Hilarious. Had "Harry Thomas" on the phone 30 minutes, total twit. I started going down the whole, i use linux route, which he replies with, i know you use windows, and told me my address, pronunciation of which was very funny to hear!

After showing me the windows error log, confirming that i had a virus, he was flustered when asked questions like, why does an error stating a program had shut down normally, or my router had timed out indicate a virus!

Well apparently, it does, so off to the website we go, where for a technical support website has a lot of errors. The only link that actually works is to a list of satisfied customers comments, which dare i say are made up?

Well i said i would have to confirm with microsoft first that they where working with there authority, explaining there where a lot of scams out there. Some hollering in his native tongue occurred followed by he insisting i must connect to the website NOW as my virus (that i don't have) could do terrible damage!!  I assume clicking the connect now button downloads a worm or trojan thing and gives them control of my PC

I thought it would be nice to end on a friendly note so enquired as to whether he had been trained by the university of Kelloggs, as he clearly had very limited knowledge. That being said, he had an answers to my favourite "i use linux" and "which version of windows has the problem" questions.

I received a call from X INFINITY saying I had errors on my computers that was preventing me from going on the internet.  This of course was not true! I went along with them because it was obviously a scam. They lead me to computer management were any computer would show errors but inexperienced users may think there was a problem with their computer and internet connection.  "Alex Matthew" told me to go to www.xinfinitytech.com and download a program, which did NOT do.  I told him I needed to call him back to finish this "fix".  I asked for a number and he gave 315-506-4544.  I googled it and got this site.  I have reported to Comcast since they are playing their "XFINITY" name and to FTC.gov also my Norton Internet Security.

Same story here. Actually my wife answered the phone as I was at work. Glad she as skeptical as I am. Indian Accented man said his name was Sharon Angel and that he was from .. you guessed it..Infinity Tech. Asked for numbers off the computer. Also was very short tempered because my wife was not giving him any information. He left his number 315-506-4544. said to have me call him back.

Next day... Same person called again..wife answered again... asked for numbers off computer again.. but this time he said his name was Pam Anderson..(really?)... wife gave him the same answers as yesterday... he got mad at her and said "Well he never called me back!" . He left a different number this time.... 1.800.408.3290.I wish I could recored these conversations.

Now my wife is kind of scared because he was asking some invasive questions... are you home alone..how long.. when will your husband be back...etc..,

Shes also worried that they got to her computer. luckily I turned off the network adapter on my wifes comp  by coincidence. Running 3 firewalls and some other security software..

Received a call about a week ago from "Steven" for Infinity that was from Tech Support and working with Microsoft and their Windows operating system. He also asked if my computer was on and he could help me fix my issues with virues. Ii told him it wasn't on but he could walk me through it and I'd have my computer person look at it. He then went through all the steps where I needed to go on the computer to fix the problem. He tried over and over again to get me to turn my computer on. I then told him, I don't know you and do you really think I'm going to have you help me. I then ask him how he got my number and did he have an address. He then mubled no street address and then said Torrance, which is a few cities over from me. i told him wrong address goodbye. Well this morning at 5:15 am he called back and woke me up.  When I heard his voice I screamed not you again...stop calling and hung up on him.

I just got a call from "Charlie" with  a  heavy indian accent. He said he was with Windows and that my computer was at risk and he wanted me to turn it on so he could instruct me in fixing my problem.  I told him I just downloaded from Microsoft their latest security 2 weeks ago, then he said " that's how the problem got in my computer."  Knowing at this point this was a scam, I told him that I didn't have the time but could I get his number and call him back?  He said, that he'd call me back but I was adamant about getting his number  so he rattled it off to me too fast so in an annoyed voice I told him to repeat himself. At this point I stat flipping him some crap cause after he told me his number he said he was calling from Washington, where I happen to be from  and the area code was incorrect so I brought it to his attention . He didn't like that. Ha!

I got the call yesterday.  Same story: they were receiving error messages, my computer will crash soon, go to computer so they can fix it.  Caller said his name was Rex Martine.  He works for a company called X Infinity (or Ask Infinity, or Xfinity) that has some kind of working arrangement with Microsoft.  Heavy mid-eastern accent.  Initially, I hung up.  He called back immediately and said this was important.  I asked for his phone number and told him I would call back.  Number given was --- 315-506-4544.

Thanks to whomever set up this report site to channel this information.

Received a call from caller ID 1110000000000 today - strong foreign accent - said his name was Mike. Said my computer was sending error message from Windows and he was from Windows Tech Support and needed to assist me in getting my computer cleaned and back in running order. I could barely understand him and had him repeat himself several times. He wanted me to allow him access to my computer and when I asked for a phone number to call him back on - he wanted to know why. I told him I wanted to make sure he was from Windows Tech Support and I would need to speak to a supervisor. He gave me the 315-506-4544 call back number and said he was a supervisor and to ask for him, James.  I reminded him that when he first called, he introduced himself as Mike and now he is James?  He said he goes by both names. HA HA HA!!!! I told him this was a scam and I was reporting the number to the ICC, Attorney General's Office and to Microsoft. He hung up on me.

Oh yeah.  Got a call today.   What a joke.  First, I had difficulty understanding his accent - India?   The guy kept changing his story and I frustrated him so badly that he became rude and I hung up.  He called me right back and apologized for his rude behavior and then started up again.   I couldn't get him to tell me the name of his company.  And his story changed repeatedly again.   I told him that I'd write down the instructions and have my nephew - a computer tech - take a look at it for me.   He insisted that I take his number and call him back so he could "fix" it.   Right.   Like that's gonna happen!

Since they've remoted into your PC, they may have installed malware and/or a backdoor. Get off the net, malware may call home and download more nasties. At a minimum, you should System Restore to an operating point before the criminal called you. Best to take it to a local shop, tell them what happened and pay them to fix it. Do not log in to any account (email, bank, facebook, etc.) until you get it cleaned out. They can also steal your money, your ID, your files. Modern malware is stealthy and silent. This is potentially a very serious matter, do not take this incident lightly.
