I stared getting calls from this number.....I responded yesterday, and the person (a male voice) asked for Mr. Marin....I said I don't know this person, this is my number, please don't call this number again. And, today I got the call again, responded but the person didn't say anything, and disconnected the call. I called back, and seems like it's going to the voicemail directly. Anywho, I left a message saying that if I get anymore calls from this number, I will contact the police/cop (and I will). Any idea?

In case you or someone sees this that can help, how do you use google phone directory to find the registered owner? Any information would be helpful

I don't know how you'd see this after four years, but how did you find out it was SCOPE? I need to find out what group is registered to the number through google voice and would love any information on how you found that out.

I got this call before and, as I recall, it was from a political compaign or something like that. Anyway, after a long period of time, today I got a call from this number again.  Simply dragged and dropped this number into the black list on my cellular.

The same way you can tell a southern accent, a jersey accent,  maine, Texas ,  Oklahoma ,  Arkansas,  jamaican,   latino,  slavic, Italian, spanish,  English, Australian, New Zealand,  Canadian aboot, Eh?
It's bad enough to actually be racist but to be so tied up and blinded by Political correctness to the point of denial and saying you can't tell an accent when in some cases you can,  makes a person a just plain Liar.

I'm still skeptical, though. They didn't really do a good job of trying to get me involved into anything. And the steady background ambiance despite the caller continuously cutting out still bothers me.

At any rate, the caller wasn't very informed. He called the organization "CA Call" instead of "CA Calls" and he gave me the wrong website. He also had no information on what they were about, aside from "government reform, better education, and fairer taxes", something that virtually every action committee stands for. Furthermore, he couldn't tell me why he was calling other than to ask for my "general support".

I would still ignore calls from them until they get their act together.

Oh, wow. Where do I begin? This guy calls asking for me by name and says he's from "CA Call" asking if I want better government, a fairer tax system, and better schools. I ask him, "Who wouldn't want that?" and he says that a lot of people don't care. He asks if I'm a registered voter and if I could help get more people to care (not that it mattered, since he says that they got my name and number from existing voter registration records).

I ask what the call is about, and he says they're just generally calling people, not for any particular election or measure. (???) Then he asks if I could help their action committee to "get more people to care", and I ask what the name of the action committee is.

He responds that he doesn't the PAC has a name (???), but they have a website. He gives me the website "cacall.com", and I visit the site and the domain is for sale. (WTF?!) All related domains (cacall.org, cacall.gov, etc.) also don't exist, nor is there any information about an organization named "CA Call" on Google.

The weird thing is that, while this guy is talking, his voice keeps cutting in and out, but the background noise (which sounds like a busy call center) is steady, so it seems that the background ambiance is piped into the call separately from the guy's voice.

All these factors convince me that this is some kind of obscure scam. If you receive a call from this number, BEWARE! Don't answer the phone.

Plenty of us *have* answered their calls, and either no one responds or they hang up altogether. I just received a call from them at 7:30pm and answered the call -- there was an extremely faint voice on the other end that asked for me by my first name only, and when I asked who was calling, they hung up.

I immediately called them back, and it went straight to voicemail. So, after finding this thread a couple minutes later, I called a number I found here (their main line, apparently): (323)789-7920. Again, an answering machine, but at least this one identified the company as SCOPE. The message also says their office hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm -- never mind that they called me at 7:30pm, I guess.

If this is an operation interested in "[getting] voters, mostly low-income people of color, to participate in the electoral process", they're doing an incredibly bad job at it, if they don't even bother to speak to the people they're calling. On top of that, if their goal is to speak with low-income minorities, they're way off the mark with this particular voter. Not to mention the fact that it would be profoundly stupid to contact people who are ALREADY VOTING to try and get people involved in the electoral process. THEY'RE ALREADY INVOLVED.

SCOPE is a social justice organizaation located in South LA. They receive voter information from voter lists, which is public information. The calls are regarding how to get voters, mostly low-income people of color, to participate in the electoral process. If they call speak with them...let's get california back on the road to recovery

Some guy with a political organization wanted to thanks us for voting.

They called me twice today.  First time, I was on the other line.  Second time, there was a second or two of silence on the line, then a few seconds of distorted sounding "elevator" music, then they hung up.  Hope they go away!

Got a call from this no. today. She said she's from SCOPE. Told her the person is not. How did they get my full name? I am on the do not call registry. This is ridiculous.

I just got a call from this number, I've been getting them daily and they never leave a message.  Anyway, I decided to pick up and there was no one there.  When I tried to call the number back I got a message saying that "the Google Phone Subscriber is not available"

Answered call and the young girl asked me if I wanted people earning over $500K to get higher taxes. I said it depends. She said thanks for answering the survey and said good bye.
