The same number called my home phone. She claimed to be a favorite cousin from Mexico and spoke fluent Spanish. The next day she called to say that she was detained at the airport and needed money. I informed her that I did not have a job nor money but that I would pray for her. At that point she hung up on me and hasn't called back. It is a huge scam! Don't fall for it!

On December 14th I received a phone call from a man that identified himself as one of my nephews that I had not seen him for 35 years that lived in Chile and that he had a lot of confidential information from me and my family.  He told me he was arriving next day to Omaha, Nebraska and that was coming to visit us to give us a surprise. He also was asking what I would like him to bring from Chile as a present for me. Anyway, he was not able to give me her airline name or flight number and he was going to call me back next day. He was coming via Mexico. Next day I received a phone call saying he was stopped in Mexico,D.F. with his family, the reason was an undeclared $40,000. He was fearful because was facing 3 months in jail. He made me talk to a Captain from the Feds at airport in Mexico to validate the information he had given to the local authorities. This Captain Ospina was explaining his situation and that was a major violation of the Law in Mexico and that he was facing charges as money washing, possible connection with the organized crime and drug dealer. I was cut off guard with the charges and with everything else, finally and as special favor to help him they were able to accept the payment of the taxes of that amount of money that were $ 4,000.00, which I finally ended sending to Mexico D.F via Money Gram at Walmart using 4 different persons to be able to transfer this money to them. I found out at the end of the day that it was an scam and that my real nephew was in Chile. I call the police and let them know all the details but I was told I had lost the money. They were sending the information to the FBI because this was organized crime and that the investigation was going to take some time. So, please when you receive this type of phone call hang up, or if you decide to answer make sure to check with your family that what they are telling you is real. They are taking advantage of people like us because we have family overseas, and it is so easy to make money by manipulating your feelings and emotions. I received every 5 minutes a phone call with the pressure for the money and reminding the 3 months in jail for him and his family. I hope my experience can help someone to stop for being scammed.

This mofo called my home Christmas morning. I am an idiot for giving him bit of information, I hope someone reports him and he gets what's coming to him.
It seems that I have the same story as everyone else. Their story, "Prima, my tire popped and I crashed into a pregnant lady's car. I have to cash a $5000 check but I need you to lend me money until I cash it. Here talk to this police man to confirm my information." Then the "policeman" proceeds to ask you names of people and what city your "cousin" lives in. Luckily, I'm too dumb to know any valuable information. :)
If you get a call from this umber, please cuss them out and scare them to death.

I didn't answer, and my answering machine didn't have an identifiable greeting (thank God). So I looked it up to make sure I didn't miss something important. Unfortunately, my husband could have fallen for this. We are not of hispanic decent and don't speak Spanish, but he has told me about having Mexican cousins in Mexico! Thank you all for posting about this scam. I hope no one gets fooled by this guy.

I got a call from this number this morning. I screen ALL phone calls. Everything I have read so far says he's hispanic and claims to be a family member. I should have answered the call so we could have gotten a good laugh about it.

Today at 6:59 am. I got a call from this guy also he pretended to be a cousin of mine from Mexico DON'T fall for it beware they are just trying to get more information from you and MONEY!!! 333-749-0364 from this number!

Got a call from this same number and the guy was pretending to be family from Colombia but quickly hung up when we started asking questions about his family from Puerto Rico.  Will report this to the police in case anything does happen.

I got a call this morning from this number saying he was my nephew, after i started asking questions he just hanged up, it's obviously an attempt to defarud that has long being used in Mexico to try scam money from unsuspecting people that have relatives in Mexico, don't fall for it. This is a minor scam attempt but is has to be taken seriously, in Mexico it started many years ago like this and it then escalated to phone threats and extorsion attempts and finally to kidnappings and murder. Let's hope the cancer doesn't spread to the U.S.

me llamaronn en español y lo primero que me dijeron fue, tia como esta? trataron de sacarme informacion de el nombre de un sobrino, me dijo que eran familiares de mexico etc. pero me puse enojada no le di nada de informacion y claro que me colgaron, no hay nada que haga la policia acerca de este telefono? mi mama desgraciadamente si dio informacion y despues llamaron pidiendo dinero. Me imagino que que mucha gente inocente si contesta, bueno diganle a sus amigos y familiares que no den nada de informacion por telefono, yo ya lo hize.

this person called and said he was my cousin from mexico using my sons and husbands name and said he wanted to come vist us and that he was in san antino trying to get to where we were at and the person who called knew my name but i have no clue who this person is if you know can you please tell me

A person called and gave our last name and said he was a cousin. Wanted to come to LA to see us. He wanted our cell #'s and said he was coming from Mexicali the next day.  He stated that he needed to cash a $5,000 check and wanted to know what bank we used. When he called the next morning I told him we were not available to see him. He said he was on the way. I then asked him why he was coming.....he hung up!

someone called saying they were my cousin and he was coming to LA. A couple hours later he called and asked for money because he had gotten in a car accident in Mexicali. it was all made up and they where just getting info as they dragged on the conversation.

Today my dad recieved a called from this number as well saying it was my cousin comming from mexico on a vacation . he told my dad he had an accident, he ran over a little girl and the father was asking to give him $2,500 dls he even had my dad talk to the police (supposley) and the father of the little girl . my dad ask for more information like name, and where to deposit the money they gave him some info. in guadalajara ... we will be contacting the police and give them the information that hopfully will lead to an arrest ... Be very carefull !!!!!

Somebody called my mom 3 times from that number asking for money as well saying that it was a family member and he even spoke in Spanish (my first language). I called the police and they say that if they keep calling like that for 3 days, u can call 911 and they will do a research.

Hello again, today I received the call again and when I confront him, he couldn't identify himself and hang the phone, he was in mexico coming to canada today, it's crazy.....
Be careful don't give him information and he play with my, he speak spanish.

From this number somebody call saying it was my cousin from my country in south america, he even said town and uncle names, saying he was coming to visit tomorrow all the way to canada with his family, he never identified himself, I talked to my dad and we contact my cousin he is not coming, it's really weird this call, please be careful and don't give to much information to strangers in the phone.
