About 3 years ago a simular instance happened to me.  I called the people back and paid them $1000 from my credit card.  They had a debt that I never paid that was well over 7 years old.  After speaking with a friend, she asked her attorney about it and he said to call my bank and dispute the payment, and tell them the payment was done by fraud.  I did just that and come to find out, those people had purchased an old dept of mine that I didnt have to pay due to statue of limitations had run out.  I got my $1000 back.  My friends attorney called me and said..."real debt collectors are required by law to send you a letter, and in most cases certified, depending on the state you live in.  So do not listen to anyone that calls you.  Tell them to send you a certified letter with proof of the debt"  Most of these people dont even have proof of the debt, they only have your name and number.  They may even have your social because they bought the debt from someone else.  But there is no proof.  Do not fret over these people!  They cant legally get a dime!!  Just dont call them back at all and go about your business. Just like Bedgar says above...block their number if you can.  If you decide you want to pay the debt that they are discussing with you....Go to the orig debtor and pay them.  Do not pay these people anything!!

This numer has called me several times.  The recording says the same thing.  It is an old debt that is now past the statue of limitations.  I just hang up and forget it.  Today I used my call block and blocked the number from calling at all.

This number called my parents house/number twice, just today, 2/16/12. It's a recording. Because they aren't calling me, I don't know if they have a number to call back to. I haven't yet called the 313# directly to see what they tell me, or if I can event get through.

They just called me right now saying i did the same thing first of all i dont have a bank account to write bad checks

These people from this number have called my cell phone and landline phone saying that they have legal papers for bad checks I have written. First off I never write checks. When I called the number that was left o the answer machine which is 1-888-688-9470 I told them I did not know the person they were asking for they then proceeded to tell me that I was wanted on felony charges for using peoples social security numbers! Now thats a lie because I'm in the criminal justice field. This is a scam and will be looked into further so people please beware!

This number called my brother-in-law and told him I had a bad check and that they will look for me at my employment or residence, they wouldn't tell him who the check was for or anything. Was just wondering what you guys have done about this.

Must have at least 10 of these calls.  Received about 2 a month.  Everytime it is a recorded phone call using the same voice but the person's name changes.  Also these calls come in listed from all different states.  They are debt collectors who have bought a list for pennies on the dollar.  Most statute of limitations are over on these lists.  Don't worry everybody.....and please, please don't send money

serving legal papers

I got a voicemail from them with a recorded message saying they have some legal papers to serve me with and they will actively be seeking me at my residence or place of employment. I haven't had any outstanding debts in years so I am wondering if it could be some sort of scam as well. When I was in college some 10 years ago I had all kind of collections people calling me and them saying they were going to serve me with papers was just a way to scare me into giving them money I didn't have but like I said I haven't had any outstanding debts in years so I don't know

i think they are scamming us, has anyone got a call from them, who is it. when i call back it transfers me to collections???
