Today I received a call from an unavailable number on my phone at 12:05pm. The person said they were from Windows tech support and that his name was James. That was a clue right there sense his English was broken and he had a hard time answering my questions. After question him I was able to get a number to call him back...I explained that I was at work and there was no way that I had access to my computer right now. The number he gave was 315-683-3004. As a paralegal it did not take me but a minute to research and discover that this was a scam. I followed up by call windows to let them know and then I report the information to consumer affairs and U.S . Department of Justice (703) 299-3700 just in case anyone else would like to report this scam as well.  I hope this information helps some one or at the very least keeps them from allowing these people access to their computer.

I got a call from 000-0000-0000 and then from a number I did not record.  A "Sam Wilson" (should have been a red flag), who revealed only his first name until the end of the conversation.  He said he was from Windows PC technical department.  I asked him where that was--he said Rodchester, NY and gave me the address as 39 West Main Street, with zip of 14614 and phone number 315-683-3304 extension 108.  I asked multiple times how would I know he is a Windows person....and how did he know I might need some assistance?

He said that when I registered my computer, when I purchased it (many years ago)--Windows had some way to get error messages if my computer was in danger of crashing and losing all my data.  He told me to open my PC, so that they could do a repair I needed.  Then he had me do a Control and Windows key so that I could eventually get to Custom View/Local and got a listing of Administrative Errors.

In the meantime, I looked up PC and Windows in Rodchester...and that seems to exist.  So, I continued...but when I looked at the incidents, I saw I had had them in the past as well...and there was no problem.  Also, I saw that it included multiple sessions with one of the programs...as if it were just a recording of what I had been doing.  So the errors looked suspect.  Also, I had NEVER had a call from Windows PC or Windows repair which I had not initiated.  What threw me is that I had been on line recently looking for a fix for a particular problem...so I was vulnerable.  Also, I do not know the procedures of Windows PC and Microsoft.  I am sure Bill Gates will be astounded that this is happening!

I told the guy that I did not know if I could trust him.  Then he said he would put on his "Senior Technician" which he did.  All the while, it sounded like there was noise in the background...and I heard an echo of my voice on the line...which says to me that it was likely an overseas call.  The Sr. Technician came on, who said his name was "Jack Miller" and that his number was 315-944-2628.   He wanted to plug into my computer--not sure to what.  I got skeptical because the name was too non-descript...and both guys were Asian--possibly Chinese...but, of course, I could not tell except that the English pronunciation sounded Asian (no "v"s..etc.)  I told him I would call back.

I called Intrex, which is a valid computer repair company, and the people there confirmed that this is a scam.  I was so upset.  I almost got scammed...and I am no dummy!

The scammers have gotten very clever.  I wish there was some way to handle this and put all these crooks in jail!  Looks like we need an International Cyberscam agrement to fight cyber crime no matter on what continent it originates.  Good luck and beware to all those who want to believe in people and trust the people of the world.  It is a shame that there are those who will take advantage in this way.

Rec'd call from "David" who gained access to my Windows PC, he transferred me to "Mark" who was the 'closer' to get payment.  However, using my Apple laptop while they were on the PC was able to verify that this is a scam.  Have shutdown the PC (which is only used for) e-mail access and non-secure communication.  However, may just scrap the 9 year old computer since it does not have important files on it.

"June" called me yesterday afternoon saying she was from Window PC Services and that she was going to help with a problem. Coincidentally, I was having a problem opening a file in Word which I had just fixed. The caller ID on my phone showed "private caller" so I thought it might be a friend with an unlisted number.  When I asked for her number, she said it was 315-683-3004, ext. 105.  Her accent sounded South Asian.  This call sounded suspicious so I hung up.

Huge scam... they call pretending to be with "Windows Tech Support" implying Microsoft of course, and then try to get you to install software on your computer to prevent crashes.

I asked for a number to call them back and they gave me 315-683-3004.

I've reported them to Microsoft and the FTC.

Recieved a call from a James with Windows Tech. support saying there is a problem with my computer.  James asked if I was at my computer I told him I was at work he left me his # to call him back. I asked James how he got my phone # he stated when I registered my computer.  I researched this number and just as I suspected it is a scam.  I did not enter my cell # when I registered my computer. Also the number that showed up on my caller ID was 000-000-0000

I received a call from "James" at "Windows Technical Department" which I immediately suspected to be a scam.  I asked him if he worked for Microsoft, to which after the slightest hesitation, he replied "Yes".  I asked for a number that I could call him back on and he gave 315-683-3004.  Immediately googled it and it appears as a contact number on pcsupportcenter dot net/contact dot html.  Same drill as before:  my computer is reporting to "Windows Main Web Server" lots of errors etc etc.

I did not get as far as letting him onto my machine because I confronted him about working for Microsoft.  First he said I didn't not ask him that.  Then I asked him again if he worked for Microsoft; slightest of hesitations and again "Yes".  I said he did not work for Microsoft and he said yes he did but he was not going to try to prove it to me.  At which point I hung up.

Same thing happened to me on July 23. A call from "Fabius" at this number in NY. Said he was calling  from "Windows" about a problem with my computer. I told him "not interested" and hung up. I hope the feds find this jerk and bust him to bits, and that goes for every other scammer/hacker on the planet.

Got this call at 7 pm on 7/15/13.   Caller ID shows up as Fabius  NY   .......argued with some foreigner regarding her telling me that something was wrong with my computer and she wanted to help.   I screamed at her asking who informed her that I was having problems.......(which I wasn't)......... she told me it was my loss since she is not going to help me with my problem.  I yelled some more and she hung up on me.

I am so angry right now that I would love to get these people in trouble calling me and spoiling my dinner.
