This is just a scam nuisance call.  There's no way to get them to stop calling so here's how I handle ALL these scam phone-calls.
If I see their name on caller ID I never answer...ever.
If they leave a message I delete it the second I hear it.

Finally, no calls since yesterday. Either they gave up or maybe the error tones helped.

Follow  up: It's been about a day since I sent their calls to the number disconnected SIT tones and we still got three calls so far today (8:40 am, 3:54 pm and 5:43 pm). Of course, they could still try before 9:00 pm tonight, still about 40 minutes to go.

So, they're not stopping because of an apparant canceled number. I'll just leave it cook like that now for good and just check the incoming call record from time to time to see if and when they stop. I'll keep the gang here posted.

No offense, but have you even bothered to read any of the comments here? People are saying that this company is calling them and harassing them when they don't even have a Paypal credit line. Some don't even have a Paypal account. Then there are the ones who do have a Paypal credit line but either don't owe anything or aren't behind on their payments. None of these people have done anything to warrant a series of increasingly aggressive and hostile phone calls.

I highly suggest that you get on the internet and educate yourself on phone scams. There are many companies who will mislead consumers into thinking that they're representing a company when truthfully they're a separate agency looking to transfer your balance to them so they can charge you a higher rate. Many of these phone scams are technically legal since most times they know exactly what to say to stay within the bounds of legality. You will often get companies who give themselves a name similar or identical to a more well known company, which isn't really illegal. They use this name and then tapdance around the fact that they aren't actually attached to the company they've named themselves after. It might sound like a lot of work, but guess what? This works and many people are scammed this way because like you, they don't bother to actually question anything.

How do I know this? Well, I do my research. I had family who made poor credit choices and were scammed into tranferring balances via phone calls like this.

Read up on internet scams in the future and stop being ignorant.

The only problem is that this company is calling people who do not have credit lines through them and they're also calling people who are not behind on their payments and are paying on time.

I've been with Paypal for years and had a credit line through them for almost as long. Once in a while I will receive an email from them stating changes to my account, but predominantly any contact over my account has come via physical snail mail. (This does not include the typical billing statements, which I always receive via email.) I have never had them contact me over the phone. This is extremely abnormal activity for them.

The problem is that there are a lot of companies who name themselves similar or identical names in order to trick people into transferring their balance to their company. They tread the line of legality as far as misrepresentation goes, sometimes blatantly lying, sometimes just twisting their words enough to where they're not quite lying but not really being honest. Thanks to the financial misadventures of some of my family members, I've become quite familiar with companies like this. They are not the same thing as actual companies calling to collect on bills or balances getting transferred to collection agencies. They are separate companies who are not attached to any of the businesses. It's all sort of legal but it doesn't make it any less of a scam.

This isn't a case of dumb people not paying their bills. Scammers are very intelligent and will tell you anything you want to hear. Do you really think that they'll tell you that they aren't really attached to Paypal and that they're a separate company trying to get your information? Of course not and you're a fool for thinking that they would.

I'm getting these calls. I am not late with my paypal account, nor have I purchased anything recently through paypal. I've checked my email and my account (via signing on to it) and I don't see anything that would suggest that a payment has not gone through or that there is any reason for me to be called. If my account was really having an issue I'd be contacted by paypal via email.

This is not a legit number.

We started getting calls from this number yesterday, with many calls today. If we answer nobody in on the line, just dead air. If our answering machine picks up their end disconnects immediately.

The caller ID states "GE Money," which is likely spoofed. We do have a PayPal account that ONLY bills a credit card (we have no "account" with them). I see no likely connection between these calls and PayPal or the real G.E. Credit Corp.

Anyway, my VOIP phone provider, Callcentric, gives you the option of having certain incoming numbers go directly to the number disconnected SIT tones. I'll let that stew for a few days and see if that makes them give up. I'm betting it will.

Hmmm, Paypal Account? Yes. GE Money account? NO. Paypal line of Credit? NO!
Annoying calls from this number with nobody on the other end? Crappy.

If this is really GE I will never be looking to them to offer me any line of credit or even banking for that matter. I only have one Credit Card and that is paid and up to date AND my credit score is 839 so I must be doing something right! Thay and YOU can go  suck eggs

GE Money for PayPal. I usually pay my bill around the 5th or 6th each month which is a few weeks early because the *actual* due date is the 28th.  This month due to another financial set back I chose to hold off and pay close to the due date after my second paycheck comes through on the 20th... meaning that even when I do pay I will still be paying EARLY.  Nonetheless I'm getting calls, and the only reason I can think of is NOT that I'm late just that I'm not as early as I usually am!

If anyone has advice on filing a complaint PLEASE post it!

If you're receiving calls from this number it is due to your GE line of credit obtained via PayPal. They are not PayPal, they are GE and you opened a line of credit through your PayPal account at sometime in the past and it is ether past due or payment due.

I started getting calls from that number just this week. I don't answer unknown callers on my caller ID. This is also my cell phone. Tonight they called 3 times and I did not answer. they do not leave a message, which is very odd to me. So I called the number back and it said you have reached paypal.. Not GE Money for paypal, just paypal.

Then it said my number matches what they have on file for my account (guess it has caller id too?lol) Then it asked my for my SS # to verify I am who I claim to be..LMAO.. This is ALL done with their robot caller or whatever that is asking me the questions.. Anyhow, I said nice try and hung up. I do not believe that number has anything to do with paypal or GE money or any debt collector. Even they aren't this bad due to federal laws.

In all of the 15 years I have had Paypal they have NEVER called me, EVER! Oh and I am not late on anything with paypal.

I just recently started to get  these calls and when I answer no one is there. I don't have a Paypal account or anything like that. They never leave a message and the first day the called, they called once at 8:09 A.M on a Saturday, next they call on Sunday, twice. Once at about 8 A.M the next at about 4 P.M. Then they did this again today, but three times. Once at 8, once at 4, and once at about 5:30. It's very frustrating because this is my personal cell phone and I am in school, so having someone call me who will not answer is bothersome. I keep my phone on in case there is any trouble with my family or if my dad ever calls because my dad's in Iraq.
