It's Sallie Mae, in my case they stated they changed a billing address, a year ago, it's June 2014. They stated the last payment they received for this billing was in April 2014, so they received 10 months of payments but not the last 2 months.(they were still getting payments for the main loan not the private loans.) I explained to them that if they were receiving payments then the payments stop that it's an issue on their side. Then they called at 8:30 pm. I called them back stating the issue is on their end so stop calling, the supervisor hung up on me.

Is there any legal action that can be taken against this obnoxious and lack of ethics entity with this phone number? Why is this company whatever it is targeting people in general even those of us who has clean records and no debt? If it is Sallie Mae, as a private corporation should have some minimum level standard of ethics. Do they have any?

I have never done business with sallie mae. Yet somehow they insist on calling my cellphone number! I told them they have the wrong number yet they continue to call sometimes 5 times a day. It's time to get out the old modem, auto dial the s#!t out of their number and see how they like it!!

I've asked them to stop calling me at my home and at my office.
They have been calling me once or twice a day and not leaving a message.
I co-signed loans for my niece.

I'm receiving 4 to 5 calls a day from this number and it's beginning to affect my temp office job. This needs to stop now! I don't see the logic in attempting to collect by such harassment.

No matter what DNC list you're on, these scammers and collectors will harass you.  However, the frequency of calls has greatly diminished since I now answer all calls with, "You have reached the United States Department of Homeland Security Fraudulent Claims.  How may I direct your call?"  They always hang up and NEVER call back.

This number calls me 8 times a day. If they can't leave a message telling me what the **** they want, I'm not returning a call. If it is in fact Sallie Mae, at my age I don't HAVE student loans.

My payment is only 24 days past due. She kept insisting I had missed a payment, so I asked her which month I had missed. They put me on hold and 20 minutes later she came back on the line and said I missed a payment in September. I said, "Okay, fair enough...but have I kept my loan out of default for the past 5 years? Have you received a payment every month with the exception of September?...which I don't even believed I missed? How late is my payment? 24 days? Does that REALLY warrant a phone call almost every hour? Don't you have bigger fish to fry?"

So, you know what I do? I keep hitting redial and do the exact thing back to them. Someone answers, and I just sit there. They hang up, I call back and do the exact same thing again. Over and over and over again.

SallieMae is desperate because they're realizing very few people can afford to payback the ridiculous cost of their education due to the economy. Something is going to give. We'll either be able to discharge student loans in a bankruptcy (I'll be first in line), or they'll forgive some, if not all student debt - just like the mortgage sector. Hang in there, s*** is about to hit the fan.

This is the collections department from Sallie Mae.  I had looked at this site and all comments posted here prior to calling them back.  Our problem was that my son, while making larger payments than his 3 loans required.. Sallie Mae erroneously allocated the payment to only two loans, so his third loan, although in our mind was current, was showing as past due.

I explained some of the comments that were made on here, and she was kind enough to explain... which is why I thought I would share:

1) For those of you receiving calls who NEVER had a Sallie Mae Acct - they said this happens sometimes because people change their number to avoid calls... and then when the phone company reissues the number, to you possibly, they still call the same number, and are getting you instead of the proper person.  Also, this applies to folks that maybe moved into a house or apartment where someone that owed a debt to them lived.  After a period of time trying to collect the same debt, they grasp at straws so to speak, and try the address, and even though your phone number was never associated with the person owing the debt, it's just that you live there. I can vouch for this, because even though we've been in our house for 14 years, the family before us had lots of debt... we still sometimes receive a phone call or mail for the previous owners regarding debt collection... It's very frustrating for sure.

2) For those of you receiving multiple calls, as a collections department, they are unfortunately allowed to call phone numbers up to 8 times a day without it being considered harassment.  Bull crap I know, but at least it explains it a bit.

The young lady I spoke with was very nice... she said you only have to call, and once they verify you are not who they are looking for, they can remove your information.  The hardest part to remember is, she and others like her are only doing their jobs... I know it's frustrating for us as consumers and the people being bothered by these calls, but imagine how frustrating it is for her/them.

Hope this helps some of you...

Life is short... smile a little... we're all in this boat together... :)

Two weeks in a row I have gotten calls from them on Friday nights at 8:30pm.  I also received one on Saturday morning at 8:56am and another one minute later at 8:57am.  Payments are current and this is not even my loan, it is my daughter's loan. It is a marketing call and they are saying they want her to consolidate her loans or something.  She is old enough to handle this on her own.  Total b.s.  I hate you Sallie Mae!

If this is a delinquent student loan call, man-oh-man!  are they off the mark.  I paid off my last student loan 45 years ago, and I don't owe them or anyone else a penny.  What a bunch of AHs.  I do not answer my cell phone unless it is someone I know.  They are all programmed into it, so one glance at the window shows me whether the call should be picked up. My phone does not take messages either, so they are totally wasting their time trying to scam my Social Security out of me.  W**kers.

first, it is a so called student loan company, but not government, a private company, I found this out when last year when they were lowering the interest rate for student loans, I applied and was told that this company is not government. so I was stuck with the current rate. also, I had a loan amount of $ 10,000 and I paid over $ 14,000. I wrote to the company to  ask if they could do an audit in case I was wrong about paying more than what the loan was for. the answer I got back from customer service was , so what. just keep paying. they would show on a statement that they would send me , once in year that I only paid $ 2,000 in the last 10 years. so when I got this answer from customer service, I wrote back and told them I was not paying no more, take me to court, I will provide the court with the checks I sent and they cashed.. so now they call me 4 - 5 times a day. like the rest of you , I just block their calls. they can take me to court. I paid the bill, in fact, they got $5000 extra for interest.

As a cosigner, I am sick and tired of Sallie May calls. Their automated system keeps calling me,  asking me to call back to discuss options ( whatever they are). Today they called on 317-348-9984 and to verify that I am actually I am, started pulling information such as: last four digits of my SSN, my date of birth, may address. When I said "Why do I have to give you all this information on the phone" she said "that's fine , we do not have to continue with this conversation, and she hung up.  Unbelievably irritating, arrogant behavior.

Am I the only one here who took the time to actually research all of this?  Called the REAL Sallie Mae, who said they have NO RECORD OF ANY OF THESE NUMBERS or any of their collection agencies.  Also, they do not call on the weekends, only leave automated messages, and also they would NEVER RIGHT AWAY ASK FOR YOUR SS NUMBER.  He told me that if they call you and you eventually get connected to a live person, all you need to do is verify the last 4 of you SS number and that is good for them.  Notice none of them either follow the proper Sallie Mae answering script.  I called back this number, got a live guy and gave him a piece of my mind.  Needless to say it was back and forth him saying they're Sallie Mae and me saying I just called the real Sallie Mae and none of it adds up.  May have gotten a little heated too, but come on people.  I've gotten calls from the REAL Sallie Mae when they needed payments (not delinquent, just was a month late due to a misunderstanding between me and the company).  I think if we all opened our eyes and contacted the police maybe they would actually get shut down and all this harassment would end!

I hate Sallie Mae worse than any company in the United States. I have asked Sallie Mae several times not to call my elderly father who has suffered from major heart related issues, but in spite of their continued assurances that they will stop, the calls continue several times a day even when I am current on my student loans. It is amazing that our overtly corrupted political officials have been permitted to draft laws that specifically provide Sallie Mae and other student lending organizations with specialized legal protections, such as exemption from prevailing bankruptcy laws,  while at the same time providing them with federal insurance to insure their loans from any prospective loss and have allowed them to overtly prey on working class Americans who secured educational loans in the hopes of improving their respective lots in life. Apparently the $37,490,000.00 that SLM Corp. provided to John Boehner, Mitt Romney and other politicans between 1998 and 2012 has had its intended effect.

This is the second time Sallie Mae has called me about a "late" loan.  I have faithfully paid my loans almost since my loan payments have started with them.  The first time they called, it was actually Sallie Mae's fault.  Sallie Mae claimed part of my loan was past due.  The person that received my payments didn't split the payments up to the right loans, and the person who rectified that blamed me for not telling the first person that the loan payment was split.  The second time they called, it was from this robocall number, although I was told that the split loan mistake was fixed.  And they called at around 7 PM EST, way past their phone hours on a Saturday.  Also, they contacted me on my home phone number, not my cell, which is the way I prefer to talk to Sallie Mae.

If they do call my home again with this number, I'll be sure to hound them down until they stop calling.

It's Sallie Mae, robocalling at 8:00 AM on Thanksgiving morning. They call me 6-10 times per day, and I've complained on the FDCPA site but I don't think Sallie Mae has to play by the same rules everyone else does. They get away with absolutely anything. The heck of it is I have a forbearance on my student loans and have sent in an application for forbearance THREE TIMES on the private student loan, and it's their fault they've lost the form each time. They also "lost" a $50 credit toward the loan, too. I shouldn't be considered past due at all, let alone called constantly.
