I received a call yesterday on my cellphone from a company stating that they could lower my interest rate by 6%. It starts off as a recording, #1 to speak to a representative, #2 to be taken off of the list. Out of curiosity I pressed #2. A man answer and started to give some long speech. I stop the man in his tracks and asked him which of my credit card companies was he calling from.  he said that the company serviced all credit card companies. I then asked him for the name of the company. He said the United Debt Aid. When I asked for a phone # he hung up on me. My caller id says he called from Florida, 321-779-3962. My sister got a call from the same company for several days from the same company on her cellphone. She finally cursed the woman out and asked for a supervisor. The woman told her that she wouldn't be speaking to a supervisor and called her a w***e. The # they called from was 407-207-0820. This is definitely a scam!

I am posting here the following post from another web site in hope that people will contact this police chief who is willing and able to strike a blow against these criminal telemarketers.

Fayette Police Dept., Iowa - 12 Apr 2008
I am the Chief of Police in Fayette, Iowa and have received calls from this number. I am willing to pursue criminal charges, but am appealing to those who have been called to forward any information on this number to me. These types of fraudulent companies need to be removed from our society.

My email address is fayettepolice@mchsi.com

These criminal telemarketers illegally leave fake information on your Caller ID (hence why some of the companies who you think are the ones calling really are not).  The only way to stop them from calling you again and again (using different spoofed Caller ID info each time) is to report them using their real identities.  Information on how to do this can be found at the only web site whose focus is to do just that:  www.heatherwithaccountservices.com.

Re-reading what I wrote, I real it came out sounding in a way I didn't intend it to. Yes I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but I meant if there was something in the post that was incorrect then I would like someone to point it out.

I'm glad you reported too. I think everyone should.

It's hard to tell if you were thanking me or being sarcastic. Did one of the links on the message not work? If it didn't, let me know which one.

I know I've been posting this message a lot, but I did it for a reason. First I was ignoring them and hanging up. But they started calling when my baby was taking a nap and would wake up and cry. Plus they somehow got my grandmother's number. She's 81 and starting to get senial. I've changed both her number and mine and registered both numbers on the National Do Not Call List, but within a week of changing the numbers the calls started up again at the new numbers.

I now have to explain to my grandmother on a regular basis that the people calling her are nothing but scumbags who are trying to rip her off and steal her money. I don't live with her and I only hope that she hasn't given them information already.

So I'm pretty ticked off at these people.

I have received several phone calls from companies running various different scams. In one case they claimed they could lower the interest rate on my credit cards. Since I don?t have any credit cards, I pressed 1 to speak to someone to get my name taken off the calling list. When I got in touch with someone I spoke to a man and explained to him that I don?t have credit cards and want to first off make sure that no one else has a credit card under my name and also get my name taken off whatever calling list they have. Once I explained this, the man promptly hung up on me. I tried to call the number back and it was disconnected. I got this call from two different numbers on two different days. One of them was 321-779-3962 and the other was 954-535-9912. Also today (3-13-2008) I got a call where the number came up as all 0?s (000-000-0000) and the name came up as unavailable. I didn?t reach the phone in time but I know it?s got to be the same scam. I received another call a few days ago and when I answered the phone the woman claimed to be calling from the Cancer Fund of America Support Services and asked for a donation, I declined because I?m pretty sure this is also a scam. Non-profits don?t solicit donations by phone. When I did a search for the first two numbers back on 3-6-2008, I realized that there were way more than these 2 numbers associated with this scam and I started reading through the blogs and collecting information.

I have continued to get these calls and received another one on 4-2-08 from 916-219-8149 and another on 4-3-08 from 305-672-6663 this time offering to extend the warranty on my vehicle.

I received another one of these calls from 800-208-2500, I didn?t answer, when I called the number back it was a company called Fingerhut.

This is what I've gathered so far by looking at the websites that pertain to these scams. Just so we're clear, I'm only reposting information from other posts I've seen regarding these scams. I've filed a complaint on the Do Not Call list website. The information to do that is posted below. If someone knows a better way to report this please take the information that I've posted here and any additional information that I might have missed and include it with the report. I will be posting this message on all the websites I can find that have to do with this scam and as I find more information I will add it to the post so it won?t necessarily be exactly the same each time. As far as I?m concerned you can copy and paste this on another site to warn others.

There are far too many numbers associated with these scams than can be listed. They come from numbers from almost every area code and some erroneous ones I am listing some of them in order to create a cross reference for when a search is made for one or more of these numbers:
000-212-4375
207-439-9039 (this is someone?s personal number and the company is cloning it so it shows up on the caller ID)
207-498-0741 (this one has also been noted with the international code 44-207-498-0741)
207-512-2178
207-512-2186
207-989-6079
239-263-5860
239-658-0747
270-922-2017
303-280-8689
305-672-6663
321-207-0023
321-779-3962
352-357-4151
514-448-4585
514-833-1079
800-208-2500
800-390-4812
850-271-8240
850-475-5122
888-226-5185
904-779-8982
916-219-8149
954-535-9912
954-623-4620
954-752-3816
954-920-5550

In some cases the call may come through as Unavailable and the number will be all zeros (000-000-0000).

This is the info I've gathered so far regarding these scams, if I?ve missed anything please post it. I will be posting this message on all the boards I can find that report on this scam. I will change and up date the message as I gather more info.

Update: I just saw a post that states that there is a link you can go to and record your own phony ?This number is disconnected recording? so that pretty much answers how they did that. Here?s the link: www.payphone-directory.org/sounds.html

That some or all the numbers are possibly listed with Bell South and an e-mail can be sent to Bell South regarding this to info@connectbellsouth.com . Some of the numbers may be listed with Verizon.

The people who call go by several names:
1. Heather
2. Shantel
3. Jessica
4. Jerry (a female)
5. Angel (also female)
6. Thomas Ellis
7. Dana
8. Tiffany
Again these are the one's I've collected. If anyone has recieved one of these calls from someone giving a name different than the one's above on the list please post it.

They are running at least 9 different scams:
1. Offering to lower APR on credit card
2. Offering to extend car warranty
3. Offering free vacations
4. Confirm delivery of telephone directories
5. Selling pills
6. Requesting Donations from Cancer Patients
7. Requesting Donations for local Police (don?t feel guilty for not donating, if you google this scam will you find out that it?s a scam being run all over the country and the money DOES NOT go to help police.)
8. Requesting Donations for local Firemen (same as above, google it and you will see)
9. They are calling and leaving messages on cell phones stating they got your number from a friend and leaving different internet handles and e-mails, such as: 2cute4u94.matchjump.net, butterflyd34 matchjump.net, 2cute4, butterflyd34, psychocutie_p080.matchjump.net, psychocutie_p080.love-only.com, onewolf624, lonewolf624.matchjump.net, psychocutie_p080, psychocutie_p080.datepit.net, maryloubell97@love-jump.net, lady_sohappy.love-jump.net, psychocutie_p080 from lovejump.net, psychocutie_p080.date-line.net, Teeny4, mailover7.box-o-love.com, date-magik.com, teeny4, teeny4.matchjump.net, bludevigirl_822K.matchjump.net, kinky0909, kinky0909.matchjump.net, hope0707.box-o-love.com, BluDevilGirl_822k, ect. (Again there are too many of these for me to list them all)

If you got a call with a different scam please list it.

They are claiming to be from different companies, or at least that is what some people are reporting. I contacted 2 of these companies and spoke to someone at  http://www.allaboutu-vacations.com/ and First Investors Svcs https://www.fifsg.com/default.aspx they both claim to not have anything to do with this scam. I don?t have anyway to verify it or not.

Again if anyone has a better way to report this, please take all this info and do so and also post it so others can do the same.
Here?s an e-mail address for a woman who calls herself ?sue? and claims that she will teach you how to sue these people for a fee. suetelemarketers@yahoo.com I provide this for informational purposes only. I personally wouldn?t go this route and would advise others to be wary of this, it sounds like another scam.
There?s another person who is claiming that they want to file a lawsuit against the company First Investors Financial SVCS who he / she believes is the company that is making these calls and asks people to send any info to their e-mail address: bustunsolicitedtelemarketers@yahoo.com . I?d be wary of this as well. There are e-mail scams out there and you don?t want to get caught up in that.

Also, I do not want to take credit for other?s people?s information.
Here is a list of the websites from which I have gathered all the above info:

There is a post claiming that the calls are coming from the PDC and they are simply trying to verify delivery of phone directories. Here is a copy of the post and the website where it can be found.
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-303-280-8689
Product Development Corporation - 21 Aug 2007
Product Development Corporation (PDC) is a national distributor of telephone directories.  PDC utilizes phone calls to confirm delivery of telephone directories.  PDC does not leave the survey questions on an answering machine.  The Federal Do-Not-Call legislation does not appy to organizations that are not soliciting (selling or marketing something). PDC is not soliciting.

PDC uses delivery verification through phone calls because of the cost and quality of this quality control method.  This type of quality control process is done by all the major companies in the distribution of telephone directories.  Having said this, PDC is aware and respects that there are individuals that would not like to be part of this type of survey.  As a result, PDC has created its own internal Do-No-Call list.  If you or anyone else would like to have their phone number removed from our calling lists, please email the phone number you wish to be removed to DoNotCall@teampdc.com.

I would like to reiterate that delivery verification calling is a quality control standard in our industry and that each company that does this type of quality control is responsible for their own list.  As such, even though PDC will no longer contact all numbers that are requested to be on our DoNoCall list, you may be contacted by others that do not have this capability.

Product Development Corporation

I have researched this as much as I possibly can and I?ve realized I can?t possibly go through all the notes and gather all the relevant information by my self.
There are thousands of these numbers and notes from each one. One thing is clear, they are running several scans and most of those scams are run by the same people.
Here are some of the websites with lists of all the reported numbers. The sites go by area code. Just replace the 3 digit area code at the end of the link with the area code of the number that called you and you?re sure to find the number on the list and notes from several other people who got calls from the same number.
I am still working on this list, it will take a while. My goal now is to cross reference all the searches and ultimately create a bulletin about these scams to post on various different websites ie: craigslist.com, myspace.com, ect. The reason for this is I figure if it get?s spread around enough and enough people know about the scam to not fall for it, then their operation will fall apart and the calls will stop.
This message is constantly being edited and changed, feel free to add whatever information you can and re-word it in a more comprehensive manner if you like and repost it. Thank you. I am still compiling this list. If you have received a call from an area code not on this list, please copy one of the links below and replace the last 3 digits with the area code of the number that called you place a report.

Unfortunately, they give out different company names to different people and they call from various different numbers. I must be on some sort of list because I get a call from a different number and rotating scams at least 3 times a week.

I have compiled some information, but I don't know how helpful it will be.

Here's what I've come up with so far:

There are far too many numbers associated with these scams than can be listed. They come from numbers from almost every area code and some erroneous ones I am listing some of them in order to create a cross reference for when a search is made for one or more of these numbers:
207-439-9039
207-498-0741 (this one has also been noted with the international code 44-207-498-0741)
207-512-2178
207-512-2186
207-989-6079
239-263-5860
239-658-0747
270-922-2017
303-280-8689
305-672-6663
321-207-0023
321-779-3962
352-357-4151

7. Dana
Again these are the one's I've collected. If anyone has recieved one of these calls from someone giving a name different than the one's above on the list please post it.

They are running at least 7 different scams:
1. Offering to lower APR on credit card
2. Offering to extend car warranty
3. Offering free vacations
4. Confirm delivery of telephone directories
5. Selling pills
6. Requesting Donations from Cancer Patients
7. Fingerhut

Same as above if you got a call with a different scam please list it.

11. Another number 207-439-9039 calls back to a person?s voice mail. Someone posted that this is their personal home number. The post can be found here: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-207-439-9039 .

In one case a phone number was given without a company name or any other info: 800 847 2911

A possible location without a company name was also posted: NW 7th Avenue (between NW 1st Street and West Broward Blvd.) in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

8. Send an e-mail to Bell South to info@connectbellsouth.com .
9. File a police report and then call the Verizon Unlawful Call Center at 800-518-5507 with the report number.

I have researched this as much as I possibly can and I?ve realized I can?t possibly go through all the notes and gather all the relavent information by my self.

I have been called by this "company" 3 times on my cell phone (which is against the law even if the number is not on the DNC- any unsolicited telemarketing or email to a wireless device or toll free number in which the recipient would be charged a fee for the communication is a violation).  The first two times, the number shown was +442074303251.  A prerecorded message about "lowering my interest rate" was left on my voicemail without a company name or call back number.  The 3rd call came in from 321-779-3962; the EXACT same message.  I did a Lexus Nexis search on the number- no business listings, numerous personal listings, but last reported under an individual 4/04.  I have filed 3 complaints with Do Not Call.  I need to know the actual name and address of this company because I do plan to sue!  If anyone has that info, please post it here.

I'm in New York.  I googled this number and found out about the scam.  My VM picked it up.  The message was about lowering my credit card interest. I've only received one call so far.

I have received several calls from this phone number. On the one this morning my caller ID just said, Eau Gallie, Fl along with the number. How can their business ID be a town? The recording said this was my final chance to lower my credit card debt with them. One can only hope!! LOL I reported this AGAIN to the Do Not Call Registry. Do they really do anything about stuff like this?

Got a call on my cell from 321-779-3962 telling me I could lower the interest rate on my credit card.  I pressed 1 for more info and got Richard.  I asked Richard if he could lower my interest rate below 0%, as that's what I have now and if they would pay me to borrow money from them.  He said "Yes, I will pay you a million dollars.  And you know how I'll make money on that?  Volume."  Richard was pretty rude and then he hung up on me.

Since so many people are getting these calls I've created a blog at: http://heatherwithaccountservices.com/

I want this to be a big info source for people being harassed by these criminals. With luck we can work together to take them down. So please visit http://heatherwithaccountservices.com/ and tell other people about it as well

I pressed 2 this time since they never take me off the phone list and they asked if I was interested in lowering my interest on my credit card. I said " Iam" and I asked if they have a web site and she said she must qualify me first and they have that info in the next department after they qualify me. Thats where they will give me the address or a phone #BS! She said they want to contact my bank and they would lower my interest for me but Ithey need my account numbers :O,, I filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General.. here is the website.. http://myfloridalegal.com/

I wasn't home when the call came in (wouldn't have mattered, I let unknown calls go to my fax program in my computer).  Caller ID said Eau Gallie, FL and phone number was 321-779-3962.
