this number called 9 times it rings 1 time hangs up who is this

I've been getting calls from this number 323-429-7535 AND 9097599176.  12 calls from the 909 number yesterday and I expect a repeat on the 323 number today.  The one time I did answer it was much the same as other callers have described.  I told the caller that I'd cancelled that account months ago.  The caller thanked me and ended the call.  Apparently they don't bother updating their system.  The caller had a foreign accent though I couldn't place it; maybe Indian or one of the Eastern Bloc languages.  

If you use a Blackberry, you might try using the Black & White List application, which, once you add the number to the Black List, will intercept the call and direct the caller straight to voicemail.  I typically don't know I've received a call until something legitimate comes in and I see the missed phone call message.  In my experience, these kinds of callers NEVER leave voicemail messages because having a legitimate call back number would leave them open to thousands of complaints not to mention legal action.  

Basically, it's just a phone variation of web-based phishing scams.

I seriously doubt that the standard number they use does more than go to a recording that does absolutely nothing when it directs you to press 1 to be removed from the list aside from recording your phone number so that they know they've got a live phish.  If they get nothing else from you, they'll be generating a list of live phone numbers which they can sell to some other equally slimy organization.

I just called my cell phone company and they are able to block up to 5 numbers for free which I had them do. An additional $4 for up to 20 numbers to block. I hate telemarketers!! Hope this helps..

This is a phishing scam. Scary thing is that they know your name, address, and banking account (checking/debit or credit card number) information. They keep you on the telephone for as long as possible. My daughter-in-law is very young and naive and they kept her on the cellphone. Told it was "No obligation & no purchase necessary". When she kept telling them she wasn't interested, he told her that she was going to get this "whether she liked it or not".  Then the man sped up his speech. He had a very heavy accent and was talking so fast that it sounded like gibberish and you couldn't understand what he was saying.  They hit my son's checking account for $23.85 for ID Insurance, some sort of magazine, and Emergency Roadside Assistance. I called the toll-free numbers shown on the transactions and asked that the charges be reversed. Was told they could not reverse the charges and she would have to listen to recording 1st. I also listened and told her that she could not honestly say that she could understand a word this man was saying.  Phone call lasted 14 minutes 25 seconds but I was only allowed to listen to last 3 minutes of call.  DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE. HANG UP IMMEDIATELY IF YOU MISTAKENLY ANSWER THE PHONE or they will get you too!!!

I've been getting this number and several others for the past week and they are a scam so be extra careful and best advised to hang up immediately. They do know your address, name, etc. Companies usually don't call at 9:00 PM (Time they called me) and not from multiple area codes. The other numbers I got are the same listed by CHENJESU. They have a heavy accent and will try to send to their "supervisor." Even if you tell them you are not interested in anything they become even more persistent. Hope this was helpful.

got a call from this number on my cell on 4/17.  I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know so I let it go to VM.  They didn't leave a message so I can only assume that it was a marketing call

this number called me and the person on the other end could bearly speak english, they wouldn't leave a message, with me they just hung up when i said my husband wasn,t home

just got a call from this number. called it back and got a nice sounding lady. but as soon as i said that this number called me, she hung up.

I received three calls from these guys in 30 minutes. They open up by asking if I have a credit card with the last four digits of ####. I do have a card with these numbers. I asked him who he was and he gave me his name. I told him that I didn't care what his name was that I wanted the name of the company he represented. He told me he was from a company called "Global Marketing." I then asked him who provided him with the information. He said that they have thousands of people who give them information. I said that I wanted to know the company who gave him my information and he hung up the phone. The man was very rude and very evasive concerning the questions about who he represented and where he got the info.

Are these people committing credit card fraud? Should I go out and change everything?

Thie number and another associated numbers has called me as well several times. This is annouying and harassing. I have recieved numbers as late as 11:45 p.m. I don't know about others but where I am from most people are in bed at this time. I believe this company should take a hint when they do not recieve an answer and remove the numbrs from their list that aren't recipricating communication. This is not professional at all.

I received 25 unwanted calls from this number. The last call was at 11:44Pm Eastern Standard time. It seems to be an automated call. No one is on the line when answered, just a busy signal.

I was getting several calls last month from this number and others in California. I called one of the numbers back and pressed one to be placed on their "do not call list". After this I got calls from private numbers that were sent straight to voicemail by my cell phone software. They have left me alone since September 29th until this past week. On the afternoon of October 9th and 15th I received calls from this number that were blocked by my cell phone call blocking software. It sounds like they will just continue calling once in a while to see if I still have their number blocked rather than honoring my request to be placed on their do not call list.

They keep calling my cell biz line.  Was rude first couple of times and got them to hang up.  Then decided to waste their time as they were wasting my by keeping the caller on the line and barraging them with questions as to how they got my info.  She finally said that I should be expecting their call as I had done biz with one of their "partners" within last 18 months.  I think it started with the ATT $50 rebate card that I got and used upon purchasing the phone/biz line.  I think that using the rebate card (my money) registered my name and number with these people.  As well, the biz line is a corporate listing and noone should have my name but the phone company.  I think my problem started by doing biz with ATT.

I received a call from this number with the caller (Indian accent) asking me about a card for one of my businesses that is in no way associated with my name. I repeatedly asked the caller where he got this information and finally explained that my name was in no way associated with the card. I have never used the card online or over the phone.
These people really piss me off. I actually located a call center for one of the "auto-warranty" call groups in St. Paul, MN. I live in MS, but have friends in the area. I was able to transmit a hard-copy (brick) with my number and a "please do not call" note. I don't like when people call me with partial information and questions about things they know nothing about.

I received four calls so far.  Each one hour apart.  I was at work and didn't answer, luckily.  That's for the warning.

I've been getting a load of these /&;&;$:& telemarketer spam calls from various Los Angeles area phone numbers.

Received 3 calls from this number. The first call was at 7:05 PM. I blacklisted their number usin the CallBlock Software for my cell phone. They made 2 more attempts to call at 8:07 PM and 8:31 PM. Has anyone had unauthorized charges to their credit or debit card after receiving these calls? I'm a little concerned since people mention that they have their correct billing info and account number. I started getting calls yesterday from (626)273-8241 and (714)682-8301. After a total of 14 calls I started looking for way to stop calls and found the CallBlock software. Today I got calls from (760)204-8483 and (818)870-9265. They seem to give up when a call is intercepted by my software as they will make one call then after I blacklist them, they attempt again and don't call again. This number made two attempts after I blackmail their number. How many numbers do these people have? Do they really have peoples credit card info and could make fraudulent charges to my card? Who are these people and is there a legal way to stop them? Even though I don't answer these calls, I consider it harassment when someone calls 14 times in one day and starts using multiple numbers to call from. It should be illegal to repeatedly call someone when they don't answer.

i have gotten four calls within the last half hour from this number.  I finally answered and told them to remove me from their call list.  They then promptly hung up on me.  I called back and pressed one to be removed from their list.  I hope it works.

Calls from 323-429-7535 today. I would say about 7 or 8 calls asking for my employer. I tried to tell them that this was a business and then they hang up on me. When I ask to take a message they also hang up on me. I think they said they were Visa but they have foreign accents.

This number called me with my home address and debit card number, I tried to tell him to take me off the list, but he got mad at me and kept saying my name in a rude tone. I told him the information was incorrect and took my name off their list, and they are continuing to call me.

They keep harrassing me everyday over and over again asking for a Jim Hansen.  When I instruct them not to call again they keep calling back.  I called the number back and press 1 to remove my name from list but keep calling.  This is definately harrasment and then they called back from another number 619-801-8142.

Just got the same call.  They want to verify my address and card# so they can send me a free $100.00 gift card to wallmart.  They had my personal info, but didn't know what bank my credit card was from.  I told them I would not give out any personal info over the phone and he became rude and buligerent.  I became more rude and beligerent and kept him on the line until he finally hung up.  IMO the only way to get these people to go away is to waste their time.  They will keep calling back if you don't make it painfully clear they have no option to swindle you.  I believe they get their information from some online purchasers.  I used my card to buy something online and 5 days later got a call from these folks.  (the first time.)  I immediatley canceled the card and had a new one issued.  When they called me back today (about 6 weeks after the last call) the referenced the same card # and not my new one.  Clearly they are up to no good.

Same here. They call saying the represent Visa and my card ending in (they give the four number). I called the bank that issues the card and they said they do not sell numbers and this is not a complaint they've heard. So I haven't figured out how to stop these calls.
