Kelsey, it must be nice to never have had an error on your record or a mistake in your life!  As for paying my bills, I do.  Another person, with a similar social security number is the person sought: not me.  So, stick your rude little comments where the sun don't shine and G*d bless your perfect little being.

No, YOU owed someone money...I do not.

My wife and I are listed in the phone book as "D and M North"

So they are fishing phone numbers, to try to find a "Marcy North" who owes someone money.

So now sarcastic helper, what is your advice?

Been calling me for a week now. I Googled the company, got this number off their website 1-866-212-7408 and called them, explained the guy they are looking for is not me, asked them to Google my phone number and they would see my name is not even close, they said they would stop calling. Let's see what happens.

This is a "junk collector".....trying to collect $250 from an old Sears Card from 1998. I call them junk collectors because legally speaking they can not longer collect this debt, the Statute of Limitations has expired. Good luck !!...and by the way, if you owe money and the Statute of Limitations has expired for your debt, do not speak, contact or make any kind of agreement with the Junk Collector, because they could re-validate your debt. Just ignore them.

This is a debt collection agency by the name of "RPM". They call me daily. They will not give you any information until you verify every bit of your information. I call them from a gmail account to where they cant trace it.

They call but  leave no message or voicemail i think there should be some kind of law passed that stops them from calling on cells or at least if they do make the calls they have to leave a message if no message is left we should be able to block them from the phone

Yes, I have been getting calls, about five yesterday.  Missed their call and they called back very early this morning.  I called them back and fussed them out about harassing me because I told them a few months ago whomever they are looking for, a Debra or Donna doesn't live here, has never been their phone number, and I dont know these people, and to stop calling. They also use another number, 571-261-0047.  I am pissed. I will call them again and demand to speak to their manager and I will file a complaint with the FTC.

This is the first time I've observed this number or this caller ID.  I hope it does not begin to recur to the same extent and some other repeated calls I've been getting that I've also posted about.  The M. O. was the same as those others: I don't answer calls I don't recognize, and there is no message left in voice mail.

i answer the phone and they don't talk. Credit bureaus are required to send you documentation in the mail and I have received nothing i the mail. If the are not worried about committing Mail Fraud then whay don't they send me a letter? I ran my credit report through the federal trade commission web site to be sure my record is clear and it is. If they want to speak to me the need to talk to me when I answer the phone.

Caller ID read "Per R".  I shut the answering machine off to see how many times it would ring; I pikced it up on the 12th ring.  Didn't say anything, then an automated voice came on, I put the phone down by the TV - hope they enjoyed the show.  lol

As a lawyer who handles several cases dealing with collection practices and law, I can tell you the RG is, in fact, on the right track.  While you do not have to give any evidence to a collection agency to prove your identity, if you want to help stop the harassment quickly and inexpensively providing some evidence will go a long way.  I would black out everything but your name and number.  you will not be risking identity theft as a previous person indicated as you have not provided enough information to do so.  Include in the fax a statement or by way of certified mail, a letter of "cease and dissist" to inform the collector under federal law, you are invoking your rights.

Should they continue to harrass you, obtain printed evidence of further calls and file a small claims suit for $1000 for every federal statute violated.  That will stop them.

Thank you Micky for the information.  I have received 7 calls from Receivables Performance - 3 different phone numbers (314-627-5652, 301-882-9950, and 888-745-9332).  I asked them twice to stop calling - they person they are seeking does not live at my address and is someone I have never heard of.  Today when they called I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and was advised I would have to call a different number to reach anyone in management.  I followed your recommendations and registered an informal complaint on the FCC website (what they are doing constitutes an "Abandoned call" - they call, if someone answers there is a pause and the call is switched to a live call center rep).  I also logged a complaint with the Washington Better Business Bureau.  I have no debt, work hard and pay all my bills on time.  I am tired of collection agencies calling because of my last name - they need to do some research and try to find the debtor, rather than googling a last name or checking the local phone books.

The caller is Receivables Performance Management. They are debt collection scum. I have NO debts but they continue to call on these numbers: (425)984-6248, (757)990-8973, (888)745-9332 and (425)649-1945 Fortunately I have Comcast phone service and I don't answer unless I recognize the number that shows up on my phone, computer or TV. The online system identifies the caller and I then add that number to the call screening list. They continue to call from different numbers. I have had over dozen calls so far and have filed a complaint with the California District Attorneys office. I urge you to do the same.

If they are a bill collector then it is their responsibility to contact ONLY the person they have been hired to contact, not the numbers of people that have been contacted by this fraudulent entity.
Second, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE FAX THEIR PHONE BILL TO A STRANGER AS THIS CAN LEAD TO IDENTITY THEFT AND THAT YOU WOULD SAY SO EITHER SHOWS YOUR IGNORANCE OR THAT YOU SUPPORT IDENTITY THEFT. IT IS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVE OUR IDENTITY TO A STRANGER WHO DIALS THE WRONG NUMBER. IF THIS IS A REAL DEBT COLLECTOR THEN THEY WOULD LIST THEIR COMPANY NAME AND PHONE NUMBER AND GIVE THEIR NAME SO THAT WE COULD KNOW AND VERIFY THEIR LEGITIMACY BEFORE CALLING ANYONE.
NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WASTE MONEY OR TIME FAXING A FRAUDULENT COMPANY THAT HARRASSES PEOPLE AND EVEN IF IT WERE A REAL COMPANY IS WASTING SO MUCH MONEY CALLING INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT THEY ARE BOUND TO GO BANKRUPT

I don't owe anyone money. My bills are paid on line.

And you would think that if I owed someone money that it would be important enough for them to leave me money.  All these phone calls mean this person spends more on phone bills than do on collection from people who don't owe--which just proves it's a scam because no real business would make these calls.
