A CONVICTED fraudster who launched a racist attack on a supermarket worker is facing jail.


Scott Horne, 33, shoved Gopisangar Balasinghan and called him a ?Paki? during a visit to Tesco Metro in Gants Hill.


Snaresbrook Crown Court heard yesterday that Horne of Gate House, Eastern Avenue, had attacked Mr Balasinghan less than two months after receiving a suspended prison sentence following a conviction for conspiracy to defraud.


Judge Martyin Zeidman QC warned Horne faced serving the four-month term on top of any sentence for lashing out at Mr Balasinghan.


?I have an open mind at the moment as to sentence,? the judge said.


?This must have been a very unpleasant incident from the point of view of the victim.


?It is a terrible thing to say a racist comment to someone, to call him a P*** and push him.?


Horne had denied the assault on Mr Balasinghan on June 16 last year and was due to stand trial but he later admitted the attack.


His barrister Ian Dowty read a prepared statement by Horne to the court in Hollybush Hill, Snaresbook which said he was ?angry and in drink? at the time of the attack.


The court heard Horne was convicted of conspiracy to defraud on April 29 last year and his sentence was suspended for two years.


Judge Zeidman bailed Horne until February 2 and ordered prosecutors seek a statement from Mr Balasinghan and an impact statement from the victim.


The judge ordered Horne not to contact the victim and banned the defendant from entering any Tesco store in Redbridge.


Horne is due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey next month.


Horne admitted racially aggravated assault by beating.

Urgent Voicemail Call at 245 am from Scott Corn (like the vegetable) 407-668-0216 saying we met a church around Christmas.  Gave names of two daughters and said they were a "young family".  Called back and when I asked which Church, he hung up or we lost signal.  Tried calling back several times and only got a message that the voice mail box was full.  After reading all the above comments, this appears to be the same scammer preying on churches and church related ministries.

Thanks for listing this scam! Just got the call and decided to search on the internet for the name and scenario, and sure enough, same information. The number he called from is (407) 668-0216.

A guy named Scott left a message that it was urgent to call this number that it was about a death, I did a reversed phone number and came up with this site, Thank you so much. From Wellsburg WV

Yep got the same story word for word!!! And he told us that he and his family were at our church at Christmas. Thank God for good stewards who keep records of all attendance and visitors!!!  He did not get any of God's money but he did get a prayer for his and his families salvation. Believing that God's Word will not return unto me void!!!

Guy named Scott Corn called at 4:30am with story:  mom killed by drunk driver, car threw a rod, need bus tickets, use money gram at Walmart, needs $$$. He hung up when I offered to pray with him. My wife found this site.  He called from 321-352-0908

Just got a call from Scot Corn..like the vegetable. Same story all the way down the line. Thanks for the info. This man will get exactly what he deserves at some point. Got a call from "Scot" (he specifically said "one 't') at 11:45pm. If he's really in Florida as he claims, that's 2:45am Florida time. Thanks to this site I learned that he's been telling the same story since at least 2009, using different phone numbers.

Same pitch for money: mother died in accident, car broke down, stranded with children.
Cannot verify name or obituary, etc.
Scam

Scott left an "emergency" message on our church answering maching about 10:00 Sunday night (3/25) saying he needed to talk with me about a death. I'm off on Mondays so I didn't even get the message until Tuesday morning. Been down this road before. Googled the number and found this site. Called our County Sheriff's Office, but all they could really do is make a note of the number. Said if I'd sent money they could open an investigation, but it would be difficult and likely wouldn't get anywhere.

I received a phone call from this same number this morning. He used the same exact story. He called at 7:00 am. and said he needed the money by 10:00 am. I decide to check on line as some of what he told me didn't seem to be totally legitimate. (He told me he visited my church some time back but I could find no record of his visit.) I am so glad for this site. When I called him back and explained that I had found some things out about him he hung up. The story pulls at your heart and makes you want to help, but beware.

Same thing happened to me except I got a voicemail from the guy saying to call him back and it was concerning a death.  I was concerned so I tried calling him back.  No answer.  I'm glad I found this site.

He's expanding his network, called to Texas - same story, so this site was helpful..., preys upon church's hoping to touch their generosity and willingness to help.  Beware - don't give him money.  Is using another number now:  321-576-2118

Scott Corn ... I have spent the last 2 hours trying to verify this guy's story. After trying unsuccessfully to validate the church where the funeral was held, the actual cost of the bus ticket, even the home address he provided, I decided to do a reverse phone number look up and stumbled onto this site. Thanks a ton for the info. I was torn between is the guy a crook or is he legit. Now I know!!!!

Man claiming to be "Scott Corn" called and told a sob story about his wife and him and 2 little girls being stranded in Florida after their car, 92 olds, threw a rod.  Really nice story.  He was at his mother's funeral, she was killed in a an accident by a drunk driver, blah, blah, blah... told me where the funeral was and I called and there was no funeral, no obituary to be found online (and they always are online these days), called him back and told him I couldn't give him money because I couldn't confirm his story- and he hung up.  Then found this site.  THIS IS A SCAM.  DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN MONEY.  For that matter, don't give money- pay for something directly but don't give cash....

Guy named Scott Korn called the church with story:  mom killed by drunk driver, car threw a rod, need bus tickets, use money gram at Walmart, needs $124.12.  Got us, beware!  Found this sight too late, but he had used a different number.
