Got a call from this number but no message was left...

Called last two days no messages left.

I called the number and received an automated message that stated that this number was unassigned.  The message was both in English and in French, so the calling number is probably a French Canadian call center.

When I got home from work, saw the number on my caller ID. Did not leave a message.  I am sick and tired of these calls.  Why aren't these telephone numbers being blocked?

Got a call from 313 203 8197, left no message.  Tried calling back and got the cell phone number is not assigned.  I guess I wonder how regulated phone companies allow companies to show fake numbers on caller id.

Called but did not leave message. Freaked me out because an associate was traveling to Michigan and I did not expect a call except in an emergency. Now I see it's a scam.

I received a call this morning showing this number and Michigan. I didn't answer it.

Two things you should know:

First if it really is a charity, they are not subject to the DO NOT CALL LIST, neither are political callers or companies or their associates that you do business with.  Make sure to read the fine print when you do business with any company.  There usually is a place to check a box  or a notation in the paperwork that says if you don't want them to share information, you need to send a letter to the listed address.  Read all of the text before you sign on the dotted line, or hit the I agree button.

Second:  If the phone number is unassigned, it is possible it is a scam. People can set it up to show any phone number they want. Many find a number that is not in use and use that for the caller ID, they could be anywhere in the world.

Like other have said, never donate over the phone.  Ask them for the name of the charity etc, then look up the phone number for charity and ask them if they are making phone calls for money.  If they are then, if you wnat to, you can make a donation and you will be sure that it is going to that charity and not some scammers pocket.

Well I have to go.  I need to contact a lady in Africa, she needs me to help her get her late father's millions out of the country.  I really can use the 15% she is offering me after I give her my bank account information.  <G>

Apparently lots of people have been getting calls from this "Michigan".  We found that Caller ID Name and the phone number 313 203 8197 in our caller ID list.  I'm so glad to have found that others have reported their problems with this company.  It's saved me from wasting my time trying to call a real person when it's just another con artist.

Unsolicited call from Detroit, Michigan.  I just hit the talk button on the 5th ring and then hung up without waiting to see who was on the line.  I am on the National Do Not Call list but that doesn't seem to deter any of them.

I just got a call from these creeps. She answered with good morning. I said good morning? She changed it to good afternoon, its 6:15PM. She said she was calling from the caner fund of america When I asked how much money go to the children she first said 100%. I asked her if she got paid. She said yes so I said so 100% does not go to the kids. She then told me ONLY 28% of the money you send makes it to the children. I told her no thanks and hung up.

Calls at 7 A.M.  The 888 number waits until 8 A.M.

Got a call from "Michigan - 1-313-203-8197."  It rang several times.  When I answered, no one was on the line.  Appeared to be a nuisance call.

Twenty calls thus far this month!!! Come on people get a life!!! If its important, leave a message. If we're here, we'll pick up and hang up, so hopefully it will cost YOU!

We have been getting calls from "MICHIGAN" from the above number for several days in a row. WHY ARE THESE CREEPS DOING THIS, WHEN WE ARE ON THE DO-NOT-CALL LIST? WHY DOES THE TELEPHONE COMPANY ALLOW THIS SORT OF THING TO GO ON? THOUGHT IT WAS ILLEGAL TO HARASS PEOPLE VIA TELEPHONE?!

Recieved a 3 second message from this number, with nothing said. This is annoying.

Didn't take call because didn't know number. Rang about 2 minutes.

CALLED ME SEVERAL TIMES. JUST ANSWERED AND THEY SAID TO DONATE TO CANCER FUND. I TOLD THEM TO SEND ME A PLEDGE CARD. THEY SAID THEY WOULD . I WILL UPDATE IN THE FUTURE

NEVER donate over the phone to ANYONE!  only mail in your contributions OR go online to THAT charities website.  EVEN if this call would be legit, they get to keep MOST of the money, most of these type of companies keep up to 90% of collected funds and they are SUPPOSED to tell you that you may send in your donation via check directly TO the charity, but than, why would they do that:  they wont get a piece of it.

I agree they should get a life or get a job from our new goverment in washington.  they are creating lots of jobs for this type of person.

Called 8:45 pm  I did not pick up; they left no message.  Since I dont know anyone in Michigan, assumed it was marketing.  Now it sounds as though it is scam artist.

Got a call from them, a little static, then they hung up. Bull shiiit.

Same deal.  Answered call and heard talking in the background.  Kept saying hello and then they hung up on me.

I have been getting and ignoring Cancer Society money calls for a couple of days.  Some are from their 888 number (276-2971), which is easy to ignore.  But I called back to 313-203-8197 and the recording says it is a cellular number which is "unassigned" - no further information.  313 is Detroit.  My guess is they are outsourcing funding calls to unemployed people as piecework where they get paid by the number of donations they can solicit or something like that.

Called 6PM-8:30PM every other day for a week.  I do not pick up.  They do not leave message on answering machine.
