Legitimate phone call from Magellan Health regarding my health insurance.

I received 2 calls from this company and let it go to voicemail. Finally I called them back and got a woman who said that it was about my husband's MRI that we were waiting to be approved. They said that the place we had picked for an MRI was going to be substantially higher for our copay and they wanted to make sure we were okay with that. She said she would call the approval number into our Dr. today so we can schedule it.  She did ask our insurance ID number, name and address but didn't ask for our SS numbers (I wasn't going to give her that anyway)

I work for Magellan Health Services. They are not telemarketers. Magellan provides mental health, EAP, radiology and pharmacy benefits. Most likely, someone was trying to reach you because of a benefit you have with Magellan. Most of the time we can not leave message or have to leave a generic message because of HIPAA.

This is definitely a legit company, National Imagining Associates. We called them back and they let us know my husband was approved for an MRI. So yes, call them back, it's all good. They really should change their message, but they probably can't say much because of medical confidentiality.

Magellan Health Services owns National Imaging Associates, ICORE (pharmacy benefits management) and a few other subsidiaries. Health insurance companies hire them for radiology pre-certification, (MRI, CAT scans, etc) Mental health management, pharmacy benefits, and many other specialty items. The reason they call so early in the morning is to catch people at home to speak to them about coordinating their pre-cert or other health related issues.  They also can't leave a message because it will violate federal Heath information privacy laws. Often they just leave a message to return the call to a specific 1-800 number. They ask for personal info such as name date of birth and member I'd to prove you are who you are and thus not divulge and personnel health information which would cause them to be fines thousands of dollars (HIPPA complaince).

If you have had any recent doctors or mental health visits, they maybe calling too coordinate your healthcare. RETURN THIER CALL!!

this number was in my missed calls, left no voicemail..i blocked my number and called it back..a woman answered and said "this is Laura"...then the call dropped.  I googled the number and its to Laura Dunn at Magellan Health services..called back again just now and it went to her voicemail.

Magellan Health Services also provides the InTransition program for service members/veterans transitioning out of service (probably for all branches, but I was USAF).  They provide social work type services to make sure you receive continuation of care.  I believe this service is primarily for those with mental health concerns or adjustment concerns.  NOT UNSOLICITED

I have been receiving these calls in NY prior to 9am quite often. The number shows up Unavailable but they ask me to call National Imaging associates back at 800-642-7820. I called back today, I spoke to a rep after giving my birth date and Name but refusing to give my health id #. She told me that whatever they were calling about I would also get a letter in the mail. They work with different insurance providers, Independent Health
, Blue Cross Blue Shield etc...

I see from the voice mail log that they called this morning at 8:14 AM. That is way too early for an unsolicited call from an unidentified caller, no matter how legit - or not - they may be.

They left a robo message that was not audible in the beginning, so I do not know who they claim to be, but then they went on to assert they are contracted by my health insurance carrier, and to call back at another number, and to be sure to supply them with personal information like date of birth and insurance ID when I do, before they will tell me why they are pestering me.... I am not willing to supply any unsolicited caller from an unfamiliar number with personal information.

This may be well-intentioned, but it is unacceptable. I am scheduled for an imaging procedure tomorrow. If the authorization is in place, then that's fine, don't bother me about it. And if it is not, then let my local provider call me with the news that the procedure has to be cancelled for lack of authorization.

Claimed to be my insurance company and wanted to change who I was having a CAT scan with to a cheaper alternative - Alliance Imaging. Could not tell me how much I would save but it "would be a substantial amount". I had just received a call to postpone my appt. because the procedure had not been approved yet! I told the woman that and she gave me the approval # that she had. She had to make a call to schedule an appt with the one near me and found out they only did PET scans. She was very nice and apologized to me and said I should keep the appt I had. I am indicating a telemarketer as that is what the call felt like.

They are NOT National Imaging Associates, they handle CLAIMS for National Imaging Associates you morons, they are a health care company, get a life and stop bitching.....

Jiminy friggin cricket Chuck, make sure you have your information correct before you go throwing out BS answers.  Yes the 314-387-4000 number is their call center number, however, if you pay attention to the message they leave you will hear they give you a different #(usually an 800) to call back depending on what medical reason they are calling for, i.e. 800-642-7820 goes to National Imaging Associates who approve or deny preauth requests for MRI's or CT's. It works similar to an answering service(call center) for multiple doctors. The preauth is approved/denied by different facilities depending on what it is for so one # may be MRI's/CT's and a different number may be for a preauth for Speech/Hearing tests.

I also received a call from this number and they are National Imaging Associates. They call to let me know that my preauthorization for an MRI was approved. They are merely giving you a courtesy call to let you know what is going on with your medical preauth requests.....sheesh lol Have a nice day!

Also received phone call from above number MHS, dead air when I answered.

I received this call and there was no message so I googled and found this. Then I realized they were calling about my request for employee assistance. They called back within 5 minutes and I answered. I think they do not leave messages because these matters are confidential. I don't think they are allowed to leave messages. There is no need to report them, simply answer the phone and ask what they are calling about.

It's not a scammer or a blind sales call. It's one of the health-care providers arranged through your employer. They have legitimate reasons to call patients. It's something you already pay for through your insurance.

This is nothing more than a call center-for-hire.
Although they appear to be hired by legitimate companies, they use all the same tactics as the scammers & spammers.
*They usually spoof their caller ID
*They ask you to "confirm" personal information so they can talk to you
*They are not truthful about who they are
*They call multiple times per week sometimes several times per day.
*They often hang up when you pick up the phone (likely because they're robo-dialing enmass)
I would not deal with these people or give them ANY personal information until they start acting in a responsible manner.
I would, instead, directly call the company/agency they purport to represent & discuss any issues with them.

Got a call from this number, thought I had hit ignore but actually hit Send and answered the call without realizing it right away, so whoever it is got about 8 seconds of listening to me sing along with the Zac Brown Band lol

Regardless if they are from my health care provider, if the calls are unsolicited they will be blocked!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a call, not one was there, called back... This is NOT a scam they have to do with your medical insurance. In my case it was for an MRI that was ordered on my ankle that was originally denied. They were getting in contact with me to tell me what my Doc needed to do to make my insurance accept the pre-certification. Blue Cross Blue Shield uses them.

Magellan is simply one of your employer's health-care providers, and it's to your benefit to accept or return their calls. They're not telemarketers.

My cell # received a call from this number at 5:54am this morning! even if I was in Eastern time zone that is too early for ANY calls (and I'm located in Mountain time!). I called back and got a recorded message saying it was Magellen Health Services.
