They call like clock work and WILL NOT remove your phone/info from their database! They harass me everyday and I am on the do not call list.

unwanted solicitation from Indianapolis Star

This is the Indianapolis Star. They have harrassed me since I cancelled my subscription in December. I have asked them to stop calling me by phone twice and by email twice. They continue to call on a regular basis.

Callin me at all end of da night,,,,aint nobody got time for dat!
suzanne 2012-10-22 14:25:28 Unknown
I had asked months ago to be removed from their call list, and it worked for a while, but now I'm getting them again, every day. Called them back finally asked to be removed from the list, and the lady did it. We'll see how long it lasts. Calling every single day and never leaving a message is certainly not the way to endear potential customers to your product, which I told them the first time I had them remove me. A sinking industry like print journalism should be a little more aware of that than they seem to be.

This is why I use google voice, and only ever give it out to businesses. Google Voice allows you to block phone numbers, so I won't be hearing from the Indy Star again!

They call... and call... and call. Several times a day they call. They call early in the morning, and they call at night. They called me last night at 9:00 EST time. They have called me 200+ times in the past months. I do not want to buy their newspaper. I don't even live in Indy anymore! We're stationed in LA so it's not like I can have one delivered anyway! It drives me nuts.

Try the Star's Do Not Call List policy:
https://secure.indystar.com/circulation/donotcalllist.html
I made the contact they required in their policy and reported their incessant harassment to the Indiana Attorney General as well. If that does not work I will sue them in Small Claims Court; I refuse to take their harassment lying down.

Thank you for the info on the Star's Do Not Call List. I tried that too and I reported the harassment calls to the Attorney General as well. Maybe something will help; I know I am tired of getting their incessant harassment!

They will not stop! Reporting them to the Attorney General of Indiana to see if that helps. They have been calling 3 to 6 times a day for over 6 weeks. If that is not illegal and harassment it sure should be!

I saw nothing on the National Do Not Call Registry that exempts newspapers. I don't live in Indiana. If they are exempt in Indiana, they shouldn't call across state lines. (I did see something specified about interstate soliciting but it was not an exemption.)

INDYSTAR CALLS 2 - 3 TIMES A DAY. WE DON'T ANSWER. VERY AGGRIVATING. THE INDYSTAR IS HURTING AND IS DOING EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO SURVIVE. THEY HAVE UNDERHANDED TACTICS TO SURVIVE. IF YOU SEE A KIOSK OR SOME SORT OF STAND AT A STORE LIKE WAL-MART WHERE THEY ARE SIGNING UP NEW SUBSCRIBERS..........RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. WE SIGNED UP FOR THE INDY STAR FOR A "FREE" 4 WEEK PAPER. WE GAVE THEM A CHECK FOR $18.00+ DOLLARS (IN TURN WE GOT A $15.00 GIFT CARD FROM WALMART AND THE PAPER COST $3.00 FOR 4 WEEKS) AND IT NEVER CLEARED THE BANK........INSTEAD THEY USED IT TO GET THE ROUTING # OFF THE CHECK AND CHARGE US OVER $20.00 TO DEDUCT IT MONTHLY FROM OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT. I CALLED AND COM[PLAINED AND IT DID NO GOOD.........NEVER GOT A REFUND OR ANYTHING. IT STATES IN THE SMALL PRINT ON THE RECEIPT THAT YOU ARE SUBSCRIBING FOR THE INDY STAR. WE DID NOT READ IT AND THE PEOPLE AT THE KIOSK NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT IT EITHER. THE STAR IS LOW LIFE AND UNDERHANDED AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED AND I TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THEIR TACTICS. Here's hoping that the name INDY STAR is written on every restroom wall across this land!!

Beth 2011-06-06 20:45:59 Unknown
Told them 3 times now that they have the wrong number, they are asking for a different name. They are still calling 3 to 4 times a day.
Sherri 2011-06-06 20:45:59 Unknown
According to other sites that I have seen, this is the Indianapolis Star calling. They will call several times a day, ignore your request to be removed from the list, and then continue to call you after that.
fox 2011-06-06 20:45:59 Unknown
call Bryan Sturgeon Vice President of Circulation 444-4152 to stop the calls, tell him you will hold him responsable if you receive one more.
JoAnn B 2011-06-06 20:45:59 Unknown
I have not taken the Indy Star for at least 10 years and these idiots call me sometimes 3-4 times a day. They call 2-3 times every Sunday and every day of the week. I am so sick of this I have told them over and over "I DO NOT WAnT A PAPER". When I paid for it I either didn't get it or it was strewn all over my yard and the neighbors and almost never on a Sunday and they had to send a supervisor out with it 2-3pm.
Is there any way we can get rid of these idiots?????????????????//
Sarah 2011-06-06 20:45:59 Unknown
What area code is that?
mara 2011-06-06 20:45:59 Unknown
these people are rat bastards.
I applied for their stupid paper back in the day when I was unemployeed. when I was done with that I stopped my subscription to the paper once it ran out. they would call every few days---including 830 in the morning on a saturday. Well---lookie lookie I just got another call from them because my paper subscription is coming to a close (im looking for a new job) and this time I was smart enough to give them my work phone number so they cant wake my sleepy a** up. they are relentless and even when i told them "Yuo know waking me up early on a saturday isnt a good way to get me to resubscibe to your stupid paper.". they kept calling till i snapped on them completely. at any rate---Indy star sucks!

Despite letting the answering machine catch ALL phone call; despite never having a business relationship; this newspaper has locked this home telephone line open at least three times. It is now sending printed soliciations to my dad. He is an honorably discharged United States of Amercia World War II Veteran of Foreign Wars Army Corporal in the Military Police. He served with the famous 36th Division T-Patchers in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. At 86, he is hard of hearing, hard of reading and his body mass is wasting away. As his Attorney in Fact, and his only child, I will write a letter to Bryan Sturgen, Vice President of Circulation.
