Calls from this number to my cell phone

CBE Group...Calls from a variety of area codes, one area code at a time for several weeks and then changes area code and phone number. *Occasionally* will call from two different area codes in one days time. I don't answer them 'cause I don't know who they're from until I "google" the number.

This number calls me at least 4 times per day. I do not know them or have business with them.
| Cat & Mouse 2012-03-24 06:36:34 Unknown |
I agree with You. I think phones companies must make a list of the DROP OFF PHONES NUMBERS and announcing it for at least 1 month any time that # rings before giving the # to somebody else. Is absurd and annoyed to recive 10-15 calls on your cell and none of theme is for you.

Its the CBE Group - Bill collector
| Muzhik 2012-02-24 20:33:37 Unknown |
14, you're getting those calls because a) someone used your phone number on some credit application, lease, or other financial document, or b) the last person who had your phone number skipped out on some bills. CBE has a history of harassing people to pay on bills that have already been paid off.
You are lucky, because you're young enough that your parents can send the police after them. Which is what they should do if you get any more calls from this company. Another thing to do is have your parents contact your state's Attorney General's office. Harassing calls made to an adult are one thing. Harassing calls made to a minor are a completely different thing and you can bet there will be some action from the AG. (After all, he or she won't want to be painted as "someone who failed to protect our youth from a predator.")

Yesterday I got 3 calls from numbers I did not recognize. This one, the 319-242-7345, 877-335-8967, and 515-954-7670. I have found out now that the first and the last numbers that have called are both CBE numbers. I can't seem to find anything on the 877 number though. Ever since I got this phone number I have been getting calls like this. I used to answer them and they would always ask for the same person. I continued to tell them that this number was no longer connected to who they were looking for. Yet I get calls like this almost daily. It's very very annoying, but thanks to the information given by Fed Up Consumer, I will be sure to start answering again and to get these people to stop calling me!

Centennial Law in Ventura was so desperate to drive traffic to one of its several sloppy web sites that it ran a mass spam campaign for much of 2010 on several forums like this one.
This is another in that class of mercenary law firms which preys upon the fears of alleged debtors about as badly as the collectors. They do nothing which consumers cannot do for themselves at a much lower cost and far more wisely. My report from July 2011 is linked below.

I've been getting 10+ calls a day from this number for over 2 weeks now. They never leave a voicemail. Once I picked up and the lady on the other end apparently couldn't hear me because she just kept saying "hello??" I've told them to stop calling me but they won't stop!!

Caller ID says CBE Group. I have no idea why they are calling me. I have not received anything in the mail from them. They call my home phone and five minutes later they call my cell phone. I am going to block them both. They don't say anything when I answer the phone.

Often, the phone rings and there is no one on the line. What's going on?
Most telemarketing call centers use computerized automatic dialers, otherwise known as "predictive dialers" or "lead generators." These devices can dial hundreds, if not thousands, of calls per hour from a single center. If the computer detects a live person on the telephone, it summons the next available operator to break into the call. The delay you hear, when it sounds as if no one is there, is the time it takes for the operator to get on the line after you or your answering device has picked up the phone. Also, some companies do nothing but troll sequential lists of telephone numbers, just to document whether a "live" voice answers, then documents any successful connections along with the time, to sell to telemarketing firms or to follow up with sales calls.
Who is exempt from Do Not Call List regulation?
Any company with which you have an established business relationship to include:
Credit card companies;
Financial Institutions:
Insurance companies;
Mortgage companies;
Retail & Department stores;
Telephone companies;
Newspaper publishers;
Magazine publishers;
Oil companies;
Bill collectors;etc.
Any company with which you have made an inquiry within 90 days.
Any company with which you have made an application within 90 days.
Any "Not-for-Profit" organization to include:
City, State & Federal offices;
Police & Fire Departments;
Charitable organizations;
Schools and school groups;
Club members;
etc.
Any political organization to include:
Anyone running for a political office;
Anyone representing a political candidate;
Anyone campaigning for a public or political cause;
etc.
Insurance companies to include;
Life insurance;
Health insurance;
Home insurance;
Car insurance;
Anyone conducting a survey.
Anyone making an appointment, (the latest telemarketing ploy).
What should I do when a telemarketer has me cornered?
Without a call screening device:
You will need to conform to the letter of the law concerning your dialog with the unwanted telemarketing call, to put them on legal notice that you do not wish to receive any further calls.
Here are some suggested questions to give you the ammunition you need to take action against them should they continue to pester you:
First qualify it as a telemarketing call: "Are you selling something?"
Get the operators name: "What is your full name?"
Get the company's phone number: "What is your phone number with area code?"
Get the company name: "What is the name of your company?"
Make sure they maintain a "Do Not Call List": "Do you keep a record of those who request that you do not call?" (If not, they are in violation of federal law)
If they do, ask to be placed on it: "Could you please put my number on your "Do Not Call" list?"

I am on the DNC Registry as well.. so, it's puzzling. I don't answer the calls while at work and don't answer them anyway because I don't know someone from that area code. Someone earlier suggested reporting to FCC due to being on DNC Registry.. might be a good idea.

No clue who this is and they've been calling every couple of hours never leaving a message. All I can gather is that it's an Iowa area code.

I have been getting calls from them on both my home phone and cell phone with no messages left at either. If I answer, they hang up without saying anything.
