they call this morning, and asking for donations...i look back caller id, they call several times last week, no messages

I called this number and it was the sheriffs dept. I left a message to be taken off their calling list. I did not leave my name. I figure if they have my number, they should already know my name!

I have been getting calls from this number ....sometimes they say it is from the sheriff's association and sometimes just dead silence ....please block this call?

Got the call from these do***ebags at 7:47 at night.  He said he was from the "deputy Sherriff's Assn."and the caller ID showed Local Area Call.   We got a call from this scum before and they were the "Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters " that time.  The jerk asked for a member of the household by name and I told the moron to hold on while I got him then set the phone down.  After a minute or more he hung up.  Might have kept this jerk from bothering a couple of other people that night.  It's a scam because in this area we have well known and legitimate organizations that help police and firefighters that are injured in the line of duty.

woman called and asked for husband by name.   No message, said would call later.

Received a call today and a person shouting my first name at me, probably trying to overcome the noise of other solicitors in the background, said she was from the Missouri Sheriff's Office (or association) Charity, and 'how you doing today?'. I said thank you, I'm doing well, I'm busy, and do not want to donate to the charity, thank you. At that point there was static and a sudden disconnect.

If you are a solicitor, and someone answers your call, at least have the courtesy to thank them for their time, especially if they are courteous to you, rather than being totally rude by just disconnecting. Or I guess you are trained, or is it innate, to think people have nothing better to do than wait for solicitors to call and then listen to the drivel that comes from the spiel you have.

They keep calling, first the number was 888-260-4306 blocked it, they 855-865-0689 blocked that one too and then they tried 314-732-4441. how many freaking numbers do they have, s***,

This # appeared as Local # and a man asked for the owner by name with a very strong voice I asked to take a message and same thing happened sounded frustrated and hung up.

got a call from 3147324144. claiming they are from a sheriff. they are not. it is a scam to collect funds from you and get your credit card number - beware!

Received a call today at my work number asking for the owner of the company.  Became overly rude when I said that the owner wasn't here and tried to take a message.  The caller never disclosed who it was or who they were with and just said that he'd try back later before hanging up.

Called me on my Cell phone... while I was out of the country! That costs me $2.99 for the 30 seconds it took to figure out it was a call for money - and I am on the no-call list.

i got a call from this number and she said her name was Emerald Flanagan and ask for me by name

First of all, no local authority (sheriff, police, fire department) are going to make calls for funding as was stated by my local police department.  It is illegal and classified as harassment as another person stated above.  Should any of these authorities need funding, they will do fundraisers in the public during the daytime like a bake sale or something in front of Wal-Mart.  

I live west of St. Louis but as others have mentioned here, it pops up on the CID as a local number.  I received this call tonight and thought I should share what local authorities have told me.  I ran a trace on it online (Googled it) and that's when I found this.  Was told by local authorities that this is a scammer trying to get money so if you should see this number pop up on your phone either ignore it or report it to local authorities with any information you know.  They can be turned in for harassment and for posing as law enforcement when they most likely are not...which is also illegal.

this # calls and hangs up no matter if we pick it up or answering machine its bul you get sick of it grow up and stop calling and id just says missouri call

In the future, Sheriff Sharp suggests you consider asking to speak to the telemarketer?s supervisor and inform him or her of your intention to contact your attorney to remedy the situation, as well as place a call to the Missouri Attorney General?s office.

Would someone who has some authority, please go after whomever owns this phone number ?  They just don't stop....   Just look at all the posts online and how long ago they date back...... Crazy

Just received a call at a business from 314-732-4144 asking for the owner.  The owner was not here so he said he would call back later.  I made the mistake of donating to this organization once and then talked to our local sheriff and was told that they do not get any of the money.  Sooooo, I wonder where it goes.

Just got a call and the caller gruffly said he wanted to speak to the owner...and I asked who he was and he gave me a first name...I asked who he represented and he said the MO Sherrif's Dept.  I told him not to call and hung up.  He was extremely rude .

Just received call again. I said Hello Hello and I heard a middle age girl saying Hello Hello. I hung up.
I am wondering if they get credit for making the calls (to solicit for money etc) and even though they don't talk to someone, since someone answered, they get credit. Or if someone answers, if the operator just says Hello Hello, it can be like they got hung up on and still get credit.

I see in the article I posted earlier that we can call the Better Business at 314-645-3300 an dcheck them out and I guess report them also..Going to try that tomorrow.

Still calling, no answer when i picked it up..Gonna try to find out who to report them to...I am on the do not call list.

Just received a phone call and the caller id showed "Local Area Call" for the name and the number showed as 1-314-732-4144. I said hello several times but didn't hear anything. Eventually it went to a dial tone.

they need to get their head outta their butts and quit calling or get a real life and leave the ones who have a life alone so we can live ours!!!!!!QUIT^ CALLING

Got a call from the 314-732-4144 phone number and my caller ID showed Missouri Call, answered on the third ring and they hung up!

I found this site by putting the phone number in search..I couldn't pull up any info in reverse phone look up..they hide that info so I am guessing it is the scammers and not the real association. Although last year I think the name did appear in my caller ID. I looked up more info and found this..

Saw I too had a call from 314-732-4144..I see someone mentioned the Sheriff's association. I believe I checked them out last year when they were calling all the time..I told them I could not find any info on them and told them to quit calling me..The calls stopped for a long time until tonight..I am so glad I found this .Now I can be prepared!
