I receivd a call today. She said she was calling from Dow Jones. I think it was a recording because
I was saying hello the whole time she was speaking. Scam game! I am also on no call. Just will not answer call.

I called the wall street journal and had them put my name and my business on the Do Not Call list. Then I had them remove me from the automatic renewal program and informed them I would make my decision to renew based upon whether I hade been contacted by their telemarketers. Ha ha! We,ll see how this turns out.

How do we get them to stop calling!
Never ever do they leave a message and calls 3 to 4 times a day.

I got a call today from this number, and found this site with all the complaints. I am a past Wall Street Journal subscriber, so it's not surprising that I got a call even though I'm on the Do Not Call List.
Based on what I read here I did the following:
Called the Wall Street Journal at 1-800-568-7625. Said "print" and then "something else". When I got the CSR she asked for my state and mailing address, which I provided. When she asked how she could help I asked (politely) to be added to their do not call list, and the do not call list for all of their vendors. She happily did so, and also removed me from all snail mail contact lists as well.
Easy.
I'll probably also call http://www.tlcassociates.com/contact.html directly tomorrow to be placed on their do not call list.

Do you people think you're bad a**es or something? Go ahead, file a class action lawsuit. You'll get nowhere. Federal law allows telmarketing companies to call people who are current/former customers of a company. So stop whining. The do not call list doesn't matter. That only applies to cold calling and political calls. Be POLITE and ask them to remove your number. Just because it's a business number doesn't mean they can't call you. WSJ is a BUSINESS publication! Picking up the line without saying hello is rude. And it's just dead air to them, so how are they supposed to know you're there? Say something to indicate you are on the line. I worked for this company for a year and have moved on to the automotive industry. The people on the phones are very nice. As you could expect, they hate their job because of most of the people in this discussion thread. Be respectful and polite just like you would to any other human being and they'll be a lot more receptive to your request to remove your number.

Called the 319 730 4000 and asked them to remove me from their call list for all their clients. They were very gracious and said they would do it immediately. I will report back if they continue to call.

03/20/2012 These are marketing calls from Wall Street Journal to encourage you to re-subscribe to the newspaper. Seriously, Wall Street Journal should use a better way to drum up business. Here's some advice call the number (319) 730-4172 and ask to be placed on their DO NOT CALL LIST. I guess the FEDERAL one I'm on doesn't count for much, considering I still getting marketing calls!!!!

Why is this number calling and how do I stop it.
I do not appreciate unwanted calls especially solicitations.

Sounds like a call center. When they call if I don't answer they hang up. I re-registered with the do not call list since I was told this would it help. I get telemarketing calls for people in my family that have passed away also. It is so annoying. I get them east coast time and I am on the west coast as early as 5 AM. It is a telemarketing shop. they have my address too they asked to confirm it. Sick group and who has time for this? It's abuse really and invasion of privacy. distracting and annoying. I hate them. I work out of my house so it is even more obnoxious. .

I also received numerous calls from this number even though we're in the do not call list. This is very disturbing because when I picked up, there were no one answer!

Have been getting calls from this number. After reading the comments left on this site I think they are calling about our sub. to the WSJ. A very good paper. If I renew will renew with the paper. I asked to be removed from their data base and said that I wasn't interested in renewing to the WSJ. Now we will see what happens. If they are legit they will stop calling. Thanks folks for taking the time to leave commentd.

I am expecting calls based on job applications so I'm not sure what the caller ID will say. However, when I answer the phone and there is not a person or immediate message I assume it is a robotic or computer generated call and I hang up before it reconnects. I hope I am not hanging up on an important call but it makes me angry that I am getting so many of these unsolicited calls recently. I have started googling the caller ID or the telephone number and I am finding that others are getting the same calls and are not happy with the situation either. Various numbers and calls but they are numbering in the dozens.

I am a receptionist at a law firm and this comany calls daily for one of the attorneys. Hes not going to take their call be they dont get the hint and keep calling, they never are willing to leave a message even though I tell them, the only way to talk to him is to leave a message and if hes interested he will call you back. But they say no thank you, our lines are tied up all day so we will reach him at a better time. SO HERE IS THE BEST WAY TO GET BACK AT THEM>>>>>>WHEN THEY CALL I TELL THEM SURE PLEASE HOLD AND I LET THEM HOLD AS LONG AS THEY WANT>>>MAYBE THEY WILL LEARN MY TIME IS JUST AS VALUEABLE AS THEIRS AND THAT TIME IS MONEY. Calls me all the time at work for a year now. But you know what folks, I do as I preach. I completely ignore the calls. Never pick 'em up, never call back. To me, so what they call me? I know the caller when I see it, I looked at who it may be, and I just ignore it. How hard is that? 30 seconds of ringing which I can cut to 5 seconds by disconnecting. Don't play into this stuff, folks!

Guy called and said his name was Zack Glucka or something close to that and that he was calling from Dow Jones. I put him on hold for approx 30 seconds. He hung up.

Actually, for all the pity the telemarketer people, if Obama had 1/2 a brain he would empower the FTC to fine the scumbags the statutory fine for each violation and then hire more people to aggressively pursue these people. Telemarketing is dead. Get over it, Congress spoke. People don't have phones for your convenience, rather their own.

Got unwanted call from TLC & Assoc.
They hung up without any message.

Same story here. No message left but voicemail sounds like a boiler room operation. I filed a complaint at donotcall.gov. My line is has been registered with them for years. https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

Mel 2011-12-21 17:43:40 Unknown
I get any number a calls per week from this number. I want OFF their list.
dan 2011-12-20 22:02:18 Unknown
good luck as wrote the WSJ and told to stop calling and stopped for a bit and didn't ever think they would stop leaving the paper after the time ran out. now that they quit (2months later) they are calling again. since the paper got bought out the biggest share of news is favorable to right to extreme right wing or they do not print it in the paper. If someone they don't agree with does something good it is on page 17 in the bottom corner. There are some good iems on markets and corp. but you have to skip so much stuff and I'm a conservative. Oh well time are changin as they say..

"Another note: DNC list only applies to residential line, not business line." True for federal, some states (like mine) have stricter laws that apply to businesses as well.
Fed Up 2011-12-09 15:31:13 Unknown
"Telemarketers, by law, are not allowed to leave messages." This is either a bunch of garbage, or it's a law that's honored about as well as the Do Not Call law. We get messages from telemarketers all the time, usually recorded ones from equipment that's not sophisticated enough to tell that it's reached an answering machine.
