got a text nearly identical to the ones above for a motor i am selling on craigslist.  Def a scam.  Hope this guy gets caught.

Dont ever give out your paypal account or any information to any one on Craigslist, this site is good for  scams  every one  on this site are here to get your information ... even if you post for jobs or home/rental ... all are a  scam, never send money or  give your information if they are not will to meet you in a area with lots of people.. or give more information of their company or if the company can't be found on like or by BBB,,  many will say that they are away from the state ( THAT IS A BIG RED FLAG}  or they are moving from another state for business.. go to site where are local to you area and have good business, if you also get email of people that  say they seen you ad.. reread it for mistakes..

I wish i wouldve actually checked this phone number out before i got scammed out ot over 1000.00. This guy posed as a contract worker that was out of state wanting to buy my car for his cousin. He used an email account of service@paypal.com. the only difference was he had a period out of it....he such an a** and im out over a thousand dollars that i had ear marked for my sons college fund.  I hope GOD deals with him accordingly!!! B*****d

I was sent a similar message to the other reported!

Received the same type of message for a 5th wheel.  Also said he couldn't talk due to company phone etc.....  Said that I needed to pay for the shipping at Western Union for his shipper and has added that money to his payment so as I wasn't out of any money.
He is upset with me because I haven't done it yet!!!  Soooooo sad!   I also got with the confirmation from so called pay pal another e-mail address with a different name of a person doing the buying.  I e-mailed them and it is the same thing.

Got the same sort of text as most of the people above regarding a car I have for sale on CL.  I am going to start putting some time into reporting these scam attempts

He offered to buy my car sight unseen for his cousin, but was unable to meet us to test drive or pay cash because he was on a business trip over seas, and could not talk over the phone because his phone was a business phone and he didn't have good reception. LOOK OUT.

I also received the same text, He responded to my Craigslist add which for selling my car. I'm glad I'd Google this numbers and now I know it's a scam; funny his name is Alan too. Know I'm going to have fun with this Fu@*ing idiot. Matter of fact I'm going to call him and see if I can force him to buy my car with CASH and No Check :-)

Got the same text, going to Genoa, buying for cousin, "can you assure me it is in good state", etc.  I have several listings on Craigs List so not sure what item he is responding to but suspect it is the big ticket boat. Who buys that for a cousin?  Thanks all for the tip-off.

I just received a text from this number 3236384195 and he wanted me to set up an account to send money for payment. I put this number in google and this scam message came up. Please report to the Fcc so they can prosecute him.

Same story as Kary's. Received text messages to buy an item posted on classified. Said was in Genoa, could only text blah blah blah and wanted item but needed to pay through PayPal. Person then says in order to finish transaction, I need to send the "agent a fee of $900 before money can be transferred into my account". Total scam.
Reported to Paypal and local police department for further action.

Well I am selling a lawn mower on Craigslist and he was buying it was for his cousin....and yes he is in Genoa doing offshore work and could only text from his phone.

Just received same message regarding an ad I posted on craigslist for horses and trailer for sale, only this time it was for his cousin and is on assignment in Genoa.

Got the same message posting a truck on Craigslist.  Wow, glad I found this.

I just received a text from this number in response to an ad for a vehicle I posted on Craigslist.  Same thing, Ocenaographer, leaving any moment, car is for my son.  Thanks to all of you for posting this to let the rest of us know.

we had the same thing happen. the person even started cussing and threatening!

i got the exact message about being an oceanographer.. he said omg what the f***, i want you to know i got the confirmation from the bank that the money has already been transferred from my account. go send the money from western union so we can get this transaction done. DONT FALL FOR THIS S***!!! its a scam and seems very real and very convincing. he is full of s*** and trying to rip people off. PayPal needs to get this mother effer tracked down for fraud.

on January 24 2013  just received the same message as the seller with the truck and craigsslist its a damn shame people waste others time on stupid things like this when they are in need of money

i got the  same  text  message after posting a truck  for sale on craigslist. he tried to get me to give him my pay pal info too. after texting back and forth a couple of times, i told him to send the money to his son's pay pal account, then his son could give me the money when he picked up the truck. i did hear from him after that.  my first tip was he said he was an oceanographer, so he should be making mega bucks,and we were only asking 1800.00 for the truck. i told my husband that if he was and oceanographer, that he could buy his son a new one. thanks for comfirming my suspisions.
