I just received this exact text message not even 5 minutes ago. I don't even have a card with the FCU. This is a total scam, so beware.

I've been getting the same texts as those quoted above from a couple of numbers: 317-947-4800 (which I discovered has previously been listed for a nasty "adult" operation) and 317-947-0201.

My teen and I have both received this message - myself this afternoon and my teen on Wed. Since we don't use our cell #'s on any account info, I felt certain it was a scam.

The numbers to call have been 317-947-0204 and 317-947-0333.

This afternoon, 1/24, I received a TEXT message on my CELL PHONE saying that my card had been DE-ACTIVATED...a very VAGUE message that reeked of PHISHING! The number that was left for me to call was 317-973-4088..so, it seems they have changed their number, but still the same scan, possibly.

Here's what the text said: "Finance Center FCU Alert:  Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED.  Please contact us at 317-973-4088 to REACTIVATE YOUR CARD."

Here is some additional information that came with the text message:

I also recieved this exact text message (to the letter) not 5 minutes ago, and decided to do some research. Whoever sent the text is apparently blocking their number from being shown on the text...

Anyway, total scam. DON'T fall for this crap.

I received the exact message as a text on a company cell phone.  That cell phone number was NEVER given to FCFCU.  So, these texts are coming in via cell also.

From the Financial Center FCU website:

Beware of Phishing Attacks - 1/14/2009

Recently, many Financial Center members and non-members have been contacted via phone, email and text messages in a phishing attempt. These phishing attempts have directed the recipient to a website that appears to be legitimate in an attempt to gather personal financial information.  The sites usually ask for account numbers, names, SSN, credit card numbers or a combination of the previous pieces of information in attempt to commit fraud. Financial Center will never ask for your account information via phone, e-mail or text message.

Financial Center is diligently investigating these phishing and vishing attacks. Financial Center's website has not been taken over nor has there been a breach in the credit union's security. In addition, there is no threat of fraud or identity theft unless the e-mail or phone recipient enters information into the electronic form.

NOTE:

These emails and calls did not originate from Financial Center; please do not respond.
Your account information has not been comprimised.
Financial Center will never contact you via phone or email to ask for your personal financial information.
Any phishing emails should be forwarded (from the original recipient) directly to phishing@fcfcu.com. If you fear that you may have given out your personal information to an illegitimate source, please contact Financial Center at 317.916.7700.
If you have any further questions, please contact Member Services at 317.916.7700 or 1.800.473.2328.
