This number calls claiming it is Verizon Wireless, and prompts you to hit a key on your phone for confirmation.
DO NOT hit a key.
No Doubt a phishing or fraud scam.
Credit card and service suppliers don't do that. Ignore the call, and call the REAL vendors main number ONLY (internet or directory assistance, not that number) , BUT ONLY if you have a relationship with them. If you do have a relationship with the calling vendor Complain by voice in person or contact them by valid email. They work for you the client....you don't work for them.
Hang up, and if necessary block the number on your phone. (Alternative for fraudulent or nuisance calls, file the number in your directory under Slime 1, 2, etc so you know not to bother answering!)
Hanging up is FUN!!! (Back in the day with unsolicited calls we used to say "hang on its for you" and give the phone to the Baby and laugh hysterically). Nice thing is nowdays you don't have to use spiteful tactics or to even say goodbye !!! Just hang up!
When phone etiquette is breached on an incoming recorded call, ..all etiquette is null and void. Hang up!

they call older people with a recording and ask them to press a number if they know or don't know "Mary"

I get calls from this number daily, but they never leave a voicemail.

Don't give them any information, and watch your account. Our Verizon account got hacked a few months ago, and now these calls from this number. Someone is trying to buy iPhones on other people's accounts.

We receive calls from this number also. We hang up and the caller ID doesn't say Verizon but other people say that's who it is. We have Verizon but pay our bill month and timely. We are going to call our local dealer and see what can be done to stop this.

Do you know anybody that works at a dentist office? I got call from the same number. Thought it was my dentist trying to track me down.

This is getting ridiculous. I am not the primary account holder. They keep on calling me, stating a status change in the account. Also keep texting me. I am fed up with the harassment.
