It came up as a Wireless Caller on my ID

The problem with Sallie Mae is their automatic dialer. They claim the settings are not adjustable.  The Fair Debt Collection Act protects you from being harassed excessively even if you owe a debt. If you have time read about it online.

You must ask Sallie Mae in writing and/or via phone rep to remove you from the automatic dialer list.  It takes about a month to go into effect. When I called, the rep told me that she never heard of the FDCA laws that prevent them from making excessive harassment calls.  I asked her to make notes on my account about my request anyway, and I sent it in writing.  A month later, no more excessive calls.  Hope this helps!

I have received several calls from this number in the last few days.  Never leaves any message.

The call from that number is from Sallie Mae Dept of Education loan service. It would be about a student loan.

It's Sallie Mae.... If you have a student loan, pay it.

I get this call every day. No message left. If you call them, the number is a non-working number, so they are routing through someone elses switch to aviod detection.

This is from the sally mae foundation. They've been calling my number 10-20 times a day and I've never even had a student loan!

I received two calls from this number last night while I was asleep, and there was no message left.

this # has called my phone quite a few times in the space of an hour or so almost on a daily basis but leaves no message.

Got a call on my cell phone from this number asking for 'Betty'.  Not me and I have no business with them.  Have also received calls from another number asking for 'Betty':  866-932-6805

they call me at least once a day, i never answer and they never leave a message. Oh how i wish i could block numbers on my cell. So if this site actually does anthing (which i doubt) my story is the same qas everyone elses.

You can call them and tell them to take your number off of the list, if the say they can't then ask for a supervisor and tell them to take the number off of the auto dialer. It worked for me.

I keep getting phone calls from this number and am getting so annoyed.  I think I will obtain an attorney to straighten out the problem, The person they are calling for does had my number before i did.

It is Sallie Mae....but they had the wrong number.

It is a debt collector for Sallie Mae. They are most likely calling for the person wha had your telephone number before you. I received several of these calls when I took over my new number. Call back 800-722-1300. That is the correct number for Sallie Mae. They will remove your number from the database.

I've gotten a few calls from this number on my cell, usually late at night so I don't answer. I had a student loan, but it was paid off 15 years ago. No messages are left. They are now on my cell phones "block" list.

I get calls from this number too. I do have a Sallie Mae account-- maybe this outside company hacked SM accounts to scam everyone.....never leave a message- you would think that if it were indeed Sallie Mae they would leave a message!

calling and not answering after you say hello is HARASSMENT, Calling 5 times in an HOUR and not answering after you say hello, IS ALSO HARASSMENT,  calling a CELL PHONE after you verbally tell them to stop calling your cell phone, is a violation of the fair credit laws, I know because i have SUED and WON. Allied is the name of the company claiming to be Sallie Mae, AGAIN it is not Sallie Mae it is an outside company based in India...

Umm. If they called you, asking you to confirm the number they just called doesn't sound like a scam. It sounds like what all debt collectors and telemarketers need to do to take your number out of the system; they need you to confirm it. Now they might keep calling.

Received a call from this number asking for someone who I don't know. Told him he had the wrong number and he wanted to know my number so they could take it out of their automated system. I told him he called me and should have my number so I wasn't giving it to him. He stated I would continue to get calls unless I gave him my number, again I told him no. He said he was with the Department of Education. Sounds like some type of scam to me!

Someone claiming to be from Sallie Mae, and asking to call back at 1800-722-1300.

I have been called by this number twice. I don't have a student loan, so therefore there is no way I could be behind on my payments. The second time they called, they left a message. It was a woman speaking EXTREMELY fast, and breathing into the phone so I could hardly make out what she was saying. She said something like "Courtney" and "call-"(I couldn't understand this part)"-concerning your student loan."

I keep getting this call too. And it is driving me insane, they call very early & very late. Can this be reported? If so, to whom?

I keep receiving phone calls from this number but there is never anyone on the other end.  I can hear background noise, but never a caller and never a voicemail.  I do have a SallieMae student loan, but this isn't SallieMae.  I think it is probably a scam trying to get you to provide the type of personal information which SallieMae might legitimately request.  The fact that someone answers SallieMae when you call back doesn't necessarily mean that it is SallieMae--anyone running a scam would do the same thing.

Received call from same number when I answered it they hung up. I called back and someone from Sallie Mae picked up.
