UGHHHH I go this call too, it sucks, they call me now every month, with deep Indian accents, and threatning jail and prosecution if I do not pay by 11am. luckily the first time they did this, and I just about fell for it and faxed a letter to them, I called a attorney hotline and they informed me it was a scam to not worry, so I am not worried anymore just extremely tired of these people calling, just got a call right now, 315-294-9454 but tried to call to tell them a piece of my mind but number doesnt even work and they just called me.  I would love to help stop these people too, if anyone knows what to do or needs me i'm willing to be included in this process email me santabarbaragirl4god@gmail.com

I have been receiving these phone calls every month since March on my cell phone. The first few times it was a man calling threating that I owed $5000.00 for a payday loan back in August 2009. This included attorney fees but the loan was for only $300.00. I almost had a heart attack screaming in this man ears. He threated also to have the police pick me up from my job or home. Someone has called a few times every month since March with a different number mostly an out of country number. I have gotten to the point that I don't even answer my phone but its becoming annoying. Yesterday and today I have a lady by the name Carol Smith called from 315-294-9467 with the same message as if they are reading off  a piece of paper. She states that this is my last chance and she wishes me luck.  Please if anyone can give any advice on this as least to get these phone calls stopped would be the best help ever.

I received the same call from this place. Thick Indian accents.  Stating that I owed 300.00 and I am to pay them 5,000.  If not they will send a letter to my employer stating that I committed Fraud and Stole money and tell them to terminate me!  Then stated they would have a court officer come to my job and take me to court to be tried where i will receive jail time with three counts of federal offenses against me!  They said they were calling from LLC Lawfirm.  Scared the crap out of me.  Glad I found this on here.  Can they really do this???  Is this really a scam???  They knew my email address last four digits of my SS, My husbands name and my daughters name and said that they would be brought up on charges if I didn;t pay the money.

Wow, they also knew my moms name, my social, DL, and which banked I used. Even though I haven't banked with that company in yrs it's still scary. They said I had to pay 5K or I would be arrested, along with my employer at 11am the following day for 3 counts of fraud. They left a message on my Supervisors voicemail which nearly got me fired until I googled their number and this page came up. Thank goodness for all the complaints because my employer actually thought I had committed some sort of check fraud. They've called me 5 times today and I need to know how to stop them! This is crazy. Someone else may not know to google their phone number and could lose their job like I almost did today.

same phone number and type calls from Chris Carter. Threats of a lawsuit and they had all my personal info, name, SS# and work info.  When they called me at work, I had a fit and call FTC and reported all the  info and the phone number.  They advised me to put Fraud alerts on all three credit bureaus for my protection, which I had already done.  If they call again, file a report with your local police department.

I started getting these calls yesterday.  The number that showed up on my phone was 0000.  I didn't answer and withing a one minute span they hung up and called back seven times!  Then they called me at 6:30 this morning and again I didn't answer.  A man with a very thick accent who said his name was Andrew Carter left a message saying I had to call him back immediately and if I choose not to he can only pray for me with what I have brought to unfold on myself???  WTH?   When they called again this morning after I got to work I was furious and answered and before he could speak I told him he was in violation of the FDCPA.  First of all if it was a debt collectors they are only allowed to call between 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. He immediately began talking over me and told me that I had three lawsuits being filed against me at 11:00 tomorrow.  I asked him for the name of his "firm" and he reluctantly said it was AMG, LLC.  He told me he needed to confirm my social and I told him I would absolutely not confirm anything with him.  He had my personal information! I aksed him for the address of his company and he refused to give it to me.  He said he needed me to confirm my social first.  Then I said I needed to speak with his supervisor and he told me he wouldn't let me until I confirmed my social!  This confirmed to me that this was a scam so I hung up.  He called right back and my coworker answered for me.  He told her that he needed to confirm my social and gave it to her!  She told him that the police had already been called and the phone call was being traced and he hung up on her.  The phone number he had left me in the previous message was 315-294-9454.  I am going to contact my local attorney general.

I got a call from this number Friday June 11 immediately asking for my attorneys information.   They claimed that I had until 11am the next day to resolve a delinquent payday loan or their Client (Advance America) was prepared to file suite against me for 3 criminal charges.  I asked them for the loan originator and all they would tell me was that their client had over 500 websites and I applied for a loan on one of them.  I tried to get a date and original loan amount but they would not provide it to me.  They asked me if I had ever been conficted of such a crime and tried to scare me into paying 1290.00 to them as an OCR.  After going round with them I asked for a number to call them back at because I was at my office desk.  When I called 315 294 9454 a man answered the phone "hello can I help you".  I found this to be very strange.  When I was finally directed to Melissa Smith again I brought to her attention that it was strange to me that I Law Office doesnt answer the phone with a greeting.  I then asked her to assure me that I wasnt being scammed.  She felt threatened and wanted to end the call.  Worried that I would indeed be prosecuted I fell to her mercy and asked her to help me resolve this.  She stated that she had my bank info, ssn, references etc and that it was ligit.  She walked me thru a script that I was to print out in my own hand writing and fax to her along with a copy of my DL.  I did fall to faxing her an intent to resolve letter along with a copy of my work ID.  Although I didnt provide her with enough bank info to follow thru with the process.  I looked into the number via website and found numerous blogs complaining of very similar situations.  I was convinced this was a scam.  They have called back 7 times since.  They left one msg on my office phone stating that I needed to contact them regarding payment.

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.

To register a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General?s Consumer Protection Division, call 1(800) 432-2310 or visit www.ksag.org.

Same EXACT telephone call: Daily calls from 916 395 0000, person identifies themselves as "SAMUEL GREEN", heavy accent (I thought might be Caribbean or Indian), threatening tone, "call 315 294 9454 immediately", "have attorney call", blah blah blah. It's a script - they say exactly the same thing every day, and everyone gets the same call. Luckily for me, they have the wrong name and I never used any such service. Disregard or report to authorities: FTC, your state's attorney general, possibly FBI.

So I googled the number he told me to call and this site came up. The number he called from is 1-916-395-0000. Name given Samuel Green- I think.
