Yes same thing just happened to us!!! This page really did help,, I don't know how he even got the first name of my father the only funny thing is that my dads name is hard to say and he couldn't even say it he kept calling him something simliar saying that it was he's cousin an that he was on he's way!! Total scam

He called, and walked right into a perfect set up to make me think he was a person that I expected to hear from so I spoke to him using his name and first apellido.  Said he needed to leave something at my house (I live in Mexico) as he came through town from Puebla (by chance, a plausible story).  Said he would call the next day to set it up.  His Spanish was just a touch too formal for the person I thought he was, so I immediately called the real person.  He had not called me.   The next day (today) I got the call again, and got the caller ID. He greeted me like old pals using the names I gave him the day before.  I talked casualy, and asked him to remind me of his second apellido.  He hesitated, then he  ACTUALLY GAVE IT A GO ;-)   Wrong.  I guess he hoped I really didn´t know it.   I asked him where I knew him from... He say "you don't remember me?  (For some reason, human nature never wants to tell someone that we don't remember them...)   I said honestly NO.  Recuerdame de donde.   He hung-up.   ALWAYS ask some things no one else could know before you send money.  
BY THE WAY.  THIS IS ALSO A GUADALEJARA NUMBER IN MEXICO.  NOT JUST ILLINOIS!  IT IS MORE LIKELY THE MEXICO NUMBER THAN THE ILLINOIS LOCATION LISTED AT THE TOP OF THIS LISTING,THAT IS MAKING CALLS IN MEXICO.

We received a call on Jan 20 saying it was a cousin.  My husband answered and he thought it was one of his cousins.  They told him that they were going to come to visit us but they would call back for directions.  They actually called back several times, each time stating they were his cousins and they were going to visit us.  On the next day, they called again saying they were on their way but they had been in an accident and the police was going to take them prisoner and they needed money.  They had the supposed police officer on the phone to verify that he was telling the truth about his visit.  When they started to ask for money, I asked him what his name is and he pretended like he couldn't hear me.  When I asked him for his aunts name, he hung up on me.  They tried calling my husband again but he didn't answer.  This is a total scam.  Do not send these people money.  

Las personas que llaman de este numero cometen fraude.  Ellos consiguen informacion con decir que son un primo o sobrino que te van a visitar.  Luego llaman deciendo que necesitan dinero.  Ahi que tener cuidado

Nos acaban de marcar de este número, primero contesto la abuelita y le dijeron que era un sobrino que venia a pasar la navidad y que estaba en un OXXO que si querian llevara algo para la cena, luego contesto el abuelito y le dijeron que era un sobrino pero cuando le dijo que cual sobrino colgaron, luego yo conteste y me dijeron es usted fulanita de tal, pero dijeron mi nombre al revez como les dije que quien era , colgaron , pero por el número enseguida nos dimos cuenta que era de Guadalajara y era puro fraude, de todas maneras ya lo reportamos por cuialquier cosa.

Llamaron a familiares de USA diciendoles que yo iba para alla y que necesitaba dinero...
desafortunadamente mis familiares se la creyeron y les hicieron un deposito :(
Llame al numero y me contesta un tal "ingeniero" en la ciudad de mexico (siendo que el numero es de Guadalajara)

Fue lo mismo, que era un sobrino que venia pero colgó cuando le dije que hablaba con mucho acento mexicano.
