Rachel, can ya hear me NOW???    Personally I don't waste much time anymore with these calls,  I got an app for my phone called Mr Number, it builds a database of all Rachel/Cardholder services,  bogus numbers and automatically rejects the calls.    If I get a call from a new number,  I just add that to the list and it goes into their database for others.

Wow, today I heard a new one.  Jackhole said he was from EXPERIAN!  Since when does a credit reporting agency call you, much less offer you lower interest rates.  The caller info said it was a cell phone.  I have now realized that these are the "work-at-home" jobs that are advertised.  The robo-dialer calls randomly, then when you press 1 to have some fun it rings some never-finished-high-school and too dumb to get the good-enough-diploma at home to start his/her canned come-on.  Soooo, another number blocked.

Same scam with a different number.  As a bit of an experiment, for the last 2 weeks I have been to be professional with them and request that they place me on their internal do not call list.  The typical response for them is to hang up mid-sentence on me with about 1 out of 6 throwing in a string of swear words first.  These are the most etiquette challenged individuals I have ever encountered.

Sadly, in this day and age there is no respect for one's privacy. These a***oles called my cell phone 5 times in a row. Something definitely needs to be done but, it will never happen because, I'd be willing to bet, the powers that be who are responsible for monitoring and controlling these types of situations are getting some kind of kickback!!!!!

The reason that many of these scamers may hang up on you quickly, is that their power dialing software calls many numbers at the same time (multiple phone lines simultaneously). Their theory is that a majority of calls go unanswered or hung up on or go to voicemail anyway, so by calling many at once, as the first live person to answer, causes the rest of the dialed/ringing numbers to be released (you are hung up on). No worries for the scammer as your number will again be included in the next round of calls, and again and again. The computer is relentless, does not need vacation time, sick time, etc.

The caller Id said "Henderson Paint". Called the number back and got a mail box full recording. Poor Henderson Paint, the scumbags scraped your number and now everyone is calling you to complain. Hey Henderson, get the FBI involved!

I just got a call from this number--was holding my phone when it rang so I answered it on the first ring.  Hung up--called back and got the "mailbox is full" message that others have reported.  Blocked number for the future.  Annoying!

THE BAD NEWS: Card Services calls aren't going to stop anytime soon.

THE GOOD NEWS: You can retaliate, reduce the misery, and even have some fun.

RETALIATE:

Waste these turkeys' time. Keep them on the line by acting like an interested prospect. Give them bogus data, including a combination of two different credit card numbers, scrambled Social Security digits, and a modified ZIP Code. Important: provide a credit card company's real 800 number.

After they call the credit card company, you can give them the same credit card info as before with two of the numbers transposed, thus causing them to make a second verification call. Or you can respond, "Guess what ... H-O-O-N-N-K-K [from a $6 air horn] you've been PRANKED! Call back tomorrow for more bullshot." Now they're the butt of your joke.

REDUCE THE MISERY:

Landlines. Enroll for the free service at nomorobo.com. Simultaneous ringing, a free feature many providers offer, enables nomorobo to receive, answer and, after one ring, automatically hang up on nuisance telephone numbers.

Cell phones. Block the number, an option that becomes available on the iPhone if you click on the "i" on the right in the list of recent calls and scroll to the bottom. Unfortunately, Card Services will keep calling from new spoofed numbers, which eventually should motivate you to retaliate.

HAVE FUN:

Turning the tables on the perpetrators with mischievous deception and the news they've been duped provides instantaneous vigilante satisfaction. Plus you serve your fellow call recipients by slowing down this evil operation's efforts to defraud them.
