I keep receiving texts from this number regarding pay day loans. I want them to stop as its a nuisance and I have to keep paying for the texts.

Verizon allows you to block texts from unwanted numbers.  If you don't have Verizon, check with your provider as they will likely do the same.

i received this message by text on my Verizon cell phone at 11:30 am on a Wed 10-14-2010 from 317-717-7759: "Do you need extra cash today? You qualify for a payday loan up to $900, Receive loan within 1 hour. Reply "PayDay" for more information. Fast, easy, convenient"

I have no history of payday loans either. I did not give them my number and do not want them or any other companies contacting me by cell phone. Its a pain we have to do this but this is how to get them to stop -

First, go to the Federal Communications Commission website at http://www.fcc.gov/  and download and print the complaint form. If you have more than 1 agency calling you print as many as you need.

Next, type a letter to the agency asking them to stop attempting to contact you electronically and to remove your phone number from their database. I do not use my real name as I don't want any collection agency to be able to verify anything about me. Make 2 copies of the letter, one for the collection agency and a copy for the FCC. Next, fill out the FCC complaint form as you see fit.

Then write to the FCC a letter explaining all of your actions including withholding your identity if that is what you did. The letter you send to the collection agency must be sent certified mail; apply the certified mail number to the letter written to the FCC. In the letter to the collection agency you will have an option for "cc" which means "Courtesy Copy", place the Federal Communications Commission name after that, make sure you use the full name and not just FCC so they will tend to take you more serious.

Once you have completed sending the letter to the collection agency send the letter you wrote, the complaint form, and a copy of the letter to the agency to the FCC. You then have a record of your actions on file with a federal agency. If the FCC gets enough complaints about a certain agency they will fine them, pull their license, and shut them down.

Make sure you keep record of everything that you do and they do, write down times, dates, and corresponding events. Even if you don't have caller ID, a record of outgoing calls is kept by the phone service provider and the agency and is accessible by the FCC.

Please let me know any questions you have and how well my advice works. Your feedback will be encouragement to others and will give them hope that they don't have to be abused.

Got same text message call on 10/10/10.
"Do you need extra cash today? You qualify for a payday loan up to $900. Receive loan within 1 hour. Reply "Payday" for more information. Fast, easy, convenient."
This text also went to my wife's cell phone at the same time. We have consecutive cell phone numbers, so this company was possibly using an auto number generator calling/texting in numerical order.
On Verizon network. We DO NOT give out both phone numbers to any of the same places, except for hospitals. We have never done any business with any company that does payday loans, nor ever requested any information from those kinds of companies.

Verizon allows you to block texts from unwanted numbers.  Go to their website and look under safeguards... you'll find it.  I will never hear from that number again!

Received the same "PayDay loans" message as others as a text message.
Googled "unsolicited text message" and reported the number to the FCC using their complaint form.
