I just received a disturbing voice mail.  I called it back and spoke to the same man.  I kept asking him to tell me what this was about but he wouldn't and got hateful.  Needless to say I got hateful and he threaten to call my employer!

Hey goofy - if you read what I posted, I commented that this fits the MO of foreign extortionist scammers and that there is NO debt.  Maybe you should go back, re-read the OP's comment and then mine.  You're welcome.

Hey Goofy, where did the poster say that? Do you need glasses so you can read better?   On the base of that post it is a 100% extortion scam operation.

While the rest of your post is spot on as far as debt validation, the best thing you can do is to leave regular and highly respected members here alone who do know the FDCPA laws already and the difference between a real verifiable business Identity and a extortion scam operation alone.

I received a voice mail from this number, same ending about need for us or our attorney to contact them or "I wish you good luck".  I called back and asked what it was regarding asked why the threats - to which the guy said "Shut Up" and hung up! Called back again to make sure I had the name - Mark Rothman and Associates, but the guy refused to give me his name or his supervisor.  Obviously a scam. Do not know if he had our name or social security #.

I got a call from this number today. They asked for a name (not mine). I said ... Who is this? He said Fu@k off! and hung up on me.... Middle eastern accent and all !!!!

This is exactly what the man said when he left a voice mail message for me. The exact same scripted words. But when I called back the first time he told me that Felony charges were going to be filed against me; when I asked why; he told me that was not important as I was not cooperating with them.
When I asked his name he stated it was "Charles Green". I asked for the company name he told me to hang up and call back as he was not going to repeat it. So I did just that; this time another guy named "Brad" answered and stated a different name of the company (Mark Rothman and Assoc.) This guy claimed that Because I was not cooperative with the last call; he was going to bid me farewell and pray for God to have mercy. Each time I called back; the personal information given was out dated. The only scary part was them stating the last four of my social sec. number. I contacted the police and made a report as well as posting this reply. Just as I did not verify my information I would suggest all not to divulge personal information.

Told me or my attorney to call back within 24hours or legal process will  begin

THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END OF LINE WAS A MAN BY THE NAME OF,CHARLES  GREEN. HE MADE THREATS TO ME. HE SAID I OWED $300 WHICH NOW WAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1600 WHICH I HAD TO PAY RIGHT AWAY OR ME AND MY EMPLOYER WOULD  BE ARRESTED THE NEXT DAY. I PAID THE ONLINE LOANS, AND AM PAYING ON THE OTHERS. THIS MAN MUST BE STOPPED!

Got a similar call from middle eastern man "I need you or your retained attorney of records to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensative. My name Brad and the hotline to my ??? is 315-567-4622 i repeat 315-567-4622. DONT disregard this message, return the call - now. If you dont return the call or I don't hear from your attorney either, the only thing Im gonna do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you. Goodbye"

The person posting that you commented on   DID SAY HE DID RECEIVE A LOAN FROM THEM !!
So on the face of it, they are trying to collect that loan.


I suggest the guy tell the collection agency that he wants the   ALLEGED DEBT VERIFIED according to the
FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT. Telling them to not call back until they send him verification of alleged
debt. Tell them if they continue to call without sending him valid verification of the debt according to federal law'
that he ( the collector ) is the one who will need luck.

Also, it is NOT illegal to speak with an attorney.  That is funny.  Maybe in India it is but no here in the U.S.
Actually the opposing attorney who is sueing you has by law to attempt to settle the case before any court
will hear it.
The only way you will be served to come to court is by the sheriff or a licensed process server coming to you in
person and serving you with court papers.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I received a phone call from the mentioned number. I rejected the call and was left a voicemail on my phone stating he was calling from Mark Rodman and Associates about a bad payday loan debt for $300 and was being sued from this lawfirm out of New York. He asked for me or my attorney to call them back. I called the number and spoke to the same Middle Eastern/Indian accented man who read off a long report about a case being filed against me at 11:00 am tomorrow morning if I did not pay $300 owed from AACA that was electronically funded to my banking account. The man knew my social security number, bank name, my place of employment and email address.

I proceeded to question him about which court the complaint was filed with and he said there was no case number yet until 11:00am tomorrow. I then asked questions about the law firm, including the name, phone number and a bar association number affiliated with the law firm. He laughed and said that it was the number I called back on and gave me the mentioned address, which upon searching online I was not able to find the mentioned law firm by that number or address. He then gave me a bar number for "Mark Rodman" which was 178254-NY.

After doing the research, I called the number back and the same man, who now used a different name from when he first called, stated that he did not speak with me previously and that he just got off the phone with a different person. I asked to speak with Mark Rodman directly, but was told that it was illegal to speak directly to attorneys. He was very rude, arrogant and after telling him I found no records of Mark Rodman and Associates not to contact me again. He then told me "Do what you think you can do and good luck" then hung up on me.
