Kaye,

Buy a loud whistle, and next time they call - blow them into Kingdom-Come.

It earns you good karma.

Please. I was, briefly, involved with the Church of Scientology...30 FREAKIN' YEARS AGO!!... I just got another call from them today, at my parents' house, since that's the number they had all those years ago. As far as I can tell, the only way to get them to stop calling is to hire a lawyer, have that lawyer send them a cease and desist letter, informing whoever that this applies to all their branches, etc., and, if even one call comes from them, to actually take the entire Church of Scientology to court and sue them for harrassment.

Hell, I'm not even sure that, as a "church" they wouldn't be able to get out from under by claiming "persecution." And I can tell you that, if you did have the nerve to sue, they might well decide you're an "enemy" and engage in even more harrassing tactics, at least until you kicked their a***s in Court.

Best to do what I do; screen your calls, and if its a number you don't know, let your message machine get it. Or, if you answer and they ask for you, lie. They do exactly that all the time to try to get you to give up information about you and coax you into their "church," so turn-about is fair play.

Of course, we could all get together and file a Class-Action Lawsuit against them. If nothing else, defending themselves would end up costing them money, which they'd hate with a passion...

Don't send back the mail they are sending you because the phone calls will just increase!  People will be calling wanting to update your information etc.  No matter how hard I tried to be polite when they called, I finally decided they weren't going to take "no" for an answer and I started to get nasty.  I told them L.Ron Hubbard IS DEAD and I don't want anything to do with Scientology now.  I told them that David Miscavage (not sure of the spelling on that last name), who is heading up the church now, is an a***ole.  THEY STILL CALL ME TO THIS DAY!
Now I ask you.... If someone treated you on the phone the way I treated them, would you be calling me?  These people are just creepy and desparate for money.

Since 12/01/07 I have received 45 calls from the "Church of Scientology" most of them from 323-953-3396, but the last four digits vary. I have received a number of calls, one recent call at 2:46 AM!  I have never had any contact with this "Church".  They have a wrong number, but even after having the AT&T Call Annoyance  Bureau call them twice and my local police Department calling them - THEY CONTINUE TO CALL.  The FCC doesn't seem willing to help!  Perhaps the LA District Attorney or a story in NYT might help.  No "Church" acts like this!

we've got un-ending phone calls from 323-965-xxxx, the last 4 digits being variable, but all come from either Bridge Publications or Church of Scientology International.  The calls have been coming for three months and despite being told numerous times to stop calling, they persist.

currently, the church is on a campaign to sell anyone who has been active or has done any type of course or service with them in recent times (?? past 5 years) a package of new books and lectures that run around $3,000.  they are called "the basics", and the church is hell-bent on calling (more like being a pain in the a** to) everyone "till they have their basics" (from a handwritten note sent to me).

i don't know how to stop them.  it's an embarassment to the church (my opinion) and to some who've done services with them.  i just hang up on them now.  i'm strongly considering filing a report with the fcc.

It's the Scientologist.   I guess nonprofits are exempt from do-not-call list?

I might have to change my number soon.

Best suggestion is to ignore the calls or get new number.

I have been getting calls from this "church" for at least a year now.  I lost count at around 30 but they call at least once a week.  I started to save their numbers so I'd know it's them and just ignore it but they leave voice mails.  So I gave them all personalized voice mails with "F**K off, any further calls will result with a call from my lawyer on grounds of harassment.." type messages.  Still they persist.  These people are rude.  Picking up results in frustration regardless if your olite or angry with them. Nothing works. Im going to look into this call forwarding" thing and forward them to 1-900 numbers.

Tried telling them it wasn't the number of the person they were calling --explained that this is a cell number and the person they are calling may have previously had the number, but it's mine now. This person, calling from Los Angeles didn't seem to really care about that, despite his claiming he was just calling to "update their mailing list" --he kept trying to engage me in conversation.  I told him I had already been getting calls for this person from one of their churches in Washington state, and I had explained to them I wasn't that person and they said they would take me off their list, but started calling again too.  I finally had to block any number from them after googling each number --they call from all sorts of #s in California and Florida and sometimes other states.

If you are receiving calls from anywhere and they are asking for someone else, tell them that person probably changed phone companies and got a new number, because this is now your number, not the other guy's. This happened to me when I got a new cell. People called my number asking for the same guy over and over but I told them this is no longer his number and they finally all quit. The phone company had given me someone else's old number. I would think that if they want to find a certain person and he is continually not at your number, just impress upon them it's yours, not this other person's.

I answered a call from this number today at 2:43 PM PDT today 6/3/2010. The male voice on the other end asked for "Steve". When I stated that no person named Steve is associated with the called number, he stated that he was calling a "Steven Park" who gave my number as his contact. The caller hung up before identifying himself.

I got a call last night at 11:00 pm and "Marissa" asked for my boyfriend and I asked who they were and she said that she was calling from AOLA and I asked what that was and she said it was the Church of Scientology and I said you do know it is 11:00 at night and that we are in NY..she said "Oh, How stupid of me."  Duh...She asked if he was there and awake...I handed him the phone and she asked if he was such and such with scientology...he said no.  I don't understand how they got his number, because we have only had this number a couple of years and the phone bill is in my name only.  I also know for a fact that he doesn't even know what scientology is or has had anything to do with it.  I hope they don't call again!

They called me and my ederly parents...two different states in two nights.  They stated my phone number was the phone number my ex-husband gave them as his recent phone number and they were trying to update their records (he is/was a Scientologist). They told my parents the exact same thing. They out-right lied, I got into it with them about this. Secondly, my parents nor I have talked to my X in over ten years and my phone number is fairly new.  They did say they would take us off their mailing list. We'll see...according to the other responses!

These calls, and those from other phone numbers, are from the f****ng Church of Scientology. They have been harassing me for a year. They keep asking for Cathy or Katherine in Texas. I live in Arizona. If the stupid b*****ds would look at my area code they might be able to figure that out.I talked with a so called supervisor about six months ago who said she would remove my phone number from their files. Well, it has not happened.

Yeah, well it seems the loonz are manning the fo'c'sle of the FreeWinds even as her hull deteriorates & Flag needs cash to fix her.

QED, every and all ppl who ever did so much as buy a used copy of Spy Killer from Goodwill using their credit card are getting spammed ;^P

I changed my landline # (my VoIP has remained unmolested) and the only real nuisance left now is email, which I've been fighting using FAX & direct phone calls on the VoIP line.

I may get bored tormenting the afflicted, but for now it keeps my tongue sharp (!)

Ok I got this creepy call tonight at 9:05pm. I've moved, changed my number and I don't know how they tracked me down.  I read the book 7 years ago and made the mistake of calling them once!  They keep sending material to my old address and I've asked them to remove me from the call and mailing list.  They keep talking about sending me a CD for free.  How do you make them stop?!!
Do they run your credit or something?  How would they know my new phone number?  My phone number is listed under my husband's name and they asked for me.

Start keeping ALL your junk mail, just box it up, when the box is full... send it back to them C.O.D., that should cost them some extra $'s. Maybe, just maybe then they will get the message.

How did these people get my name, address and phone number?  I have never used their products.   I began recieiving mail frm the Church of Scient-nuts-ology in February.  I returned some to sender, when that became such a waste of time due to the volume (several flyers, pamphlets, etc.) per day, I began just tossing them in the trash.  Now, they have started calling me, from a 415 area code, the caller knew my name and left a friendly message. I will absolutely not speak to them because I believe that, according to these reports, it will only make the problem worse and intrude further into my life.

I have not been a Scientologist since 1981 when I realize how anti-gay they were.  I am and came out.   I still get US mail 2x+ times per week.  Now I'm starting to get phone calls from them (once per week last 4 weeks).  Wow, they just don't give up.  They hope you have money and are down on your luck and vulnerable (to a cult) again.
