I also received a phone call from (800) 811-4634 and 10 minutes later received another one from (319) 730-2568. Judging from everyones responses it isn't a coincidence.

Caller ID said "UNIV ADMISSIONS". When I answered, they hung up. Daughter is a junior who has taken the PSAT and SAT and has signed up for various college websites.

my daughter has been applying to colleges and getting admitted.   this has to be some total scam having to do with college apps.  she hasn't applied to Winthrop or anywhere in Iowa.  Number has nothing to do with FAFSA or college aid.  Totally bogus.

Interesting. I am not applying to colleges but recently gave my number to Pearson (exam company) to register for a state license exam I need to take. Did that last night and am getting these calls...

Someone calls from this number 2 to 3 times a day and really has no idea what their even calling about. Apparently being on the national do not call list means absolutely NOTHING!!!

Call from 319-730-2568.  Calling every evening around 9pm.

This was ridiculous... Called three times. My dad works nights, too! Every time I answered, I was met with silence.

I'm currently applying to colleges. I'm afraid that might be the answer.  I didn't answer when they called. However, I remember putting my number on my SAT and ACT for colleges to contact me, but I strictly put that it's best by mail or e-mail. First call that I have ever received. I'm pretty sure that the college name would pop up....

I've gotten a couple of calls from this number in the last few days.  I never answer and they never leave a message.  My son is a senior in high school who took SAT testing last year.

my son got a call tonight. they said they were from a school he is applying to, but they obviously were not
he gave them his email address. this should be illegal. my son is only 17 and didn't realize that it wasn't the school

6/24/12 - Received same msg from 800-811-4634, i rejected the call, they then called again from 319-730-2568 which i rejected again.  Wake me up early on a Sunday morning....i'm piss*#*d.

FYI.  Austin College is a four-year university about an hour north of Dallas.

If you have a son or daughter that is taking the ACT or SAT tests in high school, there is a check box on the test submission form that says something to the effect of "I would like to hear from interested colleges, university, and related companies".

By checking that box, your son or daughter has released your contact information to not only schools, but all the related marketing companies that have purchased the mailing/contact list from ACT or SAT.

The real scam here is that ACT and SAT release this information for profit, and have the audacity to charge you $50 for each school you would like to receive your test scores.  The real enemy here is not the telemarketer, but ACT and SAT.

Called my house two nights in a row without leaving a message.  When I called back, I got the voicemail at Ruffalo Cody, a private company that does marketing and fundraising work for colleges and other not-for-profits.  I left an angry message saying not to call my number again, and if they do, they will hear from my attorney.  I would not have been upset at all if they had simply left a message so I would have known what the call was about.

I got this number on the caller ID of my work phone. I'm not applying to any schools.

It's for a fundraiser. When you call it back there is a recording telling who they are.

I called the number back and it's a fundraising organization, currently raising funds for "college admissions".  Scam, and wondering where they got my number.  My son took the SAT this year.  Also, we used an SAT prep site.
