I just got a call from an unknown number supposedly claiming that he was my mom's cousin "Manuel". We have two phones so i answered at the same time as my mom and stayed on the line to see who it was(like i usually do), he said that he was the eldest cousin from her family and he knew her name and her last name as well as my dad's name. He said he was coming to visit on vacation from Mexicali and that he would call tomorrow to come visit. i thought it was really weird but waited until my mom got off the phone with this guy because he kinda fooled me too, so i was hesitant to tell her to hang up. After she got off the phone i told her about my suspicions and we realized that it was a scam and to not give them any information if they call back. Thankfully she only gave out her cell number and no important information. If this happens to you make sure that you are assertive and tell them that you know that it is a scam and that you WILL report them to the authorities. What i would like to know is how they even get this information, that's what's scary. Be smart people and stay safe.

They always follow with a second call saying that the mythical relative is kidnapped/injured/detained by customs/hospitalized... and needs money wired to him ASAP....

Hi I juste received a phone call telling me that it was the cuttest cousin I had in Mexico and that he was coming to the California and that If he could stay in my house. I was like who are u and he said I cant believe u dont know me. I was surprised that he knew my name and my cousins name. So I asked him well were are u at and he said he was  in TJ and he was with someone else from my family i said who and he said is a surprise. He said he will call me later on to tell me were to meet him. I was for reals he swears that he is going to pass the boarder like if it is a piece of cake lol. Be careful people because for a min he fooled me :) I called Mexico and my aunt said that my cousin was sleep in bed lol how crazy can that be SCAMMMMM

Our household just got a call from this number and this Dude. Man he is good and asking my mother," Do you remember me Prima"? and  of course my mom gets all excited and says, "Ay I don't know...TELL ME!
Well look mister, we are not dumb, you are, and you are not going to borrow no money, go back to Guadalajara where you claim your area code to be from, and get a real JOB! He called back like 5 times- Trying to get a cell # and claiming he was already coming from Mexico and wanted to know if he can stay here. He claimed he got a passport and wanted our address. That he was arriving to Mexicali than T.J. Look, Mexico is really bad right now, BE CAREFUL. We are Mexican and love our family out there but, they are the only ones that we trust with our info and have communication with us. DON'T GIVE OUT YOUR ACCOUNT # OR SEND $$$$$...We have had other calls awhile back from "other cousins in Mexico" so our household has been through this, BE WISE AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THEIR AREA CODE IS INVALID, THAT THEIR # IS FRAUD ALL OVER THE INTERNET,THAT ALL THE STORIES ARE THE SAME IN YOUR RESEARCH, AND THAT YOUR BIG BROTHER IS A POLICE OFFICER. ;) He just said, oh but how? what do you mean?.... silence .... than Hung Up...

Today, my mom received a call from her "uncle". He said he was coming to visit us to the U.S. form Mexico. About 10 minutes later, he called again && I answered & he new my name,He told me to pass the phone to my mom.He said he had ran over a little 12 year old girl while coming out of a gasoline station. They told her that the little girl was already at the hospital & that she needed to get surgery so they needed money. They asked for $3,000.But my mom didn't completely believed them because they changed the story up.They gave my mom all the stuff to send the money, they said to deposit $1,500 to him & $1,500 to his wife. My mom got all the money & was about to send the money.But right before she hung up she was like "Uncle, I just wanna make sure it's you, tell me what your moms name is?" & he kept on saying that he couldn't really hear her & kept on changing the subject & just told her to send the money. They told my mom not to tell my dad so he wont worry & that he would explain everything to him when he gets to our house. When my mom hung up,she called my dad & told him. We called my moms uncle to see if it was really him & they wouldn't answer but then she called our family in Mexico so they could call my moms uncle. They called him & he answered....he was at the mall with his family!!! My mom was so relieved to know that they were alright because she taught that they had kidnaped them.
They kept calling our number several times to our house & to my moms cell phone but we didn't answer.
All of it was a lie, so if they call you from this number don't believe it, they just want money so don't give them any information.>

On wed. I received a call from a suppose cousin. It was a young man who spoke fluent Spanish he knew my dad's name & last name. He also claimed to be coming to visit from Mexico and was crossing the border. He asked formmy cell # and said he would call the next day. He did call the following day and said he had a visa for 14 days but then I questioned him because the cousin he said he was pretending to be was born in the us so therefore has citizenship. He just stayed quiet and then When I asked him how old he was he just hung up. Don't believe these people and if you see anything suspesous tell them to stop calling and that you know they are a fraud. And don't give out any info these people are scammers.'

2:25 pm , I just got a call from that number , Im in  Mexico !!! , It was a Man , taking like a person from a small town in fluent spanish ,He state the same  thing  , he call me "Prima" and say that if I dont remember him  :s , WEIRD I have no familiy in US and state that he has a surprise for me and  was calling from California , I remember the adivices about "extortionists"calling to random numbers , after i act like if  i cant listen to him he hang up ,He try a second time but we just no answer at all .

Just got a call from this guy, sounded Mexican. You could tell he was trying to say my name but was saying it wrong. I asked him what he wanted and he couldn't speak good enough english for me to understand. I heard other men laughing or talking in the background. I told him to lose my number and hung up. I see that there are similar messages from this number. Weird. I live in Canada, how did he get my number?

At 4:07pm Wednesday afternoon. My mom answered the phone and he said im your nephew im going to see you in California. Im going to take you money and im the most handsome nephew you got from Texas. And he ask my mom for her address. And that he was going to call Thursday morning. To ask for the adress.

Hi there, some guy call my house number this morning from 333-350-1353. Asking to speak with his Aunt. Then he knew my Name and Last name as it appers in my telephone company. I asked him who he was and and told him that he was calling a wrong number,then he just hang up on me. It was all in Spanish. I don't have any nephews so I knew right away that something was wrong.

this number called my family saying it was my cousin from mexico coming to the united states to drop a trailer at California...... the things is my really cousin cant come to the united states but the guy said he had a permission of work to come here. we thought it was true we got all excited until my dad talked to him and the guy said he was stuck at the boarder of tijuana  but that he'll call back later.... so far he hasn't called we contact my cousin and he said he never called or tried coming to the united states, BE CAREFUL WITH  THIS NUMBER DON'T FALL FOR IT AND GIVE OUT INFO.
