They call and do not leave a message.  When call number back recording says number is disconnected.  Very annoying

Annoying - put them in my Contacts under the name "No One - Don't Answer" - so that's what'll show up when they call again!

I just called the number back and all I heard was a greeting that said, this number has been disconnected and is no longer in service!  What a bunch of BS......

This is the 3rd day in a row this number called and either they did not leave a message or there was no one on the other end. Tried calling the number back and it said no longer in service or disconnected. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST!!

This number called, phone rang 3 times, then they hung up.  I tried calling the number back and a recording said the number was either out of service or disconnected. That's funny since I called it back within 3 minutes.

Received numerous calls from this number listed on caller ID as Local News. Dialed it back and got message that it is not a working number or is disconnected. Get several calls from this number every day. How to stop it??

caller id days news media - pretty funny - the number they are calling is the house number and no one EVER answers it.  LOL  So I will let them continue to waste their time and money.

Problem is you answer the freaking call and they hang up.  If they would stay on the line I would save them the time of calling me, as I am not interested.

this number calls the house several times per day. When i called the number back, a voice recording says that "you have reached a number that is no longer in service". I only called the number because another site I was on said you can call and remove your number by pressing 3-1-1 after listening to a menu.

I called the number and it answers as "The Pisa Group."  They telemarket for newspapers.  If you are registered on the Do Not Call list, I suggest you file a complaint against The Pisa Group in Saint Charles, Missouri.

It is a scam wanting to sell the 'local newspaper'. I followed their 'do not call' instructions -press 3-1-1. the robot said that they would remove my number from their database.  The next day I got the same call from the same number. I figure that they probably sell my number to other scammers because I answered the call and hit 3-131.

Same as other complaints. Call will identify itself as "Local News".

I tried the 3-1-1 removal proceedure and it seemed to work just fine.  The automated response at the end said that it would take up to 48 hours to remove my number from their databases.  Hopefully, that will be the case.

I keep getting calls from this no.  It rings a few times and then stops.  Caller ID says "Local News"

They are calling me at night as well and I have a cell number.   I will report to the FTC no spam list

Called my cellphone for weeks straight. Inadvertently answered yesterday. They said they were from the Phila. Inquirer (my local paper) asking me to switch to easy pay. When I said I am not a subscriber, they asked for my mom (thinking she was my wife) by name. I let them know that this is my cellphone and I was not interested. They called again today...

I think you guys are EXTREMELY naive. A caller from MISSOURI, trying to sell "local newspapers" in Los Angeles, San Jose, and TEXAS, all at the same time? Seriously, you believe that b***s***? Any time you hear "local newspaper" from a caller it's b***s***. It's almost become a comical scam topic, like "PRINCE OF NIGERIA".

What they actually are are scammers (or even just 1 person) who has some sort of device that can spam telephone calls by going through all the numbers from 0 to 999-9999. Maybe only 1% of the numbers it tries are being used by people. So it uses your response to see if you're real so it can start spamming you EVEN MORE!

I myself made the mistake long ago of going through their automated process to "remove your number" from their list. Of course when you do that, or ever answer the phone, that CLUES THEM IN THAT YOUR NUMBER IS LEGITIMATE AND WILL START SELLING IT TO THE BLACK MARKET.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THEIR CALLS OR FALL INTO THE TRAP OF GOING THROUGH THEIR AUTOMATED PROCESS TO "REMOVE YOUR NUMBER". DO NOT EVEN CALL BACK or you will start getting a lot of random phone calls in the near future!

Who ever this is, this number calls me constantly at anytime of the day.  There are times when long periods of time go by without a call and then suddenly this number starts there crap again.  Very annoying, can anything be done about it.

I just got a call from 314-737-4546. The caller i. d. said "Local News."

I pressed the speakerphone on button and promptly pressed the button again to hang up on the call. I am now going to the Do Not Call List's website to file a complaint.

Telemarketer for daily newspaper subscription.  Thanks for the removal directions. :-)

so how are we supposed to know who it is?  Jeez!!!  There are a whole bunch of nuts out there (ahem) just waiting for unsuspecting people to fall into their traps.  Everybody's got a scam.  So, since you're sooooo trusting, why don't I just forward all of these random calls to you and you can have the pleasure of getting jammed up.  JEEEEEEZ!!!!!

I also have on do not call. Keep coming in everyday. I am a caregiver a this is a problem for me to keep running to phone. I did answer and no one answers me.

Recording sounded like "The Paper Group".  Selling newspapers subscriptions..  Dial the number back from the number the automated service called.  Press 3 to remove, press 1 to confirm, are you sure?  press 1 again.  Take approx. 48 hrs to remove the number.

Get yourself a call blocker.  If you have an Android phone I recommend Mr. Number.  This number is automatically blocked along with anybody else who tries to call me but refuses to leave a message.  All legitimate callers will leave a message.

For those of you looking for more details, the name of the caller is The PISA group.  They are a telemarketing company located out of Oklahoma.  Amongst other things, they have a very aggressive subscriber retention division.  They work with publications throughout the US, calling former subscribers to get them to come back.  Typically, unless you specifically ask, they will tell you they work for  ________ newspaper with a special offer.  They WILL continue to call if you do not answer.  YOur best bet is to actually answer the call, tell them to remove you, AFTER FINDING OUT WITH NEWSPAPER THEY ARE CALLING ABOUT.  Then follow up with the newspaper directly and tell them you do not want to be contacted again.  If you ARE interested in resubscribing, most newspapers will make the promo rates being offered by third party solicitors.
