I used to be a Verizon customer, and moved to Page Plus Cellular last spring. I found out today that PPC cannot block numbers. Interesting, as they use the Verizon system. I guess Verizon has to differentiate their services from the resellers' feature set.

I didn't know about that feature when I was a Verizon customer -- perhaps because my venerable Motorola v60i was too old to make use of it? The only way to prevent spam text messages was to turn off voicemail, too... Looks like I'll be going back to that method of spammer discouragement. Not a big deal. If I see a missed call that I recognize, I'll call back pronto.

Received a "Name unknown" call on 9/10/2011 at 9:32AM. This is the guy with the Indian accent who purported to be officer John Smith (or similar Anglo Saxon name) from a fictitious government financial agency... searching in vain for Brandy, who seemed to have fallen in with loan sharks. Alas, he left numerous wheedling voicemails -- and burning up my prepaid minutes.

It was around this same time that I received a bunch of text messages -- don't remember if they were for Brandy as well. I replied to those "Remove," and the texts stopped. I think I turned off messaging for my phone after that.

Eventually the calls stopped. But before they did, his persistence came to resemble that of the badger in "The Gods Must Be Crazy." He'd figuratively clamped his teeth around my cell phone number.

I posted this oldie to the list after discovering this lovely website yesterday. Wanted to make it part of the historical record.

i keep getting this number calling me and no one says a word and hangs up. so the next time i answer i will say. hello you have reached the information hotline with the IC3 unit within the FBI. all names phone numbers and addresses are recorded. thank you please leave a message and we will be sure to visit you.

I am ready to flip the F$#@ out!  I've gotten calls from a pharma company for 2yrs now but atlst they stop.  This payday company doesn't get the hint.  Let me preface by saying I never ans any unknown #s until today!  On Thursday I had about 5 missed calls from 625-901-5782.  Then on Friday I had numerous missed calls from 415-792-3093 and 712-930-4871.  Now today 322-645-4750 has called me 9 TIMES!  Really?!?!  By the 7th call I answered but didn't say a word and the line was disconnected.  The 8th call I answered and I heard a quick beeping sound then a guy started to speak.  I have a feeling its a voice recognition system that only connects you to an operator once a voice is heard.  The guy did his little script which all I undertsood was $1,500 loan.  I kindly told him to stop calling me.....silence.  I said, Do you understand?  He said, why?  I said bc I will NEVER authorize a loan and to stop calling.  He hung up on me.  An hour later, once again they were calling with call # freaking 9!  I saved all of these #s in my phone as Scam and the area code and glad I did.  I am so fed up so I called Verizon inquiring on blocking #s.  So happy it can be done!  If you are a verizon customer, go to My Account and on the home screen where you see your phone scroll down and you will see an area that says "I want to.....".  In that area you will see block calls.  You have the ability to block up to 5 #s.  The verizon guy I spoke with said he receives them too and they were told its companies selling our info.  As for the comment above stating "we" did a cash advance lately and this is why we are getting the calls.....ummm no get your facts straight.

They call 4-5 times an hour!!!  They don't stop!! It is the same Indian guy everyone here has been talking about. I could hardly understand him. LOL I think i'm going to try the wistle. Thats an awesome idea!!!!!!

Called me earlier today and requested that they remove me from whatever list they had.  They just called back again and I repeated that I had asked to be remove and he starting telling me about the law.  Who are these people?  Who do you report these kind of calls to?

Calls started today @ 7am. Showed up as +32 2 645 47 50, twice.  Then went to 322-645-4750.  Had 2 calls later from 211-373-9321 8:40 & 9:10am.  
Then +62-590-15782 @ 9:31am & 10:05am,  (625)-901-5782  at 10:36 & 11:21am, and again 12:34pm.  Then +41 57 923093 @ 2:28PM, (415)-792-3093 @ 2:59pm, & 4:11pm

A new number 712-390-4871 @ 4:52pm & 6:38, +7 (129) 304-87-1 @8:09pm, then (712) 930-4871 @ 8:19p, 8:43p, 8:58p,  

It is 9:32p and all is quiet.  Fingers crossed.

This number keeps calling! Along w/ another 625 #. It's so annoying!!

Got 2 calls back to back..  First time from the number 322-645-4750 asking for my son, I told them he didnt live here, they thought I was his sister and I told him I was his mother, they were inquiring about some car loan.  Then the same s*thead called again from 625-901-5782 and I tried to tell this jerk he just called looking for my son and he denied it and said he was calling about a payday loan and wanted my D.O.B.  I told him I am not giving out any personal info and asked him if he was crazy..  He responded by yes..  Aren't you crazy..  Do you want a friendship?  and kept saying "I Love you"  I finally had to hang up.  Next time maybe I will tell him my D.O.B.  is 500BC......  That and I tried to tell him he was soliciting and that I am on the Do No Call list and he needs to loose my number.

3 calls from same indian guy. i told him to take me off his list, he hung up on me and still calls!!!

company call trying to verify loan application. no applications made by me. no call back. makes me very concerned

lol same here man f**gots been calling me alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll day. never says a word. He's using some sort of proxy service it seems. Maybe we can backtrace it ;D

Just gotten a call from this freaking number, they been calling all day not leaving any message, sick of these cons calling even after dinner time.

I have been getting this call on my cell phone 3, 4 times a day in the last 2 weeks or so... I never answer call if the number I'm not recognize or block #... this is such BS... I guess time to change # again..lol

Mr. Number Call Block.  It's basic services are free and it works great!  Stops the annoying spam, collections, sales calls, private numbers what ever you program it to.

I use a prepaid cel phone and received calls from different numbers including this number even I am on "Do not call list".

Keeps calling! At least 10 times today. Sent to TrapCall, but they are still getting through!

Got a call on 9/6/11 @ 10:09AM asking is Dexter was there.  Hung up when I raised my voice to tell them they had wrong #.  Called Back 3 other times.

This t**** head called and wanted to know about my auto loan.
Asked if I had applied for a loan.
I said no twice
He hung up.

I am sick from work today and received 4 calls in less than 2 hours , wow wonder how often they call while I am working.  Worse yet 951-489-0223 watch out for them!!!! They curse you out and threaten you when they know your on to them.  Will try your idea.

I usually try and convince these jokers that I want to have phone sex.  They NEVER call back.   Works like a charm.

It's a payday loan company from India. You all must have done a cash advance recently. India call centers are buying these lists daily.

OMG who ever is calling me from this number is getting on my nerves! I can't even shower without them calling me..I wish people would understand we have more important calls coming in then these crazy telemarketing or who ever they are!!!!
