It's Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ. NOT Unitarian. That is a different denomination.

I too, was receiving these frequent and irritating calls from Ivy Chapel Church, but as the webmaster from Ivy stated, the phone company said they usually last about 2 weeks and then stop.  My calls have ceased, thankfully...  for now anyway.  How on Earth do you catch the culprits at this game and prosecute them?  And why is this STILL A LEGAL PRACTICE?  Where are the law makers?  They can put a man on the moon but they can't stop number spoofing?

314-434-5077   is a fax number of Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ.
It is being used with a application by someone else-not authorized by the church. The telephone company fraud department calls it Spoofing and apparently it is not illegal yet. While these calls and messages are from Ivy Chapel's fax number they are not placed/endorsed/or requested to be done on the church's behalf nor does the church approve/allow/endorse or condone the use of it's fax number in any way of this like manner by any person(s) using this number for their own personal satisfaction and gain.
This behavior by the person(s) is wrong/fraudulent/disgraceful and shameful. Please accept Ivy Chapel's deepest apologies for any distress caused by this unknown person(s) making these unwanted and shameful calls. The church council is trying to remedy this.

I received call from same number they called me twice in 8 days n at the time but when u call bavk no 1 answers.

Please don't answer. This is someone using the church's fax number to make spoof calls to residents (so far) in Florida and in Texas.

Just got a call from this number and they were trying to "give away" free home security systems. But when it said to say yes or no then it couldnt hear me then wanted other info. Just the wat it sounded threw up red flags so i hung up.

My caller ID was filled with 9 calls from this number - Ivey Chapel Unit - one call right after the other - over and over. Left no message. My machine does not pick up these types of calls so it just rang over and over and over until they gave  up then they would call back repeating the same process.
Hoping somebody can do something about these scumbags who do these things to other phone numbers as you described.

and the voice was that of an older gentleman...didn't think that was relavent until I read the post about the ladies ex husband. jm not gonna answer anymore calls from them.

I got the call, I answered and it was a recording trying to give away free home security systems and alarms for everything...the message prompted me to push 1 or 8 and I pushed 1 to continue trying to talk to a real person, after I pressed 1 it disconnected the call.

Still has not stopped.  Got another call this morning.  No message left this time.

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

Also chiming in to mention it hasn't stopped. Called three times from this number (last just a few min ago -- after 9pm est). I am sorry to hear of the church's troubles and I do hope you're able to catch and prosecute these people.

In the meantime I've simply added the number to my blacklist. :/

Believe me, the owners of this number, the Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ, would like nothing better than to catch and prosecute those behind the spoofing of their number. One clue is the post from the woman who said the voice sounded like that of her ex-husband.  Perhaps there is a former church member who is this woman's ex-husband and for whatever reason is trying to discredit the church with this campaign of telephone harassment.

I just received ANOTHER call from 314-434-5077 shown as IVY CHAPEL UNI; I live in FL, it is 8:40 PM here and I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST. This is several days now I have been receiving these calls and they're getting later and later in the day. WHOEVER is doing this needs to be PROSECUTED!!! They never say anything, never leave a message, just hang up and don't answer the phone when you call back.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to stop the calls. The people/bots calling are not using our line, but have "spoofed" our name and number and are making the fraudulent and harassing calls. We have been in touch with the phone company and the FCC. There is nothing else we can do. The FCC mentioned that the calls typically go on for a couple of weeks and then stop. Changing our number will not help the situation at this point, since the calls aren't really coming from us.

Yes, we are aware of the situation. We have notified the phone company and the FCC. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can technically be done to make the calls stop. They are not coming from our number. The FCC told us the cycle usually runs for a couple of weeks and then stops.

Got 2 calls back to back - Caller ID says IVY CHAPEL UNIT.  10:39am & 10:41am.  I did not answer.  No voice mail left.

To the church that keeps saying it is not them calling, just their fax number.

You are the only ones that can stop this.  You own the darn number.

received two calls with no message from phone number 314-434-5077 around 1:57 pm, 7:47pm

Someone from that number called my grandmothers house  playing like it was me saying do you no who this is and she said ya then the person was saying that i was at an accident in Cancun Mexico and needed money lucky she thought something suspiciously and called my father he then looked up the number said it's some scam

The 314-434-5077 is actually the fax number for the church.  I found the phone number for them and called them to ask why they were calling me and hanging up.  The lady who answered explained that the problem is not coming from the church, but it is instead being caused by somebody spoofing the fax number and making the calls.  She further explained that the church has complained to the FCC and phone company many times, but both FCC and the phone company claim that nothing can be done to stop spoofing.  She also said that they are still working to get a resolution to the problem.

Be aware you simply cannot trust callerid name and number. It is very easy for a hacker or criminal to spoof a phone number on a call to you making it look like it came from your credit card company, bank, brokerage, etc.  I'm not a hacker or criminal, but I can spoof any number I want using my VOIP service provider. If I can do it, the the bad guys can too!
Keep yourself safe by not giving out any personal information in a phone call unless YOU placed the call to the business and are absolutely certain you are calling a phone number that belongs to the business.

Yeah, we just got a call' at 11:43am, caller ID says Ivy Chapel CHRC. I understand this is not the churches fault, just reporting the activity.
