This caller call my number and said his name is Glenn Brown. He left a voicemail on my phone. He said is a state locator and he needed to speak someone ( unidentied person) to call him by 3 pm today. First of all this person is unknown to my number, but I feel you do not leave this kind of information on a phone. He went as far as to give a case number. This has to be a scam. The person is unprofessional, threatening and demanding. He wanted this person for person to call him back. Please locate these people and put a stop to them. If I keep getting these kind of calls from this number or any other number I will have to take it further. STOP THE SCAM!!!

I received "my third & final call" yesterday this time from a number in TN! But still the wrong name! And also, even if this was legit, why do *I* have to verify my address/POE? If they can find the number they can find that info too!

The same thing has happened to my son, whom is 11 years old. He has a trac phone for emergencies, and they left a message for some odd name. Took minutes from his cell just listening to the stupid recording about contacting employers, and court dates. Sorry my kids is only 11 years old!

I have had the exact same type call that these others are reporting... I had a couple 2 weeks ago, never even paid it any mind, had 1 on last Wed afternoon (11/27/2013), and another 1 on Friday, 11/29/2013 (I was off of work on Wed afternoon and all day Friday...
Same thing... telling me that I had 2 charges against me, fraudulent activity and that they would be serving me a summons to my work or home address, and that I "better call to speak with their legal dept" because once I'm served I forfeit my rights of any negotiation. Also- not ONCE have any of the callers identified who they are, the company they are actually with, etc.. just "this message is intended for Carla..." I've yet to call and don't plan on it, especially after reading all of this.
I'm about tired of them calling my work # though. They've yet to call me anywhere, other than work...

I have received numerous calls from this number, and they have contacted my previous employer from 2006! I told them that this is my place of employment and that they can not call me here, to contact me on my personal line during my own time. They said don't worry, I won't be getting any more calls because they were sending someone to serve me a summons. They called back and asked to speak to my supervisor. I have instructed my receptionist to hang up on them as they became very rude and threatening. I don't know how they found this number to my office as that was in 2006 and I have been here since 2010! I told the "supervisor" that if I get any more calls I will be reporting them to the FBI.

Received this same call?2 charges of fraud associated with my social?need to go over my rights before being served or my rights will be forfeited?.hung up on when I called back and asked questions.
Emailed Attorney General. This was the response.
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is in receipt of the complaint you filed with our office (see below), and she asked that I respond.
This is nothing more than an old debt collections scam. You cannot be physically arrested for the non-payment of a debt. If the debt is legitimate, and a collection company files a lawsuit against you, that paperwork must be filed in the Clerk?s office in the county in which you reside. If it is not there, you cannot be served with any type of legitimate, legal process.
The telephone number you referred to is not the actual number of the company calling you. Instead it is a "spoof" number - a computer generated number that appears in your caller ID. Sometimes the scam company will spoof the actual number of your local police department, the courthouse, or even a legitimate law firm. They know you will probably look up the number online, and if you find that number is the same as a legitimate business or government agency, you may think the callers are legitimate. They?re not.
Even if you call the number back and someone answers, it is a number other than the one appearing in your Caller ID. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to determine exactly who these people are, and where they are calling from. Most of these scam collection companies originate in India, Canada, or somewhere other than the United States.
I hope this information is of some help to you. If you'd like to discuss it further please call me at the number listed in my signature block.
Thank you for contacting the Office of the Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

So, is this a scam....?? they said I owe them 500.00. They said in order for them to post pone the actions against, I would have to send them 50.00 tomorrow. I got the same call from 321-355-6925 stating on the vmail that i will be served due to 2 fraudelent claims attached to my ss# and that i need to dispute prior to being served. I called them back to speak to someone and the phone just rang & rang & sent me to a vmail box that was full. i then thought i would be smart and call 321-355-6900 (maybe get the operator) but that just went to a vmail. i am not calling them back again as if there was a fraud claim, i have worked in collections, that is not how its done. they cant even leave that on your vmail. sounds like a scam and from what i see above, they seem to be reaching out to random people. i'm done!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Please do not fall for this scam. I know it is scary but that is exactly why they do it. Go online and report the call to the FTC, FBI and even your local police. You can usually file a complaint online. Don't answer their calls.

Received a message from 321-355-6925 stating that fraudulent activity was reported under my social security; I was given a case number and told to contact the above number and that legal action would be taken if I did not act. A woman calling herself Erica Zavala left the phone message and when I called, a woman answered simply with "legal department". When I asked for her name she hesitated, then said, "Sheila Jackson".

The exact same message was left on my home phone for my sister and it scared us because she is on probation. Now that I found out this info we are relieved to know it is a scam. Something has to be done about this. What can we do to stop these people from harassing innocent people such as all of us?
