SHOWS JUNE 24, 2013 FL,USA - CALL CAME ON MY CELL. DID NOT ANSWER, HANG UP, NO MSG.
Irene 2013-07-02 22:17:44 Unknown
If you pick up an unknown caller and there is no one answering, just keep hitting ##### and this is supposed to delete your number from their system. Don't know if it really works, but its worth a try. I get about 4-5 of these type calls daily even though I have registered with the do not call bureau.

My neighbor has been getting numerous calls to his cell phone from this #. Now that I know it's a typical vacation scam I will block this caller from his cell.

No law can really stop scammers, they will always find ways to reach a potential mark. However, I bet you do not receive any cold sales calls from legitimate companies offering genuinely worthwhile goods or services. From that standpoint the Do Not Call law has been effective. It also was never designed to stop charities, real surveys (not the fake ones that are only to see if you qualify for their sales promotion), political calls or calls from businesses you have an ongoing relationship with nor debt collectors.

Just got this call (Sunday afternoon); I didn't answer and they left no message. The Do Not Call list was a great idea but the flaw was that it expected the scammers to obey the law.

I answered the call to my cell phone. It was a robocall stating that I would be awarded a cruise for two to the Bahamas if I would answer a survey. Press 1 . . . . It is my understanding that robocalls for marketing purposes is not permitted on cell phones by the FCC. However, this call was disguised as a survey! I will report this to the FCC, whose counsel seems to follow up on these calls. It will take, however, a number of complaints to cause the investigation.
Kevin 2013-06-22 16:06:07 Unknown
Just got it too. What is it?
susie 2013-06-22 16:00:35 Unknown
Yep, scammers at it as always. Thanks for your input!
Bobby 2013-06-22 15:24:57 Unknown
They are trolls trolling. Don't ever talk to trolls. They are scum.

These telemarketers nowadays use "robo-dialing" from computers. These programs just dial every phone number in a given exchange hoping to get a person to answer or otherwise listen to their sales pitch. Most of the numbers that come up on Caller ID are "virtual numbers" on the telemarketer computer and are, thus, neither a and line nor a cell phone. Calls TO such numbers normally generate a recording along the lines of "your call cannot be completed" or similar responses.
Fedd Upp 2013-06-22 15:13:10 Unknown
I also just received a call from this number on my cell phone. Didn't answer and they left no message.
DavNewpert 2013-06-22 15:03:06 Unknown
Reverse phone lookup indicated this is not a valid number. Now it has got to be a valid number to be able to dial from, unless the phone company has clones that cannot be traced. I don't answer calls from unknown numbers but it has to be from my phone company, Verizon, otherwise how would my phone number be available.

Got a call at 10:40 on a Saturday morning. I don't answer calls for numbers I don't know. They left no message.

Lx 2013-06-22 01:14:21 Unknown
Just got a call from them and I answered out of curiosity but no one was there! So I just hung up.
Stop 2013-06-21 20:04:23 Unknown
Because once you answer the phone they put you in their call directory as an "active" number then they sell your # tot he largest bidder and so on.
Savvy 2013-06-21 19:48:17 Unknown
That's because this number is SPOOFED (NOT REAL, a FAKE NUMBER that is sent via a COMPUTER to your caller id to DISGUISE the real number - often from OVERSEAS SCAMMERS).
THIS IS THE MARK OF SCAMMERS - THIEVES.
Good thing you didn't get through; you might have been charged HUNDREDS of dollars for calls to certain countries that charge $500/minute or MORE.

Got a SCAM mailing today offering a 'free' vacation: flight & hotel for two from "US AIRLINES" which is ENTIRELY BOGUS even though it SOUNDS similar to several LEGITIMATE airline names. It gave the number 855-879-8217 to call, which I DID NOT. Then, I got the call from THIS number, with Caller ID saying "FLORIDA." I suspected it was BOGUS but let it go to ans. machine, just in case, as we have family in FL and traveled there this past winter. No message left and online I found that this number is connected to the tired old 'Free Cruise' SCAM. LIKELY one and the same.
Moose 2013-06-21 19:32:24 Telemarketer
Pre-recorded message that says answer survey to receive two free cruise tickets to the Bahamas.
Savvy 2013-06-21 19:15:36 Unknown
Its not a LEGAL "Survey." LEGAL SURVEYS are the one that they do and then report in publications and on the news for scientific RESEARCH like how people are planning to vote, or how many have gotten sunburned in the past 10 years, etc.
This 'survey' IS A RUSE to attempt to get around the DNC LIST LAW for TELEMARKETING purposes. That STILL makes these calls ILLEGAL.
And, what's worse, these cruises are SCAMS, as well. "Yous pays yo' money and yous get not-ting."
Don't be naive or a dumba$$.
