Received call from John Q. stating that several companies saw my picture and they are interested in me for modeling and acting, but before I can start, I need to activate my membership with explore talent for $199.50.  Once activated, he has 4 auditions set up for me.  I have a funny feeling about this, so I am not going to pay.  I believe it is a scam

yes.. it sounds like explore talent...there are so many rip off casting things out there in cyberspace.. be  aware. it should cost NOTHING..but then again.. if you don't have an agent or not in the union...well..these are tehy very people they are suckering in..

if you are serious about the biz.. do yourself a favor.. get an agent..

in the meantime. I must go and delete my account with explore talent.

Happy travels..travel Light.

I wanted to check into extra work for movies and TV being filmed locally...and so I found explore talent online...they have been calling non stop for about a month. The man in charge said that he had two jobs for me right away....that I was perfect for a role, yet I hadnt set up a resume or a picture yet.
It's such a scam. Not I do not answer the calls or return them and i plan on deleting my account.
:) best of luck to others.

Yeah, i had the same thing happen.  Some guy called me yesterday and said that he had two modeling jobs for me right away...one being Victoria Secret (yeah right) and that i needed to call him back because my account was innactive.  I was thinking about it, but after seeing all these comments i've decided not to.  I had a feeling it would be a scam anyways...

i got a call earlier today from a guy named marvin stating that he was the creative director of explore talent. he said that some people like "my look" and that there were some auditions he wanted me to go to but that i had to pay so much money to upgrade my acount so that casting directors can view my website. i had my mom talk to the guy because i couldn't really understand what he was saying, it sounded like he was talking too close to the phone. well me and my mom were sceptical about it beings as we had to pay a bunch of money. so we looked it up on the internet and everything that i've seen so far confirms that it is a scam! huge bummer... i really wanna make it as an actress but i don't know where to go beings as i live in a really small town with no big cities by in stupid old michigan!

I just got a call from "Lloyd" today in regards to my talent profile... which i had just set up. There's nothing on it as far as measurements, past experience...anything.  He claims to be the Creative Director with the company in Detroit, and that there are several casting calls awaiting me.

Shady?
Quite possibly.
I just don't think I"m going to bite the bait on this one.

Just got off the phone with mario, who complimented me numerous times. I believe they get your info from LA casting, since thats the only site im listed on.
He made all these endless promises. It sounds nice when someone strokes your ego, and you feel important, but at the same time, always know that these internet online "modeling/ acting" sites are mostly fraudulent. its a shame. Mario suggested a few times if i didnt sign up right then and there, that there would be no promises if i waited. Believe me, i set the record straight. we spoke for a good 45 minutes. i could tell he was getting winded, and knew he had failed this sale!

Needless to say, i did not sign up, nor am I.

I AM a member of serval modeling agencies, so getting a call like this is typical for me, BUT this guy called at 9PM (unprofessional no matter what industry) and then called back after I had hung up. The guy was really rude when I tried to explain that I didn't have a signal.

I also got a call from "Lloyd" this morning saying that he had  bunch of auditions for me and that they liked my look, that I am very pretty, could get a lot of jobs, etc. I was a little skeptical because he basically just kept saying everything he knew I would want to hear... I mentioned that I had done some acting before and that I had been told many times to not trust people who asked for money and he even had a god explanation for that too, but I was still wary about the whole thing
I knew it sounded too good to be true, I would suggest that anyone who actually wants to get into acting get an agent, it's free and much more reliable!

Linzi,

Your suggestion is good, but most agents will only work with performers that are experienced and in some kind of demand.  Agents will charge as much as 20% of what you earn.  While there is no up front cost, over time, you will pay a lot more with an agent.  Also, an agent may not keep you busy with auditions.  Audition submission services charge a membership fee and no more.  Members can submit for as many auditions as they want to.  It's important to join an audition submission service that offers lots of auditions.  Explore Talent offers just that.  Members gain access to thousands of auditions every month.  Members can submit and go on auditions all the time.  The money they earn is theirs to keep.  Explore Talent is very popular and has over 2 million members.  This is because the auditions are plentiful and real.  They employ over 60 people just to manage the auditions.  The membership fees are reasonable.  There is also a free account which costs nothing and gives a free personal profile page with unlimited uploads for photos and video.  The free account also includes a resume builder and lots of other tools for the aspiring actor.  The only restriction on the free account is that you can't submit for auditions.  This service is very valuable to any aspiring actor that wants to take control over his or her career in the industry.  You might want to reconsider joining, even if it's just a free account.  Remember, you created a free account and that's why you were called and encouraged to upgrade and begin submitting yourself for auditions.

Good Luck

Oh! my god, my sister just signed up!, it seem to her it was a good idea, but I'm always suspicious, so I'm looking for answers and all these is not rare to me, I TOLD HER not too! but she is so excited about the idea to be a star! how can I report these jerks to the FBI or something......

Jennifer, you really don't have to worry.  Whether she signed up for a free account so that she can set up a personal profile with photos and video, or whether she paid for a subscription so that she can submit for auditions, if she is serious about getting work acting or modeling, she will do okay with Explore Talent.

I'm sure you've read information that has frightened you but did you know that Explore Talent has over 2 million members.  They post over 20,000 auditions each month.  I just hope your sister uses her membership to the fullest.

I have been a member for some time.  It's really not complicated.  Once you join Explore Talent you will have access to auditions.  You can submit yourself and really go on auditions.  It's no joke.  I have gotten plenty of work from Explore Talent.

I got a call from this company and they basically said that in order for me to get my acting career going I should consider upgrading my account from Free to Paid so that I could actually submit myself for auditions.  I told them I would have to call back.  After I hung up, I thought about it and decided to give it a try for one year.  I then called back and paid for one year.  Then I went back to the site, logged in and noticed that I was already matched for auditions and just needed to start submitting electronically.  It seems to be really cool.  I'll know soon if I will get work from the site.  I believe the company and the site are very legitimate.  Just my thoughts.
