Commerce Bank customers -
Do NOT answer the phone if you get a call from 866-203-1396. We let the message go to voicemail and it sounded very professional and legit. My husband called it back referencing the ID number they said. Again, it sounded very professional. They asked for address - he gave number and street but not city and state. They didn't finish the info and wanted him to give city, state, zip code and hubby said no, not giving that - you should have all that info. But they didn't stop there... then they wanted his mother's maiden name! Hubby said "You should have this info if this is legit and I'll just go to the bank and talk with them."  He hung up and said he'd had his suspicions in the first place. I did a reverse phone number check on the number and found that others had had weird experiences also. I wrote Commerce Bank with a detailed account of this.
What a shame that some people will fall for this stuff and be caught up in the web of deceit. And a reminder:

So I got a call for. The number and called back, should I be worried? Or is my account at risk of being compromised?

If they have your name and phone number, they will have your account number.  This number is a scam.  DO NOT CALL BACK.  Go to your Commerce Bank location and report the call.

Call came in on my cell phone. Caller asked for me by name, identified themselves as being from Commerce Bank. Wanted to talk to me about any high interest credit cards I had. Told her I couldn't talk then.  Traced # to Viasystems.

and why wouldn't commerce ask for your card information? It's technically an account number... that's how they operate. By account numbers. That is a stupid thing to say, that a bank won't ask for your account number. Any automated system you call asks... is it so unreasonable to think a person would need that information to pull up your account, too? I don't think so.

Commerce bank calls you and leaves that number so you can reach them directly in the fraud security department... which is what the message says. They may ask for a card number, but it is so they can find you in the system. If your bank calls you and says they want to verify activity on your card... CALL THEM BACK!!!!! They most likely want to keep someone else from using your card fradulently, but need to confirm with you... I know from personal experience.

If you are uncomfortablE giving card information to them, ask if they can ID you another way. Bottom line is that they are looking at the information on their screen. They just need to pull your info up in the system, since they make hundreds of calls a day. Call the number on the back of your card and ask for the security department... but CALL THEM BACK!!

Calling about recent activity on my biz check card

It is being used by phone scammers to obtain your debit card information. They call and leave a message that they are from Commerce Bank and your card has been illegally used in Canada. They say to call them back at 866-203-1396. There you will get a real person who asks for your card information. Commerce Bank will NEVER ask for your card information.

I don't know what this is about.

This is the old main number for Commerce Bank of St. Louis with switchboard in Clayton.

Received three calls in a row from this caller. I answered each call to be hung up on. Tried to call back and phone just rang. I have no idea who this could be. The call said it was Viasystems. ???
