Got a text from this number, addressing me by name and sending a link to "www.localherohere.com"

I received a text message from this number.  It says:

"Barbara - I'm in the news! Look: www.localherohere.com"

Had another text with the same words from 615-2424-0974

I received a call from this number.  Apparently she thought my 'hello' was funny or got tickled before I answered and asked in a heavy Asian accent if "I was owner of LoneStar Piano."  I told her she had the wrong number and hung up.  No, no........ I no owner, i just pretend.....

Just got this number called to me on my cell. I live in Canada.  Just reporting it as it is an unwanted call for my business as well.  Not on hotfrog... don't even know what it is.... but they obviously use some kind of web data base....

called me to tell me that I wanted her SEO company to make my website appear at the top of google and yahoo, to which i replied i wasn't interested.  Filed another useless DNC complaint.

they said "obviously you're the owner of ...company" (wrong company name) so i hung up. they called back. i told them to put me on their do not call list and hung up.

They had called i answered the phone , tell them your broke and they will hang up ,I just got 2 more calls without messages one right after the other tonight  ! thats why im on this site MAJOR SCAM!!

I have gotten at least 6 calls from this accented female over the past few months guaranteeing me top placement of my website.  Very annoying and unsolicited.

Same deal just got a call from that lady after 5 min of updating my hot frog! Pretty pissed off at hotfrog right now

I received a phone call from this number just a few minutes after editing a business listing on website called HOTFROG.

As so many others on this site, I got this call as well.  What I want to know is why is this number still in existence.  There has been enough calls and time for "WHOEVER" goes after these scammers to have this taken care of.  Especially since they seem to be exceedingly rude and aggressive.  One thing I find helps with these calls is to NOT answer them and I fortunately have a fax machine I can hook up to my phone line so they receive a nice "Screaching" sound in their ear.  I take great pleasure in bothering them and it seems to work....somewhat!  Take action government!!!!

I'm in Canada and updated my HotFrog profile an hour or two ago... then this number calls.  I didn't answer and no message left.  I've had other calls for 'top spots' or 'marketing help' after putting my business in a directory... they must wait for new ads or updates and try to swoop in and 'help' you out.

Funny, I just got a call from this number from a woman with a heavy Indian accent, within 5 minutes of updating my HotFrog profile. She was trying to sell me SEO services. I told her I already had it (fib) and I wasn't going to either pay for a second service or fire someone I was already happy with. She tried to keep me on the phone but I abruptly ended the call.

I have no idea if it does anything, but if a lot of people complain about one company or one phone number, then it increases the likelihood that they'll actually do something about it.

ARGH! This number has called me twice today on my mobile.  I don't know anyone in LA, so I also haven't answered.  I run my own business as well and so my # is easily accessible on the internet.  How annoying.

Yesterday evening our studio received a call from them, she said her name was Jessa (with an Indian Accent) trying to sell me (as the owner of the studio) their services and she got nasty after a bit.  I let her know I have her name, her number, and i have started recording the call (I did) and that she is to immediately remove our # off the list, not to call again or I will report everything to the FCC.  I will also make copies of everything I can find about complaints about their company an # and send that to the FCC as well.  I also told her I would be more than happy if she did not follow my instructions to never call again, I will seek them out & sue them.  She promptly apologized, told me our # would be immediately removed and we will not hear from them again.  We will see.  I am in Novi, MI...

Lady with HEAVY indian accent, couldn't understand what she was saying other than "I'm speaking to the owner right?" I didn't understand where she was calling from so SHE hung up on me. No call back.

I got a call today from this number. They were trying to sell me an SEO service and they wouldn't take NO for an answer. I asked them to email me the information. I registered my website peterkphoto.com to a few directories just a few days ago so I'm sure they have some kind of agreement with them to share our contact info.

I got a call from 323-790-0167 immediately after updating my Manta account.  Heavy accent, could hardly understand him...but I did catch the 'placement' phrase.   As with any unsolicited phone call that I get, I avoid saying anything akin to the word 'yes' or 'okay' or anything just in case they are recording the call.  I know that some of these are so unscrupulous, they will record your conversation then edit it to make it appear that you agreed to their services.  Beware of this tactic.  Never say yes to anything...even if they ask your name.  If they ask if you are 'so and so', respond with:  Who's calling?
As soon as I got this call, I quietly set the receiver down on the desk and just let the guy talk away.  He talked for a long time before he realized that no one was even listening.

DoNotCall, doesNOTwork!  After all these years of getting the same calls over & over again and eveyone saying "but I'm on the DNC list" and sending in complaints to DNC, but yet NOTHING ever happens, try the steps below.  This number has been calling people since SEPT. of 2007!!!!!!

At least TRY to stop the calls yourself.  Here are easy 1,2,3 steps to take.

1)  Buy a Home phone with Call BLOCKING functions and use it.  Maybe as these types of phones start flying off the shelves in record numbers and the phone manufacturers see the demand for them, they'll make even more of them and give the ability to Block even more numbers in them.
2)  Call your local Phone Company & see if they have a Call Blocking service.  If so, sign up for it!
3) On Cell Phones, put the number into your Contacts under SCAM or whatever, and then SET the Ringtone to NO RING or SILENT!
Ta da!  They won't ever be able to ring through and bother you again.  If you see them in your Cell phone List and you hadn't even known they ever called, CONGRATULATIONS!!  You have now fixed it yourself!

Do NOT ever call them back, even if it seems like an innocent Recording that says 'this is a non-working number' or whatever.
Do NOT bother telling them to put you on their 'Don't call list'.  Guess what? They don't really have one!  And seeing they're calling ILLEGALLY in the first place, don't waste your breath.
Do NOT talk to them at ALL, just HANG UP!
BLOCK them, and go on with your life.

If you're worried that it could be a Legitimate company trying to contact you, then wouldn't you think they'd have your Address and you'd have gotten a letter from them??

P.S.   NEVER call back a number listed on a questionable letter, either!  ALWAYS look it up yourself and be sure you're calling the REAL company, not just any old number given to you in a letter!!!!!!!  And don't contact the email address they give you, either!!!

It's a Felony to send anything through the U.S. mail that's bogus, but by the time you've called the number that they listed, or logged onto a website they gave you,  and given them all your personal info. to supposedly 'verify that it's really You', -  they've already stolen your Identity and your Bank account money, etc.!!  By the time you figure it out, your wallet is emptied, and you can complain to the Feds all you want.....  but by then your Identity and money is long GONE!

We get this call once a day from "Angela" who my co-workers can hear across the room because she talks so loudly.  She always says that since it's a nice day I must be the business owner.  After reading all of these posts "Angela" will not be having a nice day tomorrow if she doesn't remove our company from the list!

At least once a month I get a call from this number.  When I'm in a good mood I let the same lady spill her sales pitch to have my website linked to get more hits.  They want more informaiton and access to my website.  Be aware of these people. They do not remove people from their list and will always call you even if you have asked to be added to the Do not call list.

Received a call from 323-790-0167.   The caller identified themself as calling from 'fruitengine.com' and offered to do Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on my site.  I just hung up the call.

I updated my business profile on Manta, so they are all selling our #'s. This bites!

I keep getting calls from this number and I did find our ad for my business on Hotfrog.com but I do not have a listing with them and I refuse to sign up to get rid of my ad just in case they get more info then they already have, how they got my ad and why they think they have a right to use it is beyond me, not only that this number is from the United States, from what I read it's from California, this isn't the only number as well, there has been a ton of different numbers all long distance and all of them from the United States, it all started today and it's driving me NUTS! Not only that it's tying up our long for regular calls when they do call. I did answer a couple of the different numbers and they are all computer generated, what I am afraid of is I am going to be nailed with charges, I did also call my phone services provider as to what I can do to remedy this problem but they said they can put a screening thing for the phone but it would be added charge. SO B.S.!!!
