This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!  It doesn't do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  The caller ID number is usually a ?Spoof Number? ? A Fake!  Never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robocallers will then capture your number as a ?live one? and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.  The same goes if it prompts you to ?press a key? to ?opt out?  of their calling lists, or be transferred to someone, as this will only ?log? your number as a working one and make it ripe for future calls and to be sold to other scam companies as well.
The best option is simply to hang up, keep your own list of calling numbers with dates and times and report them to the FCC below.  There is space on their complaint form to list several calling dates and times of a repeat caller.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

Call from this number and Clayton, OH showed up on the caller ID, didn't recognize the number and let the answering machine handle it. Of course they didn't leave a message, probably some losers trying to scam.

Tell them your credit is so bad you don't have a credit card. Ask them for their mailing address. Two can play the game.

No No No! Even if you owe the money, even if it is a legit collection effort, never ever give up your debit card info. Don't deal with debt collectors online or over the phone. Tell them to send you a firm settlement offer in writing to your address or better still PO Box. Then if, and only if, you and they agree on the amount to settle the debt in full pay them with postal money order(s) sent priority mail. Keep all the paperwork and money order receipt(s). The priority mail give you free delivery confirmation.  And, again, never let anyone directly access your account. Good luck.

Just got a call and it was a recording about uninsured individuals. I quickly hung up and googled the number.

First, if you have caller ID, do not answer if you don't know the caller.

Second, if you answer NEVER NEVER NEVER confirm or give any personal info including your name.

Third, don't believe the number and name on the caller ID, they SPOOF them, which means they can call you from India and their computer sends a Caller ID signal that can say anything they want.

Got a call, left no voicemail. Tried calling back here (as others did)  several times and received either of 2 messages. First was: "You have reach a non-working number. Announcement 14 Switch 8-11", which is odd because the number worked well enough to call me! The second message is "Please press any digit to be added to the do-not-call list", repeated twice, but if you do not hit a digit it announces it will connect you... then hangs up. I attempted hitting the '#' sign the second time I got this message, so I may not get another call.

Sounds like a scammer trying to get old/poor people who might not know any better. If you get a call from them, DEMAND that they send you any documentation on hand, preferably through email.

I keep getting calls from this number, and nobody says a word. I've said "hello" about 6 times before hanging up. Last time, it went to my answering machine and I heard somebody cough and papers shuffling, and then it hung up.

The b****oles of 315-285-9114 are now calling from 804-781-7998.. the same Middle Eastern guy with the same script and I see he got my cell to my job and my personal.  BEWARE... I am going to report this number as well... keep your eyes open to now local numbers for your attention.

yep they called me too saying i failed to pay a payday loan that was supposed to done online that i never got i had filed for a couple but was denied. and now these people are tryin to tell me i owe 576.99. that i never got so screw that i am not paying back something i didnt get. i think it is a scam too!!!

This person called himself Officer Jones. He called me three times (once on my cellphone and twice at work). The telephone number this person gave me is (315) 285-9114. Can I file a complaint with the attorney general's office? The calls to my cellphone and to my job were at 2:01am.

I keep getting calls from this number and others with the same area code telling me I failed to pay a payday loan.  I have never taken out an online payday loan and when I ask for more information they hang up.  I believe it is a scam!!!

I have this person on the line claiming to be from a law firm asking for my attorney. They are stating that I have an unpaid balance for a loan of some sort & they are going to prosecute me. I told him that I don't owe anything to them & he better not ever call my phone again & if he does I will report him to the attorney general. He just said "Ok thank you" & hung up.
