My 72 year old mother just received a call saying that she had four days to turn me in or they were going to storm her house and arrest her for harboring a fugitive.  She is 72 and sick.  I have spoken with the Secret Service here in Houston, and they are looking in this matter for me.

I so sorry to hear they upset you that much Jennifer.  After reading all of these similar stories, I'm hoping to start a major crusade against these losers.  They would not leave me alone until I made a police report for harrassing phone calls and the officer called the number and told them in no uncertain terms to leave me alone.  I am not through with these jerks yet.

File a criminal complaint.  In CA harrassing phone calls is ILLEGAL.  You're lucky you only got two calls a day...I got TWENTY!

I can tell you guys this much. I got the furthest with the FTC and the Secret Service, but you have to avoid the terminology "identity theft" for anyone to listen to you and take a report. And if the screener that answers the phone at your local Secret Service office tells you that it has to be a loss in excess of $10K, tell them this is already being investigated by other Secret Service offices and if that doesn't work, call another office. I had to call three before I got through to an agent. Then when you get an agent on the phone, lead them to this website for starters. This is important because I think this is bigger than we know or most of us realize so don't give up. We have to stop these people.

Is anyone going to provide ABC News with some more info? Just curious. My theory on this is that we don't want to overtly alert these people that they are being investigated, correct? Just wondering what thoughts are on this. But then again I think that they must be working in some way that keeps them from being caught, and that is how they are getting away with this. But it's got to be only a matte of time...

I just sent an email to this company in India.  Thank you for giving us their website.  I told them that the FBI, CIA and the Secret Service are working together investigating them and that every time they call me I was told to report it to the agent (I even gave his name) with the SS, he can keep the other agencies apprised of what these scam artists are doing so they can stop them.

I can't be certain, but the way they got me is I had defaulted on a payday loan.  There is a database of people that defaulted on payday loans (can even have been years ago). This company is using that database as a lead generator.

I'm surprised an FBI agent told you that considering that wire fraud (which includes the telephone) is a federal crime. I know that other people have contacted the FBI about these crooks and have had a more receptive attitude. It just seems that whether the FBI gives a darn or not depends on who at the FBI gets the initial complaint.  The luck of the draw, so to speak.  You may also want to give the Secret Service a heads-up; see my message earlier in this thread for a link.

By the way, the best spyware security software that I've found is totally free to download and update:  Spybot Search & Destroy -- http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

i have also been called with the same exact phrases....three counts of criminal charges, you will be in jail in 48 hours, payday advance, us bank, etc...i was absolutely livid. they also called my grandparents. The FBI told me they coouldnt help because it was over the phone. The FTC said it would go in a database. The local police said they would look into it. i told the creep on the phone i know they are scammers, and everyone knows about them. He seemed very angry, and he didnt want to answer me when i asked if he was in nigeria. Another thing, everyone needs to get Life Lock. It is legit and it protects you for a million dollars. Also, get spyware on your computer and run it very often. i dont understand how i was targeted. I never had a loan from such a company. He only had old info on me too. Does anyone know how they get our info? off of our credit report?

Law enforcement reaction to complaints about these crooks seem to vary. I've seen some people here say that their local Secret Service field was very interested, while others have posted messages saying that the Secret Service just told them it was a scam and not to pay.  Same thing with the FBI...the level of reaction seems to depend on each agent's willingness to get involved. The same goes with local police; some just take a report and do little else, while others seem more aggressive about pursuing the issue.  I think the best course of action is to file new complaints each time these crooks; if enough people do this, law enforcement will eventually get on the same page and will take action.  Hope this helps!

Have you ever taken out a payday loan? I think that's how they got my info. What they had matches what I used on a payday loan app.

I've been trying to report them and not getting far at all. This is ridiculous that they can get away with this sort of thing. Hopefully the Attorney General or FBI reports I put in will help. I even tried Jacksonville Police and got nowhere except they said this is an Office of Professional Regulation matter.

I have also been receiving calls from these losers.  I have had 2 lawyers, the FBI and the Chicago Police Department tell me it is a scam.  If anyone receives a single call from anyone using this number or 786-866-2982 report it to the FBI (https://tips.fbi.gov), the FTC (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en), the Internet Crime Complaint Center (http://www.ic3.gov), your local police, and you State Attorney General.  Interestingly, when my attorney contacted them they told him that they could not give him any information regarding the debt.

Does anyone know how thet got my info? They called my grandparents looking for me. I called the 321 number back. Daniel Page was the name of the person who left word with my grandparents. I asked him to mail or fax documentation regarding this debt and he said all they could do was fax an affidavit to my attorney. I contacted my local FBI field office and they stated there was nothin they could do unless I had already beem scammed. So now what should I do?

Glad to help.  You may want to turn the tables on these criminals by reporting them to federal and state law enforcement.  If enough consumers turn these crooks in, the only arrest warrants will be for them. :)

Thank you for this posting.  It has helped me deal with these people.  They call me at work about 2 times a day for the last month.  I will file with all the places listed.  I was also one of the ones who filed charges on Ellis Crosby and you are right, these people use almost the same words that I got from the Ellis Crosby people.  Thank you again for your research on these people.

Hi, Lori. You may also want to file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General.  Even though these creeps are calling from India, they used a Florida area code (321) to place these calls to you. Also, every indication is that these foreign dirtbags are working at the behest of a notorious Jacksonville, Florida debt collection scam (with whom the Florida AG is very familiar.)  The link to the Florida AG is: http://myfloridalegal.com/contact.nsf/contact?Open&Section=Attorney_General

I got a call at work from a man with a heavy accent stating he was from US Bank and had 3 criminal charges for me and wanted my attorney's phone number and wanted me to verify my social security number.
They number they gave me to call was 321-221-0018 but the caller ID reads 786-866-2982.  I insisted on an address for David Morgan & Associates and they gave me 13713 15th Street, Tampa, Florida 33612.  I mapquested this and nothing!
