same here. a debt consolidation firm. Read that they are a scam. won't take me off list to call.

I hate to state the obvious, but does everyone know that allowing VM or an answering machine to answer IS answering and confirming that your # is live? I have had much success in just allowing my phone to ring and ring and using just caller ID. I still get occasional telemarketer calls, but not every day or 5 to 7 times per day. Why pay for VM to a company that refuses to protect you from thieves and weasels?

I just discovered that you don't have to put your # out there. I just called Direct TV this afternoon, and I did not give them my phone # which is unpublished and blocked. I was surprised and angry when their answering system--not even a human-- asked if I was calling from the number at my personal residence and then they spouted off my allegedly "private and unlisted" phone number. I then called Verizon and was informed that "large corporations" have the technical ability to get through the defenses that one pays for every month, and can get anyone's number. And Verizon can't counter this technology? I don't believe it, but it's good to know, huh? I was steamed. Then I called the NYS Public Service Commission, and was told that Verizon was correct. I asked whose fault it was for allowing their obvious fraud in selling what you believe is technology and services that protect your number from being in the wild, and neither the woman I as speaking to at the PSC or the woman at Verizon could or would answer my question. I suspect the NYS legislature allows, through it's legislation or failure to legislate such behavior as this fraud. Who do they work for? Big business or the taxpayers who pay their salaries? I cannot believe I typed that question with a straight face. We should not have to pay taxes for corporate shills. Anyone else in other states having a problem like this? No wonder the telemarketers are having such an easy time getting our "private" numbers.

866-246-7196 is also the phone number of a scammer. If you call it and request to removed from "their" calling list, you have done the complete opposite and just added your phone number to a sucker list. Don't be trusting any information on blogs that say "call this number and all will be fine."  They are all scammers working for the same purpose and they feed on your gullibility. Save the world...kill a telemarketer.

They called at 3:16PM.  Let it go to VM.

I have now blocked the ENTIRE 315 AREA CODE!!!   HA!!!

For my office phones, I have the Digitone Blocker (thru Amazon) - it blocks individual numbers and can block ENTIRE AREA CODES!  Got 'em!

For my home line, I got the new Panasonic phone that blocks 250 numbers.  Sadly, it will not block entire area codes.

Regardless, everyone please buy a blocking device.

I was not at home when they called. They left voice mail wanting to lower interest rate on mortgage. This number must have several scams going from reading other comments. I blocked them.

I just filled this out and forgot to say I live in Idaho. Man this thing is all over the place. When you do get a call back from them you keep talking to person to person .

I also tried to call back on my cell phone and could not get thru to any company. They called me back and it was a SCAM FOR CREDIT CARD REDUCTION. CARE NET. HAD TO CHANGE ALL MY CREDIT CARDS SOMEDAYS IT JUST DOESN'T PAY TO CALL BACK THINKING I MISSED AN IMPORTANT CALL. I don't understand alot about all this stuff so be very aware of what you are doing. I'm thinking all this technology is good in a whole lot of ways but also good for bad people.

If everyone would not answer unknown long distance calls eventually they would all stop...eventually... I quit answering them awhile back...because of the number spoofing etc. and cloning phone numbers the scammers in Nigeria and in the UK are doing.....     Come on people we all need to ban together!!!

My 17 yr old son is getting this on his cell phone the id says from New York buthe has not answered it and they leave no message.

Called on 4/22 from Clayton, NY. I didn't answer and they didn't leave MSG. I also have LinkedIn profile.

This number came up as R2J2 on my caller id. When I called the number back it said, "press 1 to be on a do not call list. No other information was given. I just hung up.

No message ever left. I am with clients daily and do not answer. If someone wants me badly enough, they will leave a message.

Seattle area.  They called, left no msg.

Stop these calls!  I'm on numerous DO NOT CALL lists.

Got call on cell  phone at 10am, busy at work, clicked decline to answer.  No message left.  Caller ID said New York.

Received call on my cell from this number on 4/23, Reno NV.  they didn't leave a  voice mail .  I agree. No VM message, no reply from me!
