They really don't pay for long distance.   Apparently, I was told by RCMP, that it is a scam, and they use other numbers as well.   It's called "spoofing".  That's why you get a lot of local area numbers.
And the police can do nothing.   So just don't be taken in by them.
I also got a lot of "Windows" callers, saying there was a virus with my computer.   Of course when you punch in the code they tell you to.   Your computer crashes.   You become a their hostage.   They have been known to get into your bank accounts and clean them out.   And they have all your info that was on the computer.    That can take months to clean up.   It happened to a worker at my daughter-in-law's work, That woman is still going through hell because to them.   And they use many different numbers, not all the same.    So please, be careful.

Calling us in Etobicoke over and over. Nobody answered and is like someone is checking if nobody is home, so somebody else would come and break-in. Is an old trick used by thieves.

Got call this afternoon, Cambridge, Ontario did not leave a message.

Calling us in Hamilton over and over.  Same story as everyone else.  You pick up the phone and they do not answer.  I would hate to see their long distance charges on the phone bill.  Maybe they have COMWAVE.

Called for 3 days and finally caught me home.  Strong Indian accent female wanted to return money to my father who has been dead for almost 20 years.  When my husband said she can return the money to his surviving wife, she started asking questions on deatails about his death, how long ago, how he died, suggesting she would give the money to charity instead, saying she did not want to give the money to his wife.  We knew this was a scam and my husband started to get a bit hostle and she swore at him before he hung up.  Be careful, don't get sucked in!

They call x3 per day on average, I pick it up and no response so I hang up.

I'm in Barrie, same thing calls both  my phone numbers (1 is unlisted) nobody there when I answer.

Indian caller calling from ontario homes. Said he was in new jersey and contracted to call ontario homes about renovation tax grant. scam to get money do not give him info.

In Oshawa, calling every day, sometimes several times and no one there when I pick up.  Today I picked up on first ring, and the person with a strong Indian accent only spoke after I said hello 3 times.  I said the person he wanted was not home and to call back in an hour.  Said he was "Ontario Homes".  I have blocked the number, and sure enough it rang again after 40 min.

Just called twice in 10mins.  F'n robo-sailers!!!!!
