Yup I Got A Call Yesterday And This Morning, He Was Very Persistent, and Today When He Called I Googled The Command He Was Asking me to type in and It Showed me it was a scam, so i told him okay if you work with windows why am i getting a private number, and if my computer is sending reports that its getting a virus, how come a year ago, when i did have a computer that was getting viruses, you guys never contacted me, this is the first time i receive a call from you guys why?, and he just said "ma'am we are from windows technical support, and we have received error reports that your computer is downloading malware..." and i said okay again you guys never called me before so why now? and he said the same thing, and i was like youre not really answering my question here, so then i told him okay even if i go thru with this, i dont have any money to pay you, and he goes no money? i was like no, thats the whole reason why i am working?! and he goes okay ma'am this is up to you, but let me tell you this, youre computer might crash in any moment, we are here to help you, and i was like i still have no money, so does it really matter, and he goes not even 50 dollars, i was like nope, i have things to pay, and he goes when do you get paid, i was like idk maybe two weeks, and i was like sorry and he said something, but he sounded mad, and he hung up.
I suggest to ask for his supervisor like that one guy said and take it from there and ask them why the call private and ask for the number, and if they said we cant give it to you till after we check your computer go by the way is it 315-557-6511, and see their reaction :D

Got this call around 9 PM on August 20th. After listening to the guy for a few minutes I asked what city he was in. He said "Sun City, Florida". I asked him what large city that was near. He couldn't answer. (correct answer is Tampa). I asked him what highway runs through Sun City, he couldn't answer. He told me I was wasting his time. We agreed to end our call soon after.

05/31/12 Just got the same call; I did have virus attack this week and listened to their story. How do they know when it is happening, as well as my computer id number and my home number? Didn't trust it and hung up. Sure sounds like a scam!!

Wife got same come-on about the error messages our computer was sending them. While it was powered down. Said they were from Dell. But when she had them call me, said they were from MS. With HQ in NY. But caller claimed he was from Austin. Definite scam.

They are still at it. This time, we were actively trying to fix a virus attack and had just shut down the PC and were re-booting when the phone rang. He asked if the PC was doing this and that, and of course it was doing exactly what he was asking. {Of course, his organization wrote the malware that was causing the problem!]
We hung up when he asked about the $100, $200, and $300 deal for anti-malware.
The product he was offering was something called Windows Shield, which I have since Googled and that product is malware.
Has anyone who received this call gotten Identity Theft or any other type problem? It sure seems strange that this guy knew our phone number at exactly the time we were having the problem. If he knows our phone, what else does he know?

WARNING-They are still at it. They just tried me in Ohio but did not like being questioned. I did not allow them to get any information from me or even start with my computer. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO EVEN START.

I just received a call from these people on May 11th saying they were from Microsoft and said that my computer was sending them error messages. I thought that they were legit and I let them check my computer. Just as Mats post said it had showed error messages. I then started to question them after they wanted to charge me for their antivirus software and that it would cost me $100.00 for one year. $200.00 for two years and $300.00 for a lifetime. I then told them that I could not afford it and they were asking me how much I could pay. I told them that I could not afford anything right now and then they started to lower their price. I told them that I have a computer guy that checks my computer every month and I asked them if I could get their phone number being that it showed unknown on my caller ID. This is the number that they gave me. After asking too many questions after having me on the phone for almost a full hour they finally hung up. I hope that they did not get any of my personal information and I did notify my personal bank and called the number on the back of my credit card. I just found out after these people hung up that I found out that they were a scam. They sounded like they had accents like they were from India and the connection was poor. I am sure that this probably
happened to other people as well.

I just recieved a call from this # said they were the windows op system company and they had recieved a message from my computer that there was a problem like a virus. said my antivirus system wouldn't detect it because it was already on it. He lead me through the computer managment>event viewer>windows log>applications and asked if i had warnings and errors in the log which I did. He said their microsoft service guy needed access to my computer. I got the creapy vibes that this was a scam. of course he said they were legit. If you let someone take control of your computer they can do all sorts of things that you will not be able to see such as copying all of your personal files. I couldn't understand them most of the time and this number from Clinton N.Y. probably is just a number they have the call rerouted though to hide who they really are.
