I have received the same thing several times in the last 2 weeks.
We've got to remember when we sign up for things online or purchase things online, or enter contest online, where you have to set up a profile or something of that sorts, that we MUST UNCHECK the box that says something like "yes, contact me with other offers" or "yes contact me about other offers from our partners".
Normally I remember to uncheck all that crap. This time I must have missed one somewhere. But it does surprise me because when something asks for a phone number I usually put in (area code)000-0000. Most of the time that works. Or I'll use (area code)123-1234.
I would have only used my true number if it was a ligit site like Old Navy or Amazon, so they can contact me about orders.
I'm sure I'm getting these stupid texts because I forgot to uncheck a box somewhere. UGH!
Also, I would recommend you DO NOT reply back to these people. You never know if that "oks" them to keep calling you or now they see you've responded so they will keep it up. I would just report them to the FCC like others have said.
Good luck to all! I hope this stops!

There is no one at the other end of the line.
they call 15 minutes apart, or 4 hours apart, but 3-4 times a day.

Rec'd call on cell phone at 8:47 AM SUNDAY morning 12/13/09.  Message : "Attention first time all home buyers etc"  This is third time but since I deleted the first two cannot verify that number was the same.  Verizon customer service advised me to text reply the word STOP and that this would remove my number from the robot dialer.  I have no wy to verify this but suggest others being harrassed by these robo calls try cntacting their service provider and lodge complaints.

"Dear Homeowner, interest rates are at historic lows. Now is the time to refinance. May we give you a call regarding this?

I txt them back threatening to report them to the FCC if they contact me again. We'll see if that resolves the problem.

I encourage everyone who is annoyed by these calls and text messages to file a complaint with FCC. They shoud be fined and have to pay for the text messages they have sent.

Sent me something like "Dear homeowner, interest rates are at an all time low, may we contact you about this?" I ignored it, and hopefully I will get no more. I wonder if anyone actually falls for this crap?

got the same texts repeatedly- ATT will not block calls unless you pay an extra fee per month- go figure. then, after playing a little game with them, they called me from 614-596-1810. I advised them I am on the FTC do not call list, and that if they call again, I would sue.

Go to your cell phone provider's web site and add this phone number to the blocked phone and message list - this should end the text messages inbound.

These dirt bags do not quit calling.  I asked them nicely than after repeated calls I did not ask nicely.  I am sure there is a way to report war dialing to FCC.  HERE https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do  FCC > CGB > Filing a Complaint > Form 1088
