messed with the wrong troll. ^.^
