Prank Call
I received a message in our general voicemail box at work, the caller spoke such broken English that I couldn't understand most of what was said and I actually thought he said Scott Middle but now after reading all the other posts I am guessing he said Miller LOL I figured it was some sort of scam so searched the number and found this site...just as I suspected.  Hope no one ever calls them back and the authorities catch up with those people who feel it is ok to dupe poor unsuspecting people who work hard for a living.  I wish below would have scam listed as one of the choices for call type.

I plan on calling "Mr. Scott Miller" when I get home tonight, and after getting him on the phone, blasting an air-horn into the phone.

These are scammers.  Do not believe what they say.  If a person had a legitimate case against them, they would have court documents delivered to them personally and not have a pin head call them and leave a threatening message.

No!!!! This is nothing but a scam....Do not give any money or any personel information to any of them...They say all kinds of things to make you nervous, but none of it is even true...You cannot go to jail for not paying a loan, it will just go on your credit...Hope this helps!

Yes, this is an international extortion scam that has been going on for years. The key to eventually shutting them down will be to get enough people educated about it so they don't end up being victims. The bad thing is--once they have your money, there is nothing you can do to get it back. What is even worse is they will continue to attempt to extort even more money from you after you have been taken.

He says the same to me because of a payday loan company. I have taken out a loan before so I am worried. Can a warrant be issued for a payday loan? He gave me 12 hours to come up with $635 and to pay. I have probation so I was worried. Is this definitely a scam? I'm sure I sound stupid for asking given all the comments but I just want to make sure that I am not actually in trouble.

A recorded message came into my cell phone from Attorney Scott Miller...blah blah.  Then it called my office number and Attorney Scott Miller, who is an attorney...he said 3 times was calling from Merchant Grace Law Office from St. Louis, Missouri (which doesn't exist).  Wanted my attorney of records information so they can send the affidavit to him for my case tomorrow @ 11 am.  I said yeah right, this is all a scam.  He said he wished me well and god bless me as I will be arrested in 1 hour.  I said try it and don't ever call here again.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

I received a call from them this morning.  Mr. "Scott Miller" attorney at law, he said I will be arrested If I don't call back.  (first clue)
I call the number I have no idea what the woman is saying, something about an old bill that I owe, she proceeds to threaten..  (second clue)

Then when I finally can get the woman on the line who says she works at a "law office", I asked which one, she didn't have an answer for me.  (third clue)

I finally told them to take me off the scam list, and I am reporting to the local police dept., she hung up on me!  (fourth clue)

These people are scum and preying on the innocent.  Please always report these type of calls so they can be finally caught!

Good luck!

I received the same phone call telling me I have a case in the court and I will be arrested at my place of business if my attorny or myself doesn't call him back. Well, Mr. Attorney Scott Miller, come arrest me, I work for the FBI and will turn this phone number over to the people who have had you under surveillance for a very long time. Keep it up, Attorney Scott Miller, from INDIA who can't speak proper english. Please know everyone, there is an app that can be used to show a number from anywhere...this guy is more than likely in India, which is going to be hard to track down but they are working on finding these people.

Mr. Scott Miller says he has filed with the court and that I could be arrested at any time.  I looked this up and found it to be a scam.  A previous complaint says to report it to your local authorities and they are trying to commit identity fraud.  Do not give them any personal information and let them know you know they are a scam.
