Got a call on my cell from this number to warn me of crime in my area. I just hung up

Wrong. The company is Alliance Security but Monitronics is employing this company to do sales. I have an installer coming tomorrow so I can waste their time like they waste my time.
Call and email Monitronics until they stop selling through this company.

How can I stop these unwanted calls?
Dee Ramsey 2012-06-21 17:33:08 Unknown
Reporting them to the FCC or DoNotCall list does no good! They just change (spoof) the number and keep calling. B*****DS!! Best thing to do is to never answer them call. Once you answer, they can claim the number is active and they then sell your number to other b*****ds!! NEVER PUSH THE BUTTONS!! WHEN YOU PUSH 1 or 2, it's just letting them know there is a real person answering the phone, not just VM!!

Monitronics is actually a monitoring company for many independent alarm installers; they do not sell or install alarm systems. You'd probably need to gather more information from the telemarketer about the company the telemarketer is actually working with and calling from. The telemarketers appear to say they are calling from Monitronics to avoid penalizing their own company.
Bob 2012-06-14 13:39:21 Unknown
This is not Monitronics but someone misrepresenting themselves as Monitronics; apparently to paint Monitronics in a negative light and it seems to be working.
B. Smith 2012-06-14 13:07:34 Unknown
This 317-536-5989 is not Monitronics Security. Monitronics is located in Dallas Texas and not Indianpolis, IN. Before posting someones personal information you should probably employ more due diligence. This behavior is no better than the SCAMMER who is using this number to falsely represent themselves.
Nikki 2012-06-14 12:59:20 Telemarketer
This is not Monitronics, this is a company claiming to be Monitronics. There are not in Indiana they are in Dallas Texas and are a public company. I dont know who this company is but I hope Monitronics is going to sue them for fraud!!!
sick of at&t 2012-06-14 01:48:16 Unknown
why have a land line and pay for all those services if they cant, wont or dont do anything about these calls? I'm thinking of just keeping my cell phone and getting rid of the land line, these calls are bs. at&t does nothing. dnc does nothing. so tired of all these calls, at least my cell phone will block them but funny thing, i dont get these calls on my cell. wish we could get these guys HOME PHONE numbers and then call them at home at night!!

Go to a marine boating center and purchase a small air horn used by boaters in distress, When these telemarketers/scum call, get on line with one and engage him/her in a conversation. Hold the horn close to the mouth piece of the phone and let it sound off. Its pretty unlikely they will ever call again.
I have used this and kept a record of the 317-536-5989 and that number has yet to call again. l have also done this with other telemarketers/scum but this only works if there is a live voice on the calling end
All of us need to fight back somehow since the do not call list is usless. Good luck.

Just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Monitronics to let them know what is going on and alerted them to the comments on this site. I also requested that Mike Haislip call me directly. See what happens.

I have been receiving these calls for several weeks. So far, caller ID always lists "Security" with telephone number (317) 536-5989. If you don't have caller ID or it lists another number and you are fooled into answering the call, DO NOT press any button. Hang up immediately. I agree with Lynayn that they are not into selling alarm systems. They are in the business of making lists of active phone numbers which they will sell to other spammers. If you answer and respond in any way, it will tag you as an active telephone number and the chances are that you will start getting other spam calls. It is sad that with all the money our government throws away, that they will do nothing to help in this type of situation. Calling the "Do Not Call" list seems to be a waste of time.

Don't you love it when a criminal calls to sell a security system.
Mike S 2012-06-13 20:05:27 Telemarketer
The name of this company is Monitronics. I told the cold caller I was interested in getting a security system and I wanted to do some due diligence before I committed. She gave up the name.
They are out of Dallas. Call the President (Mike Haislip) and tell him your going to call his office everytime his company calls your number. (972-243-7443) They will try to tell you that the company calling you isn't them. It isn't but they are employing them to get sales leads.

The next time these Monitronics criminals call I think I'll give them the name and home address of their VP of sales:

I keep getting calls as well and CANNOT get off their list.
Since they will not stop and act responsible I'm suggesting that we see about launching either an occupation of their offices until such practices are stopped or stop by each persons home and let them know in no uncertain terms of our displeasure with their or their subcontractor's- lack of following legal mandated phone solicitation practices. Follow these clowns in any phone listings and call Them at work or at home.
Mike Haislip - President & CEO
Michael Meyers - Chief Financial Officer
Kelly Habbas - Chief Information Officer
Rick Hudson - Vice President, Security Services
Bruce Mungiguerra - Vice President, Sales and Dealer Development
John Mejia - Vice President, Customer Care
Lori Bishop - Vice President, Human Resources
Its time these folks are rewarded for all the annoyance and lack of care they've shown folks who've honestly tried to be nice and were trampled upon by the rude telemarketing departments these guys oversee. Its all over now! This is time to make a declaration of independence from these scabs

I guess my wishes haven't worked just yet.
When asked, "Where are you out of?", the woman said, "Oregon", but then said when pressed, "I can't give you that". All I had asked for was the city they're out of.
Linda D. Allen 2012-06-12 18:29:32 Telemarketer
They keep calling me from multiple numbers even though I am on the do not call list. It is most annoying as soon as I ask who referred me they hang up. I have asked them not to call and offer me a free alarm system since I own an alarm company!!
Rachel 2012-06-12 15:44:21 Prank Call
I doubt the callers are a legit company, even if the phone number traces back to a real firm The phone number is spoofed, and all they want is your credit card and ID info.

Call the Indiana state cops! 2012-06-12 00:15:05 Telemarketer
I take care of my Vietnam veteran father during the day. He's had some severe medical issues of late and is no longer willing or able to really handle phone calls as such.My mother and he are registered with the no call list (which I've come to believe is sort of pointless). We get other calls, and for the most part we tolerate them.
The thing of it is, with this particular robo call is that after just lying and lying( my parent's neighborhood is not experiencing any sort of crime wave. None of our friends or neighbors have recommended us for this service. Clearly it is a sales call and the security system is neither free nor monitored by my local police, fire, or emergency.) they give you an out. Simply dial 2 and you'll be removed from their call list. Needless to say about two hours after dialing 2 we received the exact same call and have been getting it at least twice a day since.
I then started receiving them at my home as well. At this point I decided to dial 1 to speak to an operator. A man named "Mike" answered the phone. I began to tell him about my parent's predicament. I can honestly and truly say that as angry as I may have been I spoke with "Mike" in a friendly and jovial manner. When I got to the part about dialing 2 he hung up on me. He didn't say "I'm sorry about that sir let's get it straightened out for you" no he hung up as I'm certain he's been instructed to do.
These people are criminals very purposefully breaking the law. From what I've read reporting to the fcc is as useless as being on the no call list in the first place. So I've decided to call the Indiana State Police. I encourage everyone who has a problem with this number to do the same. They are blatantly breaking both state and federal laws and are by definition subject to arrest and prosecution. The number for the state cops is 317-232-8248 tell them when they get there to ask for "Mike".

GeorgiaGirl 2012-06-11 21:57:00 Telemarketer
Thanks for the website: I filled out a feedback form without ID, pointing out how stupid that they think people should tell strangers that "oh, yes, I would like to have a home security system sinceI don't have one... and here is my address in case you'd like to send your friendly neighborhood burglar my way!"
Mike 2012-06-11 19:35:35 Telemarketer
When i have nothing better to do i go through the whole spiel with them and complain about the bad neighborhood i am in then give my address as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue! They either get it right away and hang up or ask for more info. The funny thing is that i have done this like 3-4 times with this security company.
DieSpammerDie.org 2012-06-11 19:29:00 Unknown

Edwin 2012-06-11 19:15:13 Telemarketer
Typical robocall scammer, touting a home security system. Pressed "one" and was connected to an operator named "Anna". She refused to give me her last name (surprise), but claimed that the security company was Monitronics. Their website is http://www.monitronics.com/.
Needless to say, I filed a complaint at donotcall.gov.
