Those calls are an intrusion, a nuisance, and you don't know who is poorer than who or who they are calling so go stuff yourself, moron.  There are far too many other more worthy causes than give to these idiots who call people indiscriminately, don't answer the phone most of the time when you do pick up, or just spout some mindless diatribe heedless of the callers' responses. Its meshuga, capisce?

This number is part of the University of Iowa foundation, the University's recommended method of donating to the University of Iowa. If you got a call from that number, it means that 1 of 23 awesome laid-back students was trying to contact you to ask you about your day and let you know that the University could use your help. Non-profits are exempt from the no-call list. Also these students are poorer than you, so no excuses on refusing to make a $35 pledge.

I've been getting a lot of calls from this number but they never leave a message.  Sometimes they hang up before reaching voicemail.  My husband went to the University of Iowa, so I'm guessing that is who is calling...but I went to college in a totally different state.  They must have done some kind of search for contact info on him and came across my number.  Maybe I should try talking to them to tell them I don't even give money to my own alma mater, so I'm not going to donate to a college that I've never set foot on, but from the other comments here, I'm guessing it wouldn't do much good.

I am a alum from '75 and they still keep calling despite multiple moves.  As said above they call daily around dinner/evening from various numbers including this one.  Since I have given in the past, they likely will never give up.

I just got a missed call from this number and decided to check here. I went to Iowa too and can't believe they found my cell phone number! I have had no contact with the university since '96 and yet they have tracked me down. They even found my P.O. box mailing address that I only use for very limited bills and banking stuff. Even if I had money to donate, with these tactics I definitely wouldn't give them one cent.

Whenever I receive calls from this number it's always the U of Iowa asking for money.  They pretend like they care about you but it's really just a ploy to get your money.  I repeatedly say I'm not donating and they just keep talking - I literally have to hang up on them mid sentence to end the call.  It's quite ridiculous they ask recent grads to donate money when I'm sure most are like me and graduate with $25k+ in student loan debt.

Get calls couple times a week never leaves a message was able to pickup the other day however nobody said anything. Either leave a message or stop calling.

they call once a day for over a month now.  give up people and remove me from your list.  I will not donate to someone who calls every day, even as late as 9 p.m.!!!  cold calling will not get me to donate to anything.

UI fundraising. The caller was very polite but it's funny they asked for money while I'm in residency working for <$11/hr trying to repay the 200k loan I incurred there.

To the folks who are getting called by the UIF foundation, they are sneaky and will not remove your phone number from their call list even if you ask them to! You have to ask them explicitly to remove them from their call list and to never contact you, otherwise they will list you as "uninterested in donating THIS cycle" and wait to call you again next year. Just in case you've changed your mind.
My parents are UI alumni and I worked at the Foundation making these calls for all of a week before I had to quit -- so sick are their tactics and their interpretations of the word "No." My parents have been called by the UIF daily in the last few weeks, usually right around dinner, all because my dad insinuated he MAY be donating... at some point in the future.  It takes money to run a school, and alumni donations drive a good chunk of the programs the UI offers, but surely there's a less annoying way of getting them?

Yes, it is the University of Iowa Foundation. I don't know how they obtain my phone number. They kept calling me, even after I told them I will not be donating any money at this time! Very annoying. I hope they stop calling.

This is the University of Iowa Foundation, and it would appear they are doing some sort of fund-raising campaign.  I tried calling back, but I am on the west coast so it is too late when I call to connect with anybody.  I can only speculate about what they are trying to raise money for, but I know they still have a lot of rebuilding projects for places damaged in the floods in the last few years. Just a guess. The calls are annoying, to be sure.

Caller ID says U of Iowa Foundation. They're calling alumni begging for money.

I picked up and there was no one there.  This happens frequently.  I am on the no-call list, but it does not stop these calls.

Usually calls around 6, also, except for today i received a call around noon... very annoying & would really like to know who it is...

Had received many missed calls from this number, usually around 6pm.  Never any message left.  Finally got around to answering it tonight - turned out to be fundraising ... U of I contacting it's alumni's and asking for donations.  They caught me in a good mood so I gave ten bucks :)

This is a UIowa number (I'm a student) that calls me at least once a day and hangs up whenever I answer. If you google it a plethora of organizations come up with that number, so it must be a phone portal of some kind.
